Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: The Hollow Man

Harry was standing by the window, looking down at Manhattan.

A group of young people wearing homemade camouflage gear were skateboarding, looking like they were imitating Osborn's private security.

Not far away on the ground, there was a large placard that read: We need hoverboards!

"Are they role-playing?" Hurley walked over to Harry's side, holding a tablet computer.

"It looks like it. I'm considering whether to put a few test units in the technology pavilion."

"Are you serious? Weapons used to fight Aliens? Putting them in the pavilion for civilians to test?"

"Of course, it would be a neutered version."

These Flyers certainly couldn't be equipped with weapons; a fully equipped goblin glider is an out-and-out killing machine.

However, the launch of civilian Flyers also faces various problems—for example, how to conduct traffic control?

Although Harry had some ideas, the hardest thing to predict in this World is the impact of new technology on society, and this matter will have to wait until Norman takes office.

"Forget it, let's not talk about this. Let's start preparing for the general election."

The two-party convention is about to begin, and since Norman is not a member of any political party, he can go directly to the next stage.

That is, the GG war, giving campaign speeches, meeting voters, holding press conferences, public debates, and so on.

Thanks to that nuclear bomb, Norman's approval rating is ridiculously high, and he can start thinking about the next steps with the premise that Norman will definitely become President.

First of all, the NSA, CIA, and FBI all have significant problems, and he needs to find a way to deal with them.

If the goal is global unification, then what the NSA and CIA are doing is truly outrageous.

Since taking leave, Frank has been investigating the Kandahar incident; he wants to know who wanted to kill him and his family.

Although his wife and child are alive now, they still don't have official identities and are still undocumented; even his daughter doesn't know about this.

Only after he clears all this up will they regain their identities.

Revenge still needs to be taken.

It all started with a videotape.

In the recording, the Hellhound Squad captured a local police officer and was interrogating him.

This officer had tracked down clues to several local drug deals, but was caught by the Orange Agent who commanded the Hellhound Squad. A few days later, the Hellhound Squad kidnapped him, and after using numerous interrogation methods on him, they killed the young man.

Except for Gana, the other members of the Hellhound Squad had long been accustomed to obedience, and even though they knew something was wrong, they suppressed their inner emotions.

And this recording was made by Gana; not only that, but he also sent it out, hoping someone would know what happened here.

As it turned out, someone did know, but the other party had eyes and hands everywhere.

Now Frank needs to find this comrade-in-arms; he might know something.

Since returning to the country, Gana had been living in a forest in the suburbs, which was also the place where Frank arranged to meet Gana.

This young man was a believer, and after returning home, he had been troubled by this matter, and he knew clearly that someone would come to deal with him.

It was quite desolate here, and Frank walked for a long time before seeing a cabin in the woods.

Not only that, there were quite a few old-fashioned mechanical traps around.

"A devout believer, a Crusader."

Frank recalled the past; he and Gana had met in the Hellhound Squad, and this young man had even joked with him that they were Crusaders.

"Gana! Are you there!"

Frank shouted at the cabin after speaking.

"Gana? It's me! Frank!"

He shouted a few more times, but there was still no response.

Frank cautiously opened his coat to show that there were no weapons under it.

Then he slowly approached the cabin; he needed to get closer to see what was there.

After walking around, it seemed that there was really no one in the house, but judging from the situation inside, someone had definitely lived here; he shouldn't have come to the wrong place.

Frank confirmed that the cabin was empty and was about to turn around when an arrow suddenly broke through the air!

Snap.

Frank caught the arrow firmly.

A slightly chubby big guy walked out with a drawn bow, looking quite vigilant.

The big guy was covered in camouflage from head to toe, no wonder he couldn't be spotted.

Frank slowly raised his hands and dropped the arrow in his hand.

"Gana, look at me, Frank, we're brothers, remember?"

"I never participated in these things. You made the recording, but they thought it was me, and my family died because of it."

"I just want to figure out what's behind it."

Frank slowly knelt down, hands behind his head, to show he had no malicious intent.

Gana clearly still didn't trust Frank, and the bow in his hand showed no sign of being let go.

Frank could only continue to talk his way through it, hoping his brother would believe him.

"Gana, listen, we know you're guilty, you're terrified, you're angry, you don't know who to trust, but we're the same, we're on the same side." Frank stood up slowly.

"I'm going to walk over now, I don't have any weapons on me, how about a hug? It's been a long time."

Before Frank could finish, Gana shouted: "Stop!"

The atmosphere suddenly became tense.

"The way you said that sounds really cheesy, Frank. Good to see you, brother."

After speaking, Gana loosened the bowstring and slowly pulled down the hood on his head.

Frank let out a long sigh of relief.

"Sorry for shooting you, brother, but I didn't know who to trust. And about your family, I'm sorry."

Gana put away his bow, and the two hugged.

Frank asked: "Me too, brother, I just want a name, do you know his name? That Orange Agent?"

"No." Gana shook his head.

Frank continued to ask: "Then why did you make that recording? What do you know?"

Gana's expression was a bit stiff, his eyes drifting, as if he was recalling past events.

"There was a kid in the Base, very young, about 19 years old. My knife was missing, and he lent me his."

"Later, later this kid was killed, so I thought about going to the morgue to return the knife to him—a knife is a very sacred thing."

"Then I saw—I saw what they did to that kid, they gutted him and stuffed drugs inside—"

"Just like he was nothing, just a drug bag."

Gana's words made Frank silent; the Orange Agent used dead soldiers as hollow men to transport drugs, but in reality, weren't these soldiers already hollow men while they were alive?

Especially Frank, who only realized this fact after his entire family died—the war had turned him into a hollow man who only knew how to obey; his family was his everything, not those shiny medals.

He didn't know what expression to make; he had always known deep down that what he was doing wasn't a good thing, but stuffing drugs into soldiers' stomachs, wantonly killing civilians—

He should have seen it all clearly long ago; he wasn't some decorated soldier with great achievements, but a failure.

Just as the two were about to continue talking, the sound of a helicopter came from the sky.

Gana stopped, and while turning back to grab his bow, he asked: "Are they your people?"

"No." Frank was in a bad mood. "But they've targeted the wrong person."

Gana was stunned; this brother was so arrogant? Listening to the sound, that's several armed helicopters!

Not far away, a goblin glider broke through the air.
