Location: The Mirror World — The Gate of Forgotten Memories
### The Forgotten Self
The young man standing beyond the black gate looked exactly like Qin Huaian.
His clothes were stained with blood, his body carried countless wounds, and his eyes contained an anger that had remained buried for countless years.
Fenglan stepped forward.
"Father, is that really you?"
Huaian didn't answer immediately.
He looked at the young version of himself.
"Yes. It is."
The younger Huaian laughed bitterly.
"Finally, you remember me."
The surrounding space began trembling.
"You became powerful. You reached the peak. You obtained everything you once desired."
He pointed at Huaian.
"But what happened to the man who suffered betrayal? What happened to the man who watched his family abandon him?"
Huaian remained silent.
The younger version continued.
"You buried his pain beneath cultivation. You called it understanding. You called it control."
His voice became louder.
"But you never faced it!"
### The Day of Betrayal
The black gate expanded.
A memory unfolded around them.
Qin Huaian saw his younger self standing inside an ancient hall.
Several powerful cultivators surrounded him.
The Qin family elders had betrayed him.
His cultivation was sealed, his allies had disappeared, and the enemies who once feared him were now laughing.
A sword pierced his chest.
Blood flowed across the floor.
The younger Huaian fell to his knees.
"Why...?"
Nobody answered.
The memory changed.
His younger self was dragged through the ruins while the Qin family watched.
Then everything went dark.
Fenglan clenched his fists.
"Those people..."
Meiyue stopped him.
"Brother. This is Father's memory. We shouldn't interfere."
Xiaoxiao looked toward Huaian.
He was watching everything without moving.
But his expression had become colder.
### The Question of Regret
The younger Huaian walked toward him.
"Tell me. Do you regret it?"
Huaian looked directly into his eyes.
"Regret what?"
"Not killing them all. Not destroying the Qin family. Not taking revenge when you had the chance."
A long silence followed.
Then Huaian answered.
"No."
The younger version froze.
Huaian continued.
"At that time, I was betrayed. I suffered. I lost everything I believed I had."
He paused.
"But those events made me who I am today."
The younger Huaian laughed.
"Then why do you still carry that memory?"
"Because forgetting something doesn't mean overcoming it."
The words echoed through the gate.
For the first time, the younger version looked uncertain.
Huaian stepped forward.
"I won't deny the man I once was. But I won't allow his pain to decide the man I become."
The younger Huaian's body began cracking.
"You think that's enough?"
"No."
Huaian raised his hand.
"It is only the beginning."
### The Price of Understanding
Suddenly, countless black chains emerged from the ground and wrapped around Huaian's arms.
The ANCHOR symbol flashed.
The BALANCE symbol followed.
Yet the chains didn't disappear.
A mysterious voice spoke.
"YOU HAVE ACCEPTED YOUR PAST. BUT HAVE YOU ACCEPTED ITS CONSEQUENCES?"
The younger Huaian suddenly transformed.
His appearance became that of a wounded cultivator, barely able to stand.
"Your children may suffer the same betrayal."
The battlefield changed.
Fenglan appeared surrounded by enemies.
Meiyue stood alone in a collapsing world.
Xiaoxiao lay unconscious beneath a ruined palace.
The younger Huaian whispered:
"You cannot protect everyone. One day, you will lose someone again."
Huaian's eyes narrowed.
"I know."
"Then why continue?"
"Because fear of losing someone is not a reason to stop living."
The chains trembled.
Huaian slowly closed his fist.
"I cannot rewrite every possibility. I cannot guarantee every outcome."
His Void Mark illuminated the darkness.
"But I can choose what I do with the time I have."
The chains shattered.
The younger Huaian finally lowered his head.
###A New Revelation
The black gate began disappearing.
Before the younger version vanished, he looked at Huaian one final time
"Then don't forget me."
Huaian replied quietly.
"I never did."
The younger figure disappeared.
A small black fragment remained floating in the air.
Huaian reached out and touched it.
A strange sensation entered his consciousness.
For an instant, he saw an enormous staircase extending beyond countless worlds.
At its peak stood a throne.
But the throne was empty.
Above it, a message appeared:
"THE FINAL BOUNDARY IS NOT POWER. IT IS IDENTITY."
Then another message emerged.
"THE OBSERVER HAS BEGUN ITS DESCENT."
Huaian's eyes narrowed.
"So it has finally decided to act."
Fenglan approached him.
"Father, what is the Observer?"
Huaian looked toward the distant sky.
"Something that doesn't want us to reach the next boundary."
Meiyue studied the black fragment.
"Then the ruins were not just testing us. They were preparing us."
Huaian nodded.
"Exactly."
Suddenly, a distant bell rang.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
The Mirror World began collapsing.
A final voice echoed across the darkness.
"THE INHERITANCE IS COMPLETE. THE OUTSIDE WORLD AWAITS."
Huaian turned toward his children.
"Stay close. We are leaving."
As the four figures stepped toward the opening gate, Huaian glanced once at the empty throne in the distance.
His journey beyond the twelfth realm had only begun.
And somewhere beyond reality, something had finally stopped watching.
It was coming.
To be continued...
