Chapter 55 — Clash (Part 2)
On the island, a massive explosion echoed as Kaido, in his hybrid form, stood with his body covered in blue-purple dragon scales. His Oni horns were now straight, pointing upwards, and his teeth had become sharp.
From afar, Kaido looked like a Demon King fighting as lightning cracked around his body.
Opposite him stood Ron. He was half a head taller than Kaido, his obsidian-black-and-gold horns glowing slightly as small flames burned around them.
His fists were covered in demonic gauntlets that looked like they had been made from obsidian-black rock, with molten red lava flowing through them like blood coursing through veins.
Their fists and Hassaikai clashed as thunder and fire collided between them. The earth around them was scorched, with flames burning here and there.
Massive craters had formed all over the place. Trees lay uprooted, burning in crimson-gold flames.
Kaido dashed forward with his Hassaikai crackling with Advanced Armament Haki. Ron spun, his leg covered in flames and Armament Haki.
Thunder and fire collided as the wind was pushed back violently from their clash. A massive explosion occurred as the island shook from the impact.
Both were grinning like madmen, even after fighting for an entire day and night. Neither of them was tired. Instead, they were becoming more excited the longer they fought.
High in the sky, King stared down at the two of them fighting like madmen, completely forgetting about the world around them.
"Sigh... This wasn't how I expected my first meeting with the Chaos Emperor to end up."
He had been curious about the man Kaido kept mentioning. Ron was one of the few people Kaido called a monster and the only person Kaido kept mentioning again and again.
For Kaido, Ron was his goal—a monster he wanted to surpass.
For King, Ron was someone he wanted to be like. A Lunarian who walked freely without fearing the World Government.
A man so strong that even the Government didn't want to provoke him.
Even though King was meeting Ron for the first time, he had already created an image of him in his mind from all the stories he had heard from Kaido and the research he had done.
But looking at the man fighting Kaido, that image completely shattered.
"He isn't anything like what I imagined him to be," King muttered.
Though he wasn't disappointed.
Just then, he turned towards the ship resting on the shore of the island.
Shakky was sitting on the mast with her legs swinging back and forth as she hummed a tune.
King sighed. The aura that woman radiated was also monstrous, and the Devil Fruit she possessed was one of the most troublesome Devil Fruits to deal with.
"No one on the entire sea can match her speed. The Goro Goro no Mi... The strongest Logia really lives up to its reputation."
On the ship, Gloriosa floated towards Shakky.
"You sensed them?" she asked.
Shakky, sitting on the mast, looked towards her with a sweet smile.
"Yep. He'll be here soon. And it seems he has a bird on his ship now. A very energetic bird."
Gloriosa's mouth twitched.
"More like an idiot. Should I just send him for a bath in the sea?"
Shakky's mouth twitched.
"Well, that's not really a good idea."
In the sky, King turned towards the sea as he noticed something approaching him at high speed.
"Hmmm? A bird?"
Then the figure appeared clearly in his vision.
"That's him?"
His eyes narrowed as his body transformed into a red-and-golden Suzaku. With a loud screech, he shot towards the blue phoenix flying towards him.
On the mast, Gloriosa and Shakky looked at King.
"Ooh, looks like we get to see a bird fight."
In the sky, both swung their legs as their kicks collided.
BOOOOM!!!
Blue flames and red flames sparked against each other.
"Long time no see, King Yoi."
The blue phoenix and Suzaku were both pushed backward from the impact.
King looked at the blue phoenix.
"Why are you here, Marco?"
"Well, Pops was also eager to meet his brother, Yoi."
King's eyes shrank to pinpoints as he turned towards the sea in disbelief.
"No way..."
On the sea, a massive whale-like ship was sailing towards the island.
The ship was gigantic. A skull with a white crescent-shaped moustache was painted on its flag.
Standing on the deck was a towering man with blonde hair and a white moustache. A large bisento was held in his hands, while a white cape rested on his shoulders with the pirate flag painted on it.
"Let's have some fun and finish our previous battle, Yoi," Marco said as he launched another kick towards King.
King recovered from his surprise and swung his leg in defense.
"You want a fight? Then fine. Let's finish it here."
The two flaming birds—one made of blue azure flames and the other made of red-gold flames—clashed in the sky.
Below them, Gloriosa and Shakky watched the bird fight with great interest.
On the deck of the Moby Dick, Edward Newgate laughed.
"Gurararara! Those brats really love fighting each other."
A teenager sniffing a rose sighed.
"Well, Marco and King both have Mythical Zoan fruits, and both of them are flame birds. One is a Phoenix, and the other is a Suzaku. Of course, they love fighting each other."
Another teenager nodded his head.
"They are really lucky bastards. Both have Mythical Zoans, and they are some of the rarest bird-type Devil Fruits."
"Comparing yourself to others will only make you depressed, but those two really are far too lucky and talented."
Listening to the conversation, Newgate laughed.
"Gurararara! Now, all of you stay on the ship, don't go around causing trouble, and don't bother that ship over there. I will be going to join the fun."
After saying that, he didn't wait for a reply.
He crouched down and jumped towards the island in a massive leap.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The massive ship dented from the impact.
"Hisashiburi da na, Ron and Kaido!!!" Newgate roared in the sky as his Conqueror's Haki burst out uncontrollably.
He tilted his bisento backwards and kicked the air, dashing towards Kaido and Ron.
On the island, Kaido and Ron, who had been fighting each other, turned towards Newgate.
"Wororororo! You are here too? Come then!" Kaido laughed.
"Bwahahahahaha! This is getting exciting! Come then!" Ron laughed, battle lust radiating from him.
Kaido and Ron's eyes both turned red as their Conqueror's Haki burst out.
The three wills collided as crimson-red lightning sparked across the sky and the island.
The entire island seemed to lose its colour as the thunderclouds were blasted apart.
Just as Ron and Kaido crouched down, their Hassaikai and fists infused with Conqueror's Haki, both attacked upwards.
From the sky, Newgate descended with his bisento infused with Conqueror's Haki and the power of the Gura Gura no Mi.
"AGHHHHHHHHH!"
They shouted as their Conqueror's Haki-coated attacks stopped inches apart.
A spear of crimson-red lightning formed between them.
The three-way deadlock lasted for a few seconds before the spear blasted apart, sending the Conqueror's Haki of the three men in every direction.
The entire island trembled as massive waves rose from the sea.
On the shore, Gloriosa and Shakky cursed.
"Damn those muscle-brained bastards!"
"Can't they keep themselves under control?"
"Damn it, Gloriosa! Move the ship away from the island!"
"Already on it."
Gloriosa said as the ship was lifted by gravity. They moved farther away from the battlefield.
