A chill crept up my spine. "Did you really kill that man?" I asked, even though the answer felt obvious the moment the words left my lips. I just wish he did not have to.
Something in his crimson eyes darkened. And in that moment the air shifted into something colder.
He closed the distance between us again, far too easily, as though the space I tried to keep meant nothing to him. His fingers lifted my chin, forcing me to look at him, to face whatever truth sat behind that gaze.
He smirked, his eyes fixed on me
"Do you know why they call me Lucifer?" he asked.
