Chapter 149 - Chapter 149: The Future of Small Nations

The U.S. mainland has a population of less than 300 million; honestly, that's too few people.

If six billion people could receive a good education, it's only natural that society would make immense progress.

So Harry didn't just set his sights on the mainland; he also looked toward some struggling small nations.

He might find it difficult to interfere with other major powers for now, and conflict zones are also hard to touch—like Sokovia.

He actually wanted to rush into Sokovia to establish a branch and then snatch Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch for research—theoretically, without the Mind Stone, Strucker shouldn't be able to enhance them to that later level.

But once Osborn went there to open a branch, HYDRA would likely act as a shadowy messenger, sowing discord between major powers.

So for now, Harry can only aim at even smaller countries—ideally, clusters of small nations.

Africa, for example, is very suitable; that place has never been peaceful.

Or rather, regions where people can't get enough to eat and there are many orphans are all suitable for Osborn to open schools; Harry wants to implement socialized upbringing measures in these places.

Some might say: with that money, wouldn't it be better to do this in countries with better conditions?

But it's not a matter of whether it's better or not; the education systems in those places aren't easily touched—except, of course, for developed countries like South Korea and Japan.

And the talents coming from those places have one characteristic: the state has spent a lot of money on them, and they have received a complete, comprehensive education, so their subconscious identifies more with the concept of a nation.

But the children in these small countries who can't even get enough to eat and suffer from the ravages of war, as well as various orphans, are different.

Various "sacred beliefs" or other things run rampant on these lands; they need war to prove they are right and then gain control over these regions, but Osborn doesn't need that.

Osborn only needs to spend a little money, fence off a piece of land, and take these children in.

As for worrying that some warlord might accidentally damage Osborn's property...

Harry could only say they would be incredibly bold; Orbital Drop Troops could strike those warlords' headquarters within a day, and Norman could go pick up the bodies in the name of the United States the next day. What they should do is fight while avoiding Osborn's property.

Otherwise, Norman wouldn't mind protecting a domestic enterprise.

Thus, Osborn buildings were erected one after another in these places, homeless children were taken into the facilities, and their relatives were responsible for low-level basic work nearby, such as cleaning.

Fear of the outside world would give them enough motivation to learn this relatively simple basic knowledge and become qualified engineers to operate engineering robots or maintain electrical facilities.

Even if they weren't good at STEM fields, they could serve as management personnel or even regional managers.

The best among them would receive opportunities for further study to become researchers; not just in STEM research, as their experiences would also give them unique advantages in humanities research.

And those without intellectual specialties but with excellent physical conditions could become Osborn's "security guards."

Everyone has some specialty, and Osborn can accept all forms of talent.

Once there was sufficient manpower loyal to Osborn, Osborn could rely on its own strength to control these chaotic regions.

"First, rely on a major power to control small nations; these small nations are powerless to resist a mega-corporation backed by a major power, and eventually, their entire economic lifeblood will be controlled by this corporation."

While thinking about the future, Harry's black chess piece toppled the white king.

Opposite him, an indignant Lening emitted terrifying electrical sounds in the air.

"Various types of board games are the crystallization of human wisdom; you still have much to learn." Harry shrugged. "Once you can beat me, we can learn another game called 'Go'."

After a while, Felicia walked into the office.

"Construction of the Osborn Academy has begun, and we've encountered almost no trouble."

Harry had handed over the CEO's baton to her a few days ago, but she still habitually reported her work to him.

"Wait, there's no need to report those things anymore; I wanted to talk to you about something today." Harry tapped the table.

Fury had already pulled all of Felicia's files and told Harry something quite unexpected.

Walter The Cat—Felicia's father—had sneaked into the laboratory where Captain America was born when he was just a child and memorized the experimental formulas.

Walter thought he was employed by the U.S. government, but in reality, it was the HYDRA leader Schmidt who had hired him, so he fled and became a thief. (95 Spider-Man version)

Eventually, the SSR tracked Walter down; he traded the formulas for his freedom, and Howard used those formulas and Captain America's blood to create replicas of the Super Soldier Serum.

But these replicas were stolen by the Winter Soldier.

This master thief was quite skilled at his craft, so he returned to his old ways after gaining freedom. However, due to his age, he was unfortunately caught by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Then S.H.I.E.L.D. contacted Felicia, arranged a reunion for the father and daughter, and ultimately wanted Felicia to enter Osborn as an informant.

Felicia had some strange physical changes, likely genetic conditions caused by the radiation Walter was exposed to at the site. This made her body much more flexible, but her hair was also turning white.

"You faked your employee physical; I've seen your file, and you need treatment."

Felicia was stunned for a moment, then said, "I almost forgot about that."

Since Harry injected her with that active enhancer, her condition had improved significantly. Furthermore, since the Battle of New York, Fury had rarely contacted her, giving her the illusion that she had long been an Osborn employee.

Because of her father's instructions, she had a perfectionist obsession in her work, which allowed her to focus better.

But obviously, it wasn't good for her health.

"Well, as Chairman, I'll give you a small reward—a private genetic examination by the Chairman of the Osborn Group."

The name sounded quite sinister at first; Felicia thought she was going on another "vacation."

However, Harry said, "Ois, switch to clinic mode."

As the words fell, the entire room seemed to turn into a Transformer; the cozy room instantly transformed into a laboratory emitting a faint blue glow.

Harry shrugged and then gave a gentlemanly bow. "Although I'd love to do something else, clearly health is more important. Lie down on the bed."

Felicia smiled and, as if trying to get even, took off her clothes piece by piece, revealing her snowy-white skin.

"I have to say, this move is indeed very effective; it's making me start to regret this," Harry said, patting her elastic buttocks.

Felicia smiled triumphantly and lay naked on the scanner.

"Alright, let's get this settled quickly." Harry's hands moved rapidly over the control panel.
