She vaguely remembered sitting with her parents and watching the flames before going back home.
Everything was a blur to her.
"Shall I ring for tea? It would help with the headache, my lady."
Eve turned to her maid, her eyes barely open despite the fact that she had bathed and was fully dressed for the day.
"What kind of tea?"
Agnes muttered something incoherent before saying, "Chamomile tea.
Eve nodded slowly.
Anything that made the headache go away was welcome.
Agnes hurried to the door.
"Wait." Eve called out.
Agnes paused in her tracks.
"Where were you last night?"
Silence.
Eve fell back against the bed and spread her arms wide. Theodore's new valet had been conspicuously absent from the festivities as well…
"I was with the kitchen staff." Agnes blurted out and disappeared through the door.
Eve sighed.
Kitchen staff indeed.
