Chapter 57 - An Immortal Body… Truly Terrifying

Watching the towering eighteen-story building collapse into a flattened ruin within moments—

not only were the spectators in the square stunned, but even the Marine Vice Admirals on the execution platform were left completely shaken.

"This… this is just insane!"

Vice Admiral Momousagi stood rigid on the platform, her Marine coat whipping wildly in the shockwaves.

Her mouth hung slightly open as she stared at the Red Rabbit in his berserk state.

Her eyes were wide with disbelief.

Nearby, Vice Admirals Onigumo and Strawberry swallowed hard.

At that moment, both of them were silently grateful that they were not the ones fighting the monster below.

A creature capable of punching an Admiral into the air—

and now flattening an eighteen-story building floor by floor—

was clearly far beyond anything they could handle.

If that fist landed on them…

they would probably be dead instantly.

Meanwhile—

because the floors beneath him had all been smashed away, Admiral Borsalino now found himself face to face with the Red Rabbit again.

The rabbit's face was twisted into a terrifying expression.

Only his glowing golden eyes and his jagged, blood-red grin were visible beneath the darkened fur.

Borsalino slowly climbed out of the rubble.

He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and spoke in his usual lazy tone.

"Scary… very scary."

"If you keep rampaging like this…"

"Loguetown might be torn apart completely."

"ROAR!"

The Red Rabbit responded with a furious howl.

Without a word, he leapt forward.

A massive palm strike smashed straight toward Borsalino.

Having already taken a painful hit earlier, Borsalino had no intention of blocking again.

The instant the attack came down—

his body dissolved into a beam of light.

But—

The moment he reappeared nearby—

The Red Rabbit's fist was already there.

BOOM!

The punch slammed straight into Borsalino's stomach.

"…Impossible!"

For the first time, even Borsalino's expression changed.

His eyes bulged wide as the impact shook his entire body.

Another mouthful of blood burst from his lips as he was blasted away once again.

He crashed over a hundred meters away.

When Borsalino rose into the air again, his expression had finally turned serious.

"It's not that he's keeping up with my speed…"

He stared down at the Red Rabbit below.

"…He predicted where I would move."

"That's troublesome."

As a user of the Glint-Glint Fruit, Borsalino could move at near-light speed.

Yet the Red Rabbit had not only followed him—

he had anticipated his destination.

That realization led Borsalino to an unsettling conclusion.

The Red Rabbit's combat ability…

was likely even greater than Garp's.

But the most terrifying aspect was something else.

Earlier, Borsalino had clearly cut the rabbit's body in half.

Yet the creature had simply slapped the two halves together—

and reformed instantly.

Such a strange body structure and regenerative power meant only one thing.

In his enraged state—

the Red Rabbit might truly possess an immortal body.

"…Hmm."

"And my shift is almost over."

"I can't keep fighting like this."

With that thought, Borsalino transformed into a streak of light and descended back to the ground.

Just as he expected—

The moment he landed—

the Red Rabbit had already predicted his position and rushed toward him again.

"Scary…"

Borsalino didn't dodge.

Instead, he calmly pulled something from his coat.

A magazine.

He held it in front of himself.

The Red Rabbit's fist stopped instantly.

The terrifying punch froze just inches from Borsalino's chest.

The rabbit's eyes locked onto the magazine.

He stood completely still.

As if frozen.

Seeing that the trick worked, Borsalino quietly pulled out another item.

A carrot.

The moment the carrot appeared—

the violent aura surrounding the Red Rabbit visibly faded.

Within seconds, he returned to his normal state.

The rabbit grabbed the carrot and began eating happily.

Crunch.

Crunch.

His mood improved instantly.

Then he sat down on the ground right there.

Without hesitation, he snatched the carrot from Borsalino's hand and continued munching away.

The absurd scene left the entire square speechless.

"…What just happened?"

"That's it?"

"The rabbit's weakness is… carrots?"

"Looks like the Marines can't execute him anymore. Nothing can harm him."

"They'll probably have to lock him up instead."

Among the crowd, Zoro looked completely confused.

Back then, Druby had confidently told him the Red Rabbit would escape successfully.

And earlier—

when the rabbit punched an Admiral flying—

Zoro had believed it.

But now…

the whole situation had changed completely.

The unstoppable monster had just been subdued by—

a magazine and a carrot.

It was ridiculous.

Belo Betty, on the other hand, was thinking about something else.

After witnessing the Red Rabbit's terrifying power, she was convinced of one thing.

The Marines would never be able to kill him.

His final destination would only be Impel Down.

Most likely Level Five.

Coincidentally—

the commander of the Revolutionary Army's Grand Line forces was currently imprisoned there.

If the Red Rabbit ended up in Level Five…

then when the Revolutionary Army eventually launched their prison break—

they could recruit him.

As long as they provided unlimited carrots and a steady supply of magazines…

she was confident they could win him over.

At that moment, Vice Admiral Momousagi stepped forward.

Trying her best not to laugh, she asked Borsalino:

"Admiral Borsalino… what should we do now?"

"Continue the execution?"

Borsalino didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he pulled out a Den Den Mushi.

"Moshe moshe—"

"I'm calling from Loguetown."

"Moshe moshe… can anyone hear me?"

Standing beside him, Momousagi twitched slightly.

"…Admiral."

"You're holding the listening Den Den Mushi."

"…Ah."

Borsalino blinked.

Without the slightest embarrassment, he lazily pocketed it.

"For now, take the Red Rabbit back to prison."

"I'll report this to Fleet Admiral Sengoku."

As he walked away, he muttered quietly to himself.

"An immortal body…"

"…that's truly frightening."
