Chapter 71 - Tyrant

Within the river rushing toward the sea, two human corpses drifted with the current, their destination being the eastern ocean.

However, in a place where no one noticed, one of the human corpses underwent an unusual transformation.

Liver and Bulat had both had their hearts pierced by Hysilens long ago, leaving no possibility of resurrection.

Yet at this moment, the sound of a heartbeat echoed from within the surging river water, growing more distinct as time passed!

Liver's body showed no abnormalities, but Bulat on the other side was completely different...

Although the Incursio on his body had been shattered by a single strike, completely losing the possibility of recovery, the flesh and blood beneath those armor fragments were slowly writhing as if undergoing self-healing.

After an unknown amount of time, Bulat, clad in Incursio, suddenly snapped his eyes open, but what was revealed in his gaze was not the light of rationality, but a tyrannical desire!

Then, Incursio changed completely.

Originally, it was just a set of silver armor, appearing no different from certain soldiers of the Empire, only concealing the wearer's appearance.

But now, a large gap had opened on the mask-covered face of the armor...

And it was no ordinary gap, but a bloody maw filled with fangs sharp enough to pierce through rock!

Gurgle, gurgle—!

The awakened beast seemed to want to let out a roar to announce its resurrection to all living beings in the world, but since it was within the river, it made no sound. Instead, it swallowed a large mouthful of water.

As everyone knows, general terrestrial creatures cannot survive in water because they have no means of breathing underwater; they eventually drown...

However, as this beast continued to swallow water, several slits suddenly appeared beneath its neck... those were things similar to fish gills!

At that very moment, the beast stopped struggling. When its hands moved away from its forehead, its countenance had already become terrifying. The original appearance of Bulat was completely gone, and it had turned into a monster through and through!

The name of this monster was Tyrant!

A legendary Super Class Danger Beast, it possessed terrifying power... even the one the First Emperor used to create the Imperial Arms Incursio back then was merely a cub.

Therefore, no one knew what kind of terrifying power an adult Tyrant possessed.

According to the records in the original work, it can be seen that this creature possessed extremely strong defensive capabilities, could achieve invisibility for a short period, and could even evolve to adapt to its surroundings!

The former abilities could be ignored, as some Danger Beasts likewise may possess similar powers, and might even be more formidable than Tyrant.

But that last ability could not be ignored under any circumstances.

Adaptive Evolution.

A Super Class Danger Beast like Tyrant could survive in any environment because it could adapt to any surroundings and adjust its own state for different conditions.

As seen from the recent changes, this newly awakened Tyrant had only drowned in the water for a short time before growing gills that allowed it to breathe underwater, meaning it had already adapted to the aquatic environment.

If it were not in water but in lava, Tyrant could similarly evolve into a different form.

In the original work, Tatsumi unleashed Incursio—which is to say, Tyrant's true power—while fighting against Shikoutazer, continuously evolving during the battle and ultimately defeating the Strongest Teigu.

But as a price for using this power, Tatsumi also awakened the soul of the Super Class Danger Beast within Incursio, beginning a new round of battle for control over the body.

If Akame had not killed Tyrant's soul, Tatsumi might have even been devoured by the beast.

In a sense, Tyrant was a Super Class Danger Beast capable of infinite evolution; no one knew where its upper limit truly lay.

And now, this Super Class Danger Beast had awakened from within Bulat's body, finally allowing someone to witness this legendary creature with their own eyes...

Tyrant's four eyes constantly rolled around in the water before finally locking onto the human corpse beside it.

Then, it swam over without hesitation, picked up Liver, opened its massive mouth, and devoured him bit by bit.

Blood-red color spread through the lake, frightening the nearby fish into fleeing in all directions. They did not just smell blood; they felt a lethal threat.

Boom—!

While passing a waterfall, a massive body suddenly fell from the cliff, but it did not land in the pool. Instead, it kicked up dust on the ground.

Once the mist had completely cleared, this terrifying Tyrant truly appeared under the gaze of the moon.

Compared to Bulat's former human frame, this recently fed Tyrant had visibly grown more than five times larger than before!

Even an Earth Dragon would only be comparable to it in size, not to mention that the current Tyrant was still continuing to grow...

Roar—!

Upon reaching land, Tyrant could finally announce its arrival to the moon. It constantly observed its surroundings and looked at its own reflection in the lake, its eyes still rolling continuously.

It was thinking!

Tyrant had indeed lost its original body when it was made into the Imperial Arms Incursio, but that did not mean it could do nothing.

A creature capable of adaptive evolution could continue to evolve even if only its soul remained!

The person who died while wearing Incursio was named Bulat, so now, this terrifying monster had learned how to think in a human way, and had even gone a step further...

But even so, the ferocity and tyranny in its eyes had not disappeared; instead, they had become stronger than ever before.

Hiss, hiss—!

As if sensing something, Tyrant suddenly looked toward the North, a hint of wariness appearing in its eyes.

Biological instinct was constantly reminding Tyrant that there was something terrifying in the North and that it must never provoke it...

Therefore, to ensure it could continue to survive rather than being made into an Imperial Arms again as before, Tyrant chose to move in the opposite direction.

The opposite of North is South, and the area to the South of the Northern Empire was precisely where the Empire was located!

Roar—!

A sense of hunger immediately surged into Tyrant's brain. This monster had not eaten for nearly a thousand years; one human corpse was clearly unable to satisfy its needs.

To eat, to survive, to evolve.

Tyrant charged rapidly into the midnight forest, its speed not losing out at all to those Danger Beasts known for their speed.

Meanwhile, the human side was similarly completely unaware of the approaching danger.
