"Shame, well. We'll find the time this summer to teach you. Andy and I love to cycle every once in a while. We were going to get you a bike as well, but we wanted to make sure we got a size that was comfortable for you, they aren't a one-size fits all thing like broomsticks are. Also, there isn't any need to call me sir, Harry. I'm Ted, in some ways I hope one day you may call me dad, but that's a decision only you can make." Ted said, as he kneeled down to Harry's level. "You're part of our family now, okay? We want you to be happy. Now, come on, let's get you unpacked. Nymphadora should be here by the time we finish. Andy, is she bringing her boyfriend with her?"
"I think so, he should be in the country right now." Andromeda said, growing Harry's luggage as he pulled it out of his pockets.
"Lovely, a full house for dinner then. Do you want to get started cooking while Harry and I unpack?" Ted said, popping open Harry's trunk.
"Yes, that seems like a good idea. We're having spaghetti tonight Harry, but I'll make some Treacle tart for dessert. You mentioned that was your favorite, right?" Andromeda asked, as if checking she remembered properly.
"Yes ma'.." Harry started, before Andromeda gave him a look that said 'try again' "Yes Andromeda, that is my favorite."
"Good, you can call me Andy if you wish dear, I understand that my name can be a bit of a mouthful." Andromeda said, before waving goodbye as she went downstairs.
Harry and Ted unpacked all of Harry's things, which was decidedly not very much. Harry only had a few sets of clothes to his name, only his Hogwarts robes properly fitting. Harry made sure that his wand and flute were carefully placed in his bedside table, and that Hedwig's cage was put near her perch. He also set up his Wizarding Wireless Radio on his desk.
"Looks like you and Andy will need to do some clothes shopping in the future then. Maybe Nym can get some time off to go with you." Ted said, and Harry could only nod. This was still a lot to take in.
"Heyo! Mom! Dad! New Bro! I'm home!" A loud voice boomed from downstairs, accompanying the sound of a door opening.
"Sounds like Nym's made it. How about we go downstairs and say hello?" Ted said, Harry nodded and followed along.
Standing in the entrance hallway was a young woman, with spiky bubblegum pink hair, and features that looked very similar to Andromeda. With her was a tall young man with long red hair that Harry recognized.
"Charlie?" Harry asked surprised to see him.
"Oh! Harry! Didn't expect to see you here. Tonks here mentioned she'd have company, but never would've guessed it'd be you." Charlie said. "What's this about a new brother?"
"Oh! Good! You two know each other. Hi Harry! I'm Nymphadora Tonks. Don't call me by my first name though. I'll be your new big sister. So you can come to me with the stuff you can't go to Mom and Dad for." Nymphadora says, sticking her tongue out playfully.
"Nym, go easy on the poor kid. It's still an adjustment for him." Ted said. "Good to see you again Charlie, how are the dragons?"
"Pretty good, we just got a new hatchling in a couple months ago thanks to Harry here actually. She's ended up being my primary responsibility." Charlie says, speaking jovially with Ted.
Harry hung around the outside of the conversation, adding in whenever he felt appropriate, but still feeling awkward. Andromeda called them into the dining room shortly thereafter and the quintet sat down for a hearty dinner.
The Tonks had a very friendly camaraderie with each other, with everyone getting a chance to talk about recent developments, and trying to learn more about Harry. It wasn't the angry silence of the Dursley family dinner, this was… jovial and pleasant.
Harry wasn't sure of many things, but he at least believed that he could be happy here with the Tonks. He was certainly in for an interesting summer.
Harry groggily opened his eyes as the morning light beamed through the window. He glanced at the clock he kept beside his bed, a mechanical analog one so as to reduce interference from whatever magic may happen in the room, it read 8 AM. Harry stretched and stood up, going over to Hedwig's cage. She was currently asleep, likely tired from her late night hunt. Harry stroked her for a moment and she made a soft hoot in her sleep, enjoying the attention. Harry then made his way to the restroom to work on his morning routine.
Walking down the stairs a few minutes later, Harry found two notes on the kitchen table. One from Andromeda, and a sealed envelope that appeared to be from Hermione. This got Harry very excited. He had been hoping to hear from any of his friends in the month that he had been living in his new home, but hadn't received any letters at all. He had been starting to think that maybe they had all forgotten him, which had weighed heavily on his heart. At least Hermione hadn't forgotten, although it was strange to Harry that she would wait this long to write.
Harry read Andromeda's note first.
