"What's with that look? Is that all it is?" Harry asked.
Coulson's expression was quite grave, as if he had discovered an active nuclear warhead in Washington.
Faced with Harry's question, Coulson paused for a moment. Then, he reconsidered; he knew that Skye was marked as "084" within S.H.I.E.L.D.
084 was a S.H.I.E.L.D. intelligence code used to represent objects of unknown origin. The obelisk and Skye had both been designated with this code, and Mjolnir was once also called an 084.
So, thinking about it carefully, there was really nothing to be shocked about.
Adjusting his expression, Coulson continued, "He wants to take Skye away, saying it's to embrace 'her destiny,' and he also mentioned something about the obelisk."
Harry was currently fiddling with the obelisk—he could insulate himself from the petrification effect of the Kree metal by covering his skin with a layer of keratin.
While looking at the obelisk, Harry was pondering how he should handle the Earth Inhumans.
The leader of the Earth Inhumans, Jiaying, was someone he couldn't cooperate with. Because of what HYDRA had done to her, she harbored deep suspicion toward humans and was almost impossible to communicate with.
But just killing her outright wasn't very realistic. Although the Inhumans weren't numerous, their abilities were troublesome, and that was even more true if one counted the extraterrestrial Inhumans.
Thinking about it, it would be best to replicate the original plot and let her expose herself.
Harry said, "I know what the obelisk is. No need to hide your identities anymore; I will make contact with him myself. Is Skye here?"
Coulson hesitated for a moment before calling Skye in.
Upon seeing the father she had been longing for, Skye's expression wasn't exactly happy; instead, she looked somewhat weary.
This was their first meeting, and both her father's appearance and the information released were somewhat beyond her imagination, but she still didn't forget to joke:
"Boss, I trust you already know that I'm an Alien—thanks for not dragging me back for dissection research."
Harry smiled and said, "What did Johnson tell you?"
"A lot, like how I should actually be called Daisy, when my birthday is, and so on."
"How does he compare to the father you imagined?"
Skye paused and said with some helplessness, "Although his emotions are a bit volatile, he seems okay, but it will take time to accept all of this."
Without the killing spree from the TV show, the current Calvin Johnson hadn't really shown his crazy side, at most just a bit of mania.
But in reality, this Mr. Johnson had killed many Agents in the past, mostly HYDRA Agents, but also some unsuspecting S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents.
These S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents had secretly pushed her to drift between foster families during the years Skye was growing up to prevent some "misfortune" from happening, yet in reality, the misfortune was inseparable from Calvin Johnson; many of them were killed by him.
That was why Calvin Johnson was so hostile toward S.H.I.E.L.D., especially after S.H.I.E.L.D. became synonymous with HYDRA.
First impressions are the most important. Skye didn't seem to realize what her father had done, so she wasn't particularly repulsed.
"Then you might want to hurry up and accept your crazy dad—there's something even harder to accept here."
Harry placed the obelisk on the table, drawing the attention of both Coulson and Skye.
"The obelisk, an Alien relic—it comes from the Kree. A long, long time ago, they came to Earth and conducted some biological experiments."
This "long, long time ago" was truly a long time, at least a few million years; back then, humanity might not have even entered the Stone Age.
These Kree genetically modified a portion of Homo sapiens, enabling them to absorb the mist generated by terrigen crystal and possess superpowers. These people are called Inhumans.
How exactly terrigen crystal granted Inhumans superpowers, the Kree probably didn't know for sure, but they had ultimately created the Inhumans.
Then, due to internal political reasons within the Kree, the project was shut down, and the Inhumans lost their original purpose for existence—to serve as World-destroying biological weapons to help the Kree win the war against the Skrulls.
This story was much harder to accept than finding her father.
Skye carefully chose her words: "Are you saying that millions of years ago, there was a group of technologically advanced Aliens conducting biological research everywhere to win an interstellar war?"
Harry nodded.
"And then those Aliens finally completed their experiment on Earth, counting on these superpowered people to help them win that interstellar war?"
Harry nodded again.
"And I am that kind of terrifying slave soldier, a biological weapon to turn the tide of an interstellar war?"
"To be precise, you aren't yet; you still need this thing to stimulate your potential—do you want to try it?"
Harry shook the obelisk in his hand.
The Kree had created a protective layer of mysterious metal over the terrigen crystal. This thing could screen for organisms that would undergo Terrigenesis; anyone unqualified who touched it would simply be petrified by this layer of metal.
There were two ways to make an Inhuman complete the transformation. One method was, like the Earth Inhumans leader Jiaying, to melt down the entire obelisk to make impure terrigen crystal, and then use the impure crystal to complete the transformation.
Another method was to find a temple left behind by the Kree, use their technology to open the obelisk, and then complete the transformation. But activating a Kree temple had a problem—those Kree who opposed the Terrigenesis experiment would come looking for Earth.
However, Harry had a third method here—using Antarctic Vibranium to liquefy the shell of the obelisk and directly extract the terrigen crystal to complete the transformation.
The liquefied Kree metal could also be recycled to make some weapons, which was quite convenient.
"Wait a second, this is an Alien biological experiment, not something like what flavor of pizza to have for dinner. Why can you say it so casually?"
Skye was a bit confused, and even Coulson on the side didn't understand—this thing was a World-destroying Alien relic!
"Scientific prediction." Harry made up a term to brush it off.
In the original story, Skye's transformation caused her to fall into an identity crisis.
But in Harry's view, in this Marvel World where superpowers were everywhere and enhanced people were as common as dogs, this really wasn't a big deal.
If she was willing to transform, Harry would naturally provide her with comprehensive support, helping her get through the initial adjustment phase, while incidentally researching Inhumans himself and expanding the diversity of Osborn's employees.
"In short, you need to know that while this transformation is irreversible, it is not completely uncontrollable, and you have Osborn's support."
"Ultimately, the choice is yours."
Skye fell into deep thought—to be honest, she was still quite curious.
And unlike in the TV show, in Skye's perception: superpowered people were very powerful, but most were controlled by Osborn.
Furthermore, regarding Aliens, both Alien invasions were basically handled by Osborn, and the results proved that Osborn indeed had the capability.
Moreover, Harry had done a lot of research on Alien artifacts, so she almost felt no fear brought about by the unknown.
After all, when Harry said this, his tone was as relaxed as if he were saying: Do you want to try getting plastic surgery?
Seeing Skye's expression change, Coulson said, "This is no small matter. In my experience working at S.H.I.E.L.D., these things are mostly not good—think it through."
Harry shrugged—after all, he had "God's eye view," so he wouldn't guide this too much. If Skye didn't want to transform, he wouldn't force her.
After all, there were plenty of people who wanted to transform; he wouldn't resort to coaxing or deceiving for such a small matter.
Skye considered for a long time, and finally said, "I will think about it carefully."
Harry shrugged: "Sure, but since your father mentioned this thing, I will talk to him personally."
"I have already arrived in Nepal."
