Feeling the pressure inside the office rise sharply, the special assistant felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He swallowed hard, forcing down the lump in his throat before continuing his report carefully.
"No, sir… but after searching through the forest, the investigators used tracking dogs and managed to uncover a few clues," he said cautiously. "They found a large, bloodied rock near the edge of a steep cliff."
"After running tests, the blood was confirmed to belong to the missing girl, Clarissa. The investigators concluded that the abductor may have used the rock to strike her in the head in order to neutralize her before taking her away… there was a significant amount of blood at the scene…"
