Leaving Scott Lang waiting outside, Chu He walked with Tony toward the laboratory.
"How did it go?" Chu He asked as they approached. "Any mutations?"
"The results are excellent," Tony replied immediately, his voice carrying unmistakable excitement. "No mutation whatsoever."
Even for someone like Tony Stark, successfully developing a serum that surpassed the limits of modern science was a huge accomplishment. The sense of achievement was obvious on his face.
As they spoke, the two of them stepped inside the lab.
The first thing Chu He saw was Deadpool pulling off his red combat suit.
What appeared underneath surprised him more than he expected.
Instead of the horribly scarred face he had anticipated, Deadpool now had a fairly handsome face. The grotesque burn scars that had once covered his skin were completely gone.
The moment Deadpool spotted Chu He, he immediately burst into exaggerated praise.
"BOSS! You are absolutely the greatest boss in the entire Marvel universe!" Deadpool shouted enthusiastically. "I love you so much I could die! If you want, I'll even dedicate my most precious treasure to you—"
He paused dramatically.
"—and next time I see Rob Liefeld, I'll use this handsome face to mock him properly!"
While Deadpool rambled on excitedly, Chu He was quietly analyzing the situation in his mind.
Deadpool's disfigurement had originally been caused by the constant conflict between his cancer cells and his abnormal regeneration ability. The two forces fought endlessly inside his body, producing the grotesque scarring that had defined his appearance.
Now that the scars had disappeared, there were only two plausible explanations.
The first possibility was that the evolutionary serum had created a stabilizing balance between the regeneration ability and the cancer cells, effectively neutralizing the conflict.
The second possibility was that either the cancer cells or the regeneration ability had been eliminated entirely. If one of them was gone, there would no longer be any internal rejection.
Which one it was remained unclear.
There was also another question that crossed Chu He's mind.
If Deadpool no longer had the horrifying scars on his face, would the embodiment of Death still be interested in him? After all, the reason Death had been drawn to Deadpool in the first place was because his scarred appearance resembled a skeletal figure.
"Wade," Chu He said calmly, interrupting Deadpool's rambling. "Test your regeneration ability. See if it's still there, and if so, how it compares to before."
"Got it!"
Deadpool barely finished speaking before he grabbed the katana resting nearby.
Without the slightest hesitation, he swung the blade and sliced his own arm clean off.
Tony immediately inhaled sharply.
"This guy is insane," Tony muttered under his breath.
Chu He was also momentarily speechless.
He had clearly said to check whether the regeneration ability still existed, meaning it might have disappeared entirely. Yet Deadpool had jumped straight to cutting off his arm without a second thought.
Deadpool, however, behaved as if nothing unusual had happened.
He calmly picked up the severed arm from the floor and pressed it against the stump. After roughly twenty seconds, the arm reattached itself completely, the flesh knitting together until the injury vanished entirely.
Deadpool flexed his fingers and rotated his shoulder experimentally.
"Hmm," he said after a moment of consideration. "Looks like it's a few seconds faster than before."
Regardless of the exact reason, the result was clear.
Deadpool's body had returned to normal.
At the very least, his regeneration ability was still intact. As for whether the cancer cells had disappeared, Deadpool himself clearly didn't care, and Chu He wasn't particularly interested in investigating unless he suddenly had too much free time.
"Now try punching the air in front of you," Chu He instructed.
As he spoke, he constructed several invisible telekinetic barriers of varying strength directly in front of Deadpool.
The first barrier had the strength equivalent to ten tons.
Deadpool punched forward casually.
The telekinetic wall shattered instantly.
Next came the fifteen-ton barrier.
Deadpool smashed through it just as easily.
Twenty tons.
Still shattered.
Twenty-five tons.
Thirty tons.
Forty tons.
Finally, the test stopped when Deadpool struck the forty-five-ton telekinetic barrier. That barrier held firm, preventing his fist from breaking through.
Chu He nodded slightly in satisfaction.
Without warning, he condensed a burst of atomic collapse energy and fired it directly toward Deadpool.
However, Deadpool seemed to sense the attack in advance.
He casually sidestepped the incoming blast, avoiding it entirely.
Spider-sense was still active.
Not bad at all.
"Boss," Deadpool said suddenly, pointing at Chu He with mock seriousness. "If you're going to kill me, you have to pay for it. Since you're my boss, I'll give you the friendship price—one hundred thousand dollars per death. I can't go any lower than that. For other people the starting price is three hundred thousand."
"Shut up," Chu He said flatly. "Say one more word and I deduct your pay."
That threat worked instantly.
Deadpool snapped his mouth shut without another sound.
Chu He crossed his arms and thought about the results carefully.
Overall, he was extremely satisfied with the performance of the evolutionary serum.
Before receiving the injection, Deadpool's physical abilities—aside from his abnormal regeneration—were only at the upper limit of ordinary human potential.
In the Marvel universe, the theoretical strength limit for a normal human was roughly double their own body weight. Including the force generated by a punch, Deadpool's maximum striking power before enhancement had been around five hundred kilograms.
Now he could deliver attacks equivalent to forty-five tons.
That represented an increase of roughly ninety times his previous strength.
As for regeneration ability, it was harder to measure precisely.
However, considering that Deadpool's already abnormal regeneration had become noticeably faster after the injection, the regenerative power granted by the evolutionary serum was clearly significant.
Most importantly, Spider-sense had remained intact.
That ability was what Chu He valued most.
Physical enhancement ranked second.
Regeneration ability ranked third.
"Wade," Chu He said after finishing his analysis, "your new roommate is waiting outside. Go meet him. I think you'll like him."
Deadpool immediately pulled his combat suit back on and dashed toward the exit.
If he kept his mouth shut any longer, he felt like he might suffocate.
Tony watched him leave before turning back toward Chu He with curiosity written all over his face.
"Where on earth did you find a guy like that?" Tony asked. "Did you secretly travel to another universe or something? And you didn't even take me with you. I'm supposed to be your best friend! What's another universe like anyway? Is it the same as ours?"
"This guy got hit by my car accidentally," Chu He replied calmly. "As for traveling to other universes, I don't have that ability yet."
Tony immediately caught the wording.
"Yet?" he repeated. "So you might have that ability in the future? In that case, you definitely have to bring me along."
He paused for a moment before continuing excitedly.
"And speaking of other universes, when are we going to Kamar-Taj? I can't wait. Is there anything I should prepare before we go?"
Chu He rubbed his temples.
Was Deadpool's nonstop talking contagious?
How had Tony suddenly become this chatty?
"Shut up," Chu He snapped.
His head was starting to ache. For the first time, he truly understood how Pietro must have been feeling recently. Living with someone like Deadpool nearby must have been exhausting.
"Tony," Chu He said after taking a breath, "prepare another serum. I'm going to inject it."
Tony frowned immediately.
"Even though Wade succeeded, he's only one example," Tony said seriously. "That doesn't prove the serum is universally safe. Besides, Wade is a special case. His original regeneration ability might be the reason the enhancement worked so well. I'd recommend testing two or three more human subjects first."
Chu He shook his head with a small smile.
"You might not know this," he said calmly, "but my regeneration ability is no worse than Wade's."
As he spoke, Chu He extended his arm.
A blade formed from telekinetic energy appeared instantly. With a swift motion, he sliced deeply across his own arm, leaving a bone-deep wound.
Two seconds later, the wound had completely healed.
Tony stared at the regenerated skin in stunned silence.
After a moment, he could only shrug helplessly.
"Alright," Tony said. "You're officially a complete freak."
He gestured toward the lab equipment.
"Come on. Give me some blood, and I'll start mixing your serum."
