Chapter 128: A Kingdom Awakening

The journey back to Solaryn felt different.

Not because the road had changed.

Because they had.

The forests seemed older.

The rivers deeper.

The stars brighter.

Every ruin they passed.

Every ancient stone marker.

Every forgotten monument hidden among the hills—Kael found himself wondering:

Who built this?

Who walked here before us?

What did they leave behind?

The world no longer felt like a place filled with monsters and kingdoms. It felt layered.

As if history rested on history.

Civilization built atop civilization.

Memory upon memory and somewhere beneath it all—The First Age still breathed.

Travelers' Tales. The further south they traveled, the stranger the stories became.

At an inn near the northern border of Eryndor, they overheard merchants speaking in hushed voices.

"A stone circle appeared in Ironreach."

"They say it wasn't there yesterday."

"No, no—my cousin saw it. Ancient symbols and everything."Another merchant leaned forward."I heard an entire ruin rose from the sea near Storm Coast." "Impossible."

"That's what everyone said."

The conversations continued.

An old temple awakening in Verdantia.

A mountain cave glowing at night.

Strange lights moving through the wilderness.

Every story sounded unbelievable.And yet

After everything they had seen—None of them felt impossible anymore.

The Capital in Motion. When Solaryn finally came into view, Kael almost didn't recognize it.The city was alive with activity.More soldiers.More messengers.More banners.

Caravans entered and left the gates constantly.Scholars hurried through the streets carrying scrolls.Aegis patrols had doubled. The kingdom wasn't panicking.

But it was preparing.

Preparing for something it didn't yet understand.

The King's Council

They were summoned immediately.

No time to rest.No time to clean the dust of travel from their clothes.Straight to the palace.Straight to the council chamber.

King Godfrey stood beside a massive map of Eryndor. And for the first time in a long while—He looked tired. Not physically.Burdened.

The room was already filled.

Several high-ranking Aegis commanders.

Royal scholars.Political advisors.

Members of the King's Guard.

And to Kael's surprise—Bram and the others.

Réunion. The moment Bram saw him, he stood. Then stopped and then frowned.

"You look different."That seemed to be everyone's first observation lately.

"Apparently I do."Bram looked him up and down."You found weird ruins."

Kael laughed."We found weird ruins."

The two clasped forearms.A simple gesture.

Yet somehow—It felt good.

Like coming home.The others joined.

Lira smiled.Nyra looked relieved.Tovin nodded. For a brief moment—The weight of ancient civilizations and forgotten gods faded. They were just friends again. The Map

Godfrey cleared his throat.

Everyone turned. The map before him had changed.Dozens of new markers covered it.

Ancient sites.Awakened ruins.

Unexplained phenomena.

Far more than anyone expected.

"This happened in less than two weeks."

The King said quietly.Silence followed.

Because the scale of it was staggering.

"The world is waking up."Lyra whispered.

Godfrey looked toward her."Yes."A pause.

"And I don't believe it's going to stop."

The Scholars' Theories

The royal scholars had spent days trying to understand the phenomenon.

None of them agreed.

One believed the stars had shifted.

Another blamed ancient magic.

A third insisted it was connected to the Devourers. One elderly scholar claimed the world was simply "stretching after a long sleep."Nobody knew what that meant.

Not even him.The Report

Kaelen finally stepped forward.Then

For the next hour—They told the King everything. The Valley of Echoes.

The Aurelith city.The Threshold.

The Final Protocol.The First War.

The truth of the Devourer Lords.

And finally—The Forgotten God.

Silence.Long silence.

Godfrey slowly looked at Kael.

"...You had quite the trip."

No one laughed.Though several people looked like they wanted to.A New Name

When the report ended, the King dismissed everyone except the core group.

The room suddenly felt smaller.More personal.Godfrey looked toward Kael.

Then at the bracelet."The Starbound Bracelet."A pause.

"The legends are true after all."

"You know about it?"Kael asked.

The King nodded."Only fragments."

"Stories." "Old myths."He smiled.

"I never expected to see it."The Forgotten God.King Godfrey walked toward the balcony. The setting sun painted the city gold.

"Every kingdom has stories." "Heroes."

"Saints." "Deities."He looked toward the horizon."But every now and then…"

He turned back.

"A story turns out to be real."A New Mission

The King placed a hand upon the map.

Specifically—On the northernmost marker.

The Observatory of the Last Star.

"You're going here."Everyone blinked.

"Immediately?"Varyn asked."Not alone."

The King smiled."I believe this mission requires a larger team."Together Again

He looked toward Bram and the others.

Then toward Kael."You've all spent enough time apart."For a moment—Nobody spoke.

Then Bram grinned."Finally."Nyra smiled.

Even Tovin looked pleased.Kael couldn't help smiling too.Because despite everything that had changed—Some things remained the same. And somehow—That mattered.

Late that night, Kael stood upon the palace balcony. The city below was alive. The stars above were endless. The bracelet on his wrist glowed softly. Then,For the first time—A new symbol appeared upon its surface. An eighth star.Kael frowned.

There were only supposed to be seven.

The symbol pulsed once.Then faded.

Far beyond the world—Something ancient stirred. And a voice echoed through the darkness."The Eighth has awakened."

Silence followed.Then countless eyes opened.
