Her eyes peeled open slowly. A glance around told her that she was in her own room. When had she come to her room?
The last thing she remembered was sitting beside Theodore and telling him about her love for snow and Christmas. Had she fallen asleep there? With him?
She swiped her forehead with her hand. What had she been thinking? They were currently at war, and she was falling asleep in his presence. What had happened to her dignity?
But then again, she had to thank him for returning her safely to her bedchamber.
She chose a sombre brown dress for breakfast and headed down to the table. The only person seated at the table was Candace.
He wasn't there, yet again.
And funnily enough, he was the one who always had a problem when she missed meals…
Was he even eating? Or was he missing meals because he wanted to avoid her?
She took her seat, and the servants began serving the meal.
"Good morning, Eve." Everetta glanced up.
"Good morning, Candace. I trust you slept well."
