The blue light around Rin was like flames that danced in the wind. It was really pretty. Also scary.
The monster in front of him looked confused by the light.
Rin was staring at some words that were floating in the air. It said some things that Rin did not understand.
Hidden Hunter System Activated
Welcome, User: Rin Ashford
Rin's heart was beating fast. He was feeling a little scared.
"User…?" (he said quietly to himself)
The hunters behind him were yelling at him. They were saying things like
"Rin move! The monster is still there!".
Rin was not listening. he was too busy trying to figure out what was going on.
Then he saw another message. It said:
First Quest Generated
Objective: Defeat the Black Fang Wolf
Reward: Skill Unlock + Stat Increase
Rin was surprised. A quest?
He looked up. Saw the monster coming at him again.. This time, something was different. Everything seemed to be moving
Rin could see the wolf's muscles moving as it jumped at him. Rin's body started moving on its own. He rolled to the side. Barely avoided its claws.
The hunters were really surprised. They were saying things like "Did he dodge that?" and "That's impossible, he's F-rank!".
Rin's sword was on the ground a foot away. The monster came at him again... Rin did not run away. He ran forward instead. He picked up his sword. Turned around just as the monster attacked.
The sword and the wolf's claws hit each other. It made a noise:
CLANG!
Rin was pushed back. He did not fall. He was getting stronger.
Then he saw another message. It said:
Basic Combat Skill Unlocked: Quick Strike (Level 1)
Rin was really surprised. Quick Strike? What was that?
His body already knew what to do. He took a step forward. His sword moved really fast. It cut across the wolf's leg. The wolf was hurt. It started roaring.
The hunters were. They could not believe their eyes. They were saying things like "Did Rin hurt it?"
The wolf was really angry now. It came at Rin once again. Rin was ready. He felt confident at that point in his life as a hunter.
He said "Quick Strike," and his body moved fast. His sword cut into the wolfs neck. The wolf fell to the ground
It was really very quiet in the forest. The hunters were staring at Rin in shock. Rin was breathing heavily. His sword was still in his hand.
Then he saw another message. It said:
Quest Complete
Black Fang Wolf Defeated
Another message appeared.
Level Up!
Strength +2
Speed +2
Skill Point +1
Rin's hands were shaking a little. He said "I... Leveled up?" Hunters were not supposed to level up.. Rin did.
Rin felt stronger than before. He looked at his hands. Felt happy.
In the capital city
A man with silver hair woke up. His name was Arden Vale. He was the head of the Grand Guild Council. His silver hair moved in the air. He said, "A new power has awakened..."
In another part of the capital city
Another man stood on a balcony overlooking the royal army. His name was General Kael Vale. He smiled a little. Said "Interesting..."
Neither of them knew yet…
The weakest hunter in the world had just taken his first step toward changing everything.
