Raven moved through the mansion corridors alone, the marble cold under her feet. Vincent had given her permission with nothing more than a quiet nod and the words "Find them." The Guardians didn't know. That was deliberate. She worked better when no one was watching her every move, waiting for the old Caruso blade to slip.
She started in the logistics wing, the small room where route changes were logged and encrypted. The terminal glowed faint blue in the dark. She sat, fingers moving across the keys with the same precision she once used on triggers and blades.
Four names appeared on the screen. Herself. Dante. Gabriel. And Elias, the logistics officer hired six months ago.
She read the list twice. Then she began the interviews.
Dante found her first, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed, that easy warmth still in his eyes even at this hour.
"You're investigating alone," he said. "Does Vincent know?"
