Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 – Scavengers Guild, Part 4

[SCAVENGERS GUILD]

[The Next Morning]

Hector, Kristan, and Wain looked at their status windows with a smile. Next to their names they saw their respective new job classes along with the guild field filled out with the word "Scavengers."

They were officially members of the new Scavengers guild!

Early that morning, the group submitted their application with the Guild & Dungeon Registration office along with a copy of the required building lease agreement and the 1,000,000 Nanocoin fee. Within 30 minutes, the application was approved and the system was updated.

Arthos, Guild-master of the Scavengers guild.

Kristan, Vice Guild-master of the Scavengers guild.

Wain, Master of Coin (Treasurer) of the Scavengers guild.

Hector, Officer of the Scavengers guild.

Percy Veil, Officer of the Scavengers guild.

The group gathered in the conference room on the first floor of the Scavengers guild hall. This was their first official guild meeting.

"Ok, let's discuss the next dungeon raid…now that we are officially a guild we can buy as many Dungeon Raid tickets as we wish. They are 20,000 Nanocoins each…but we will factor the fee when we divide the raid rewards." Arthos said as the chairman of the meeting.

He fought the urge to yawn…he spent the entire night tossing and turning in his bed trying to figure out what went wrong with his job promotion. The cryptic response from the IT department did little to ease his fears.

"I think we should go for a low B-rank dungeon. I think we can handle it." Kristan suggested.

"There are a few options for dungeons levels 60-70. The coin reward seems to be roughly the same…they range from 300,000 to 500,000 each. How are these rewards determined? Is it based on difficulty? Arthos asked.

Wain replied, "No…not really. I reviewed lots of comments on the official forums and watched a lot of videos about this subject. It appears the coin rewards are based on the size of the dungeon…specifically the amount of mana crystals inside. The more crystals, the higher the reward."

"Strange," Hector said.

"What about this one…the Elderwood Grove? It's a B-rank dungeon but the coin reward is 50,000,000 coins! Wait…that can't be right…is that an error? 50 million Nanocoins?" Kristan asked in disbelief.

"Forget it…that dungeon is unbeatable. Heroes call it the "Unbeatable B" or the "Verdant Wall." That dungeon can't be cleared." Percy said coldly. During the time he was a member of the Executioners guild, they had tried and failed to clear it many times.

"Is it really that hard?" Arthos asked in disbelief…it was hard to imagine a dungeon that not even the top guilds could clear.

"That's not the problem. The problem is getting in. The dungeon is locked behind a thick wall made of trees and vines. Impossible to break down, burn down, climb over, or go around. In other words, the dungeon is permanently off-limits." Percy explained.

"Strange," Hector said again.

"Ok, we will ignore that for now. What about this one. It's on the east side and its relatively close. It's on the lower end of B-rank and the payout is 450,000 coins." Arthos suggested.

The guild agreed and a few minutes later Scavengers guild registered their first official dungeon raid.

[The Next Day]

"Oh…look guys…another cave," Kristan said sarcastically as the party entered the dungeon. It looked similar to the bear cave the group had cleared about a week ago.

"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I was hoping to see something different like a snow field, marshland, swamp, or even a desert would have been nice." Arthos added as he looked around.

Wain replied, "that's actually a common complaint from other players. It seems 95% of all dungeons are caves, caverns, mines, or similar. It gets old pretty quick…but the good news is that there are rumors that a new game expansion will be released soon. The player base is excited and hoping it will have new dungeon settings."

"Come on then...let's get this over with." Kristan grumbled as the team advanced into the dungeon.
