Chapter 40 - “The Rise of Subahu”

"I am fine, my king.

I found this mask in Nalish Lok."

"Nalish Lok?!

But what were you doing there?"

"My king, after you exiled me,

I didn't know where to go or what to do,

or how to complete the task you gave me.

So, having no other option,

I went to Nalish Lok—

thinking that I might regain my memories there.

But it was of no use.

Instead, this mask attached itself to my face

as if it were a part of my own skin.

Even after many attempts,

I couldn't remove it."

"It's alright, Maharani.

With my rituals, I will remove it from your face.

But tell me… you have forgiven me, haven't you?" (emotionally)

"I am not upset with you at all, my king.

I understand your state of mind."

"So… you have forgiven me?"

Princess Ratri smiles faintly.

"Then come with me, Maharani."

"Where?"

"For your safety, we must perform a ritual.

Through it, I will absorb all your demonic energy into myself

and free you from this burden, keeping you safe."

"But my king…"

"Do you not trust me?"

"I do trust you, my king.

I am ready for this ritual."

"Good."

Subahu takes Ratri to the ritual site,

which he had already prepared the previous night.

Meanwhile, in Tuluv Lok,

Prince Susim and Kumar wake up.

Due to the energy of the Prakashpunj within Susim,

even after his head is severed,

he does not die.

Instead, he remains alive without his head.

Seeing this, Kumar says—

"What happened, Susim?!

Why did you donate your head, and to whom?!"

Since he has no head, Susim cannot answer.

"What will I show to my child now?

My child will never even see her father's face!"

Annoyed, Susim taps Kumar on the head, signaling him to calm down.

Then he gets off the bed

and writes something on a nearby glass surface.

"Kumar, this is not the time for jokes.

We must find out what is happening to us as soon as possible."

"But in this condition, whom can we ask for help?

I can barely move,

as if a mountain has been placed on my stomach,

and you don't even have your head!

It's surprising you're still alive!"

(Susim writes)

"Yes, because of the Prakashpunj energy within me.

No one can take my life

until Ratri takes her energy back from me.

Right now, only Ratri can help us."

"I cannot go to her chamber in this condition,

so you must go."

"Me?!

I just told you I can't even move!"

"So should I go like this?"

After some argument,

they decide that Susim will go to Ratri's chamber

and bring her back.

Susim somehow covers his face

and sneaks past the palace staff to reach Ratri's chamber.

But she is not there.

After searching the entire room,

he returns to Kumar.

"What happened, Susim?

Why are you alone?

Where is Ratri?"

"I don't know.

I checked everywhere—she wasn't there."

"Maybe she's somewhere in the palace."

"Maybe."

"So now what?"

"We wait for her."

Meanwhile, Subahu performs the ritual with Ratri.

Through the ritual,

he absorbs all of Ratri's demonic energy into himself

and becomes its master.

As the demonic energy leaves her body,

the conflict between light and dark energy inside her ends.

At the same time,

her mask breaks apart and falls off.

Subahu is overwhelmed with joy.

"Today, I have become the most powerful demon!

Now I am worthy of challenging even the Demon Lord himself.

From this day forward,

whether demon or god—

all will be under my control.

And whoever disobeys me

will be rewarded only with death!"

Seeing him so happy,

Ratri also feels happy.

In the prison,

when demon Nalish and the Demon Guru learn about this,

Nalish shouts—

"No! This cannot be!

The power we worked so hard to obtain

now belongs to that traitor Subahu?!

Once I get out of here,

I will punish him in ways he has never imagined!"

The Demon Guru calms him—

"Calm down, my king.

We are imprisoned by Subahu.

We cannot harm him right now."

"Then what should we do, Guru?

Death is better than this helplessness!"

"That won't be necessary, my king."

"What do you mean?"

"I have created a form of light using my powers,

even while sitting in this prison."

"What kind of light?"

"We cannot leave this prison,

but this light can move outside freely."

"So what?

Can this light free us?"
