They just stared at each other for a full minute before he broke the eye contact and retrieved the parchment he had been previously reading.
"How do you still remember that? I wasn't even talking to you then - I was telling that to Candace and we were barely six at the time."
He shrugged nonchalantly. "I happened to have overheard and… I possess a very impressive memory."
She narrowed her eyes. "Oh. So you still hold what I said as an infant against me? All the princes are lecherous rakes with no inkling of shame."
He cocked a brow. "Then why did you reject all your suitors… and accept my brother instead?"
She blinked. What did she say in response?
"I accepted your brother because…"
"You wanted him all along. I see." He cut her off to say.
