Orks were a peculiar species. Aside from dividing themselves into boyz, grots, and snotlings based on size, they also sorted themselves into more specific types according to each Ork's traits.
Those who liked using choppas were melee boyz. Those who liked building huge and very Waaagh! war machines were Mekboyz. Those who liked stitching all sorts of messy bionics onto Orks missing limbs were Painboyz...
And those who liked throwing flashy spells with their naturally powerful psychic abilities were Weirdboyz, also known as "I Fink" sorcerers.
If the mass of greenskins formed a Waaagh! energy network, then Weirdboyz were its output terminals.
They could use the psychic power gathered by the Orks, but for that reason they were also extremely unstable.
And Ironfang was the biggest, greenest, most Waaagh! Weirdboy in the tribe.
In its eyes, green was beautiful and big was good, so it loved handcrafting huge green lightning arcs and blasting everything it could see into the sky, whether that target was a humie or another greenskin boy.
The joy of an "I Fink" sorcerer was difficult for ordinary boyz to understand. After all, the one throwing destructive psychic energy was the sorcerer, while the ones getting blown sky-high were the ordinary boyz.
"Oi! My lightning's comin'! Any lad who don't wanna turn into cooked mushrooms, get clear!"
Ironfang shouted a warning with all the practical value of nothing at all while hurling a huge mass of green lightning toward the fiercest part of the fighting.
At once, many boyz, along with the humies fighting them, were blasted into pieces.
Just as Ironfang laughed at the mangled humies and the unlucky boyz caught in its blast, a fierce gale suddenly came howling straight from the side.
More precisely, it was not a gale at all, but the wind kicked up by a Chimera armored transport charging at top speed.
This steel beast looked like it was recklessly smashing its way forward, yet it somehow managed to drift with incredible precision to dodge the impact of red-painted Ork buggies and the bombardment of snazzguns.
And standing atop it was a tall, powerfully built beauty.
From time to time, she swung the warhammer in her hands, batting away bomb-carrying suicide boyz into the Ork crowd, where they exploded and sent groups of bewildered greenskins flying.
Gaia narrowed her long eyes, slapped the steel plating beneath her feet, and shouted down into the vehicle:
"Watch that Ork throwing lightning. We need to take it alive."
Commissar Horne calmly shifted gears. After a brutal drifting stop, he drove straight toward the greenskin target Gaia had pointed out.
Ironfang split its mouth in a savage grin.
To it, these humies were simply seeking death.
"Stupid humies, get blasted ta bits under my flashy lightning!"
Ironfang raised both hands high. Powerful psychic energy was drawn from the Waaagh! network around it, gathering into its palms and transforming into green arcs filled with destructive force.
It roared and aimed the crackling mass of destruction at the oncoming Chimera, preparing to unleash it.
Then, in the very next moment, it suddenly wilted like something that had lost all its strength, and even its skin seemed a little less green.
The fierce knot of lightning in its hands, which had looked like a writhing heap of noodles, simply fizzled out like a firecracker doused in piss.
What just happened?
Ironfang was completely dumbfounded.
Where'd my flashy lightning go? How'd it just vanish with a whoosh?
That ain't right.
But what happened next shocked it even more. As the Chimera roared right up into its face, it somehow pulled off an absurdly sharp locked-track turn at the last second.
Then, before it could make sense of anything, a powerful hand seized it and lifted it off the ground.
On the roof of the vehicle, Gaia pinned down the struggling Ork beneath her powerful thighs while ordering Horne to drive toward the Warboss's position.
Ironfang fell into a rare state of Ork panic.
Because at that moment, it could no longer feel the Waaagh! energy that should have been surging around it, nor could it hear the whispers it regarded as Gork and Mork's encouragement.
The feeling of losing the most important thing in its life was like a fish being stripped of its gills, or a bird having its wings torn away.
The "I Fink" sorcerer would never be happy again.
In its panic and rage, it struggled with all its strength, but all its resistance earned it was Gaia coldly snapping all four of its limbs.
There was not a trace of mercy in Gaia's beautiful eyes, only hatred and disgust for xenos.
That hatred came from humanity's darkest age, from the agonized echo left within the soul of the entire species after countless xenos had committed their cruelest atrocities against mankind.
Looking at the greenskin growling in pain, Gaia forcefully restrained the urge to tear it apart.
Her cold gaze shifted forward and landed almost provocatively on the huge Warboss.
And the latter had already noticed this steel beast from the humies.
It sneered at the overconfident humies and let out a low growl to those beside it.
At once, several huge green brutes, each no weaker than the Ork boss Gaia had crushed to death with one impact when she first arrived on Klaurund, came howling forward in a charge.
"WAAAAAGH!"
At the same time, several Ork battlewagons with absurdly oversized cannons swung their barrels toward the overconfident Chimera.
Faced with a scene that was almost a certain death trap, Gaia slowly curled her lips into a smile.
These arrogant Orks thought they controlled the field.
But what they did not know was this:
"You are the challengers."
Gaia hoisted the crippled Ironfang high overhead, then roared and hurled it with all her strength toward the Warboss.
"Horne, brake!"
As the Chimera slammed into a sudden stop, Ironfang, flung forward at tremendous speed, quickly passed out of Nia's anti-psyker field.
At once, the familiar Waaagh! energy surged back into its body.
But this time, Ironfang felt no joy at all.
As an output terminal of the massive Waaagh! network, Ironfang had previously been in dynamic balance with the psychic power of countless greenskins, which kept it relatively stable.
But now, after being cut off by Nia's Untouchable field and then suddenly reconnecting to that network, all the psychic power that had already been stabilized came flooding back at once, enough to burst its body apart.
Dark green ripples spread across Ironfang's flesh, and grotesque swelling appeared all over its body.
Ironfang had become a living psychic bomb.
"I fink... am I gonna die?"
That was its last thought.
Then its body finally swelled to the limit and erupted in a horrifying explosion in midair.
A vast psychic shriek swept across the battlefield. The Ork bosses charging forward all collapsed screaming as the Waaagh! field spun out of control.
Their brains were burned into smoking lumps of char, and the vehicles held together by "I Fink" power all immediately shut down.
Gala Gala also let out a pained growl.
But although it had been heavily wounded by the psychic shockwave, its terrifying body still retained immense strength.
Gaia took a deep breath. She knew this was their only chance.
She leaped from the roof of the vehicle, her tall, slender body raising the warhammer high overhead, curving through the air like a perfect crescent moon.
"Fight!"
