"What are you doing here, Servant?"
Beatrice stood there with Madam Anna.
The female servant flinched and fell to the ground. "Madam... I... I was just..."
Beatrice stepped closer. She saw a bundle of rice half-stuck in the crack of the pavilion door. Beatrice smiled cynically—a smile capable of making anyone's hair stand on end.
"Madam Anna, make sure this girl gets a lesson she'll never forget. I don't want a traitor roaming around my house. And as for the one inside..." Beatrice paused.
Beatrice kicked the rice bundle, sending it flying out of Seren's reach.
"It seems two days weren't enough to cleanse your filthy mind, Seren."
Grains of white rice scattered across the floor. Seren, still crouched behind the door's crack, stared at the grains in shock. Her trembling hand remained outstretched, trying to reach what had now become trash.
"Open the door, Madam Anna!" Beatrice ordered.
