Soon, Liam was the only one left standing in the hall.
The silence settled heavily after the battle, broken only by the faint hum of the building's systems. Bodies lay scattered—mutants frozen in place, Reeva unconscious, and the three Stepford Cuckoos still down from the backlash of their own failed attack.
Liam walked over to Reeva without hesitation.
He didn't waste time. Activating his newly acquired ability, he reached out with his mind and forcefully entered her mental world.
The transition was immediate.
Fragments of memory unfolded before him—scattered images of Reeva's life. He saw glimpses of her past, her younger self before everything had gone wrong. Back then, she had been gentle, almost fragile, nothing like the hardened woman she had become.
But then came the turning point.
The loss of someone close to her—her closest friend. That moment had shattered something inside her, twisting grief into something darker, something that had eventually led her down this path.
Liam didn't linger.
He had no interest in reliving her life story. With precise control, he located the key memory that had pushed her into this spiral and erased it completely. The emotional anchor that had fueled her transformation vanished in an instant.
Then he replaced it.
A new memory took its place—one centered on him.
Obedience. Loyalty. Recognition.
Once it was done, he withdrew from her mind.
Reeva lay there, unchanged on the surface, but fundamentally altered beneath.
Liam turned and moved on.
Rebecca was next.
She was still unconscious where she had fallen. Without hesitation, Liam invaded her mental space the same way. There was no need for subtlety. He planted a single, unshakable command deep within her psyche.
Recognize him as master.
It wasn't a suggestion. It wasn't something she could question or resist. It was absolute.
From this moment on, both Reeva and Rebecca would serve him without hesitation.
Only then did Liam walk over to the three Stepford Cuckoos.
Up close, the similarities were even more striking.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, identical features—down to the smallest detail. Their expressions were peaceful in unconsciousness, their forms perfectly matched in both face and figure.
Liam studied them for a moment, a faint interest flickering in his eyes.
Perfect symmetry.
They weren't just triplets. Originally, they had been part of something larger—clones of the White Queen. Five of them in total. The Hellfire Club had split them, keeping two as hostages to control the remaining three.
At least, that was how it was supposed to be.
Whether the other two were still alive…
Liam didn't dwell on it. Instead, he reached out with his mind again, entering the mental space of one of the sisters.
The moment he did, something unexpected happened.
His consciousness didn't just connect to one of them—it spread across all three simultaneously.
Their minds were linked.
A shared psychic network, a single unified consciousness split across three bodies. Thoughts flowed seamlessly between them, and through that connection, Liam could access all three sets of memories at once.
He saw everything.
Their creation by the Hellfire Club. Their forced obedience. The existence of the other two sisters, hidden away somewhere as leverage.
More importantly…
They were still alive.
Through the faint but persistent connection between all five, he could feel it. The bond hadn't been severed.
Then another realization surfaced.
Reeva knew where they were.
Liam immediately withdrew and reentered Reeva's mind, searching more precisely this time. It didn't take long to find what he needed.
The answer was almost absurdly simple.
The two missing sisters were hidden in the basement of this very building.
He opened his eyes, a faint smirk forming. Clever. Hiding them right under their own base of operations.
At that moment, the three Cuckoos stirred.
Their eyes opened in perfect synchronization.
Because Liam was still connected to their shared mental network, there was no barrier between them. His presence was already familiar to them, his thoughts brushing against theirs as naturally as their own.
They looked at him—not with hostility, but with something softer. Recognition. Curiosity. A strange sense of closeness.
Liam considered altering their memories like he had with the others.
But he stopped.
Instead, he chose a different approach.
Without speaking, he projected his thoughts directly into their minds.
"I know why you're working for the Hellfire Club. Your two sisters are being held hostage. I can help you get them back."
There were no secrets between them now. His words reached them instantly, clear and undeniable.
The three sisters exchanged glances.
Then, as one, they nodded.
"If you help us rescue them, we'll work for you."
"Deal," Liam replied without hesitation.
He had already verified their sincerity. There was no deception in their thoughts, no hidden agenda. Their desire was simple—bring their family back together.
That was something he could work with.
With that settled, Liam led them toward the underground levels of the building.
Guided by Reeva's memories, he navigated the hidden pathways with ease, eventually reaching a secured area deep beneath the structure.
Inside, the two missing sisters lay in stasis.
They were asleep, their bodies perfectly preserved.
Waking them wasn't difficult.
With a bit of manipulation—both physical and mental—the process was completed quickly.
Their eyes opened.
Five identical figures now stood together.
The psychic network expanded instantly, growing stronger with their reunion. What had once been stable now surged with new intensity, edging toward something greater. Their combined mental strength was approaching the threshold of a fourth-level mutant.
At the same time, Liam's own mind slipped into their network effortlessly.
But unlike the others, he stood at the center.
Absolute control.
"Master," the five sisters said in unison, bowing slightly.
Liam paused, then sighed lightly. "Yeah… let's not use that word," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Just call me Wes."
The title felt unnecessarily dramatic.
"Understood, Wes," they replied together.
Liam gave a small nod, satisfied. "Good. You'll continue helping Reeva manage this place. Don't worry—she's already under my control. From now on, this operation is yours."
"Yes."
With that settled, Liam led the five sisters back upstairs.
Just as they emerged, Thunderbird and Polaris returned from their search.
They weren't alone.
The Strucker family was with them.
"Weiss," Polaris said, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked past him. "What's going on with them?"
Her gaze lingered on the five identical sisters standing behind him. She clearly recognized them—they had been part of the Hellfire Club.
Thunderbird and the others looked equally confused.
"They were being coerced," Liam explained briefly. "Their sisters were taken hostage. That's why they were working for the Hellfire Club."
That was enough.
The group accepted the explanation without much resistance.
Clarice, however, stared at the five with open amazement. "That's… actually kind of incredible," she said. "Five of them. And they're exactly the same."
"Alright," Liam said, shifting his focus back to the Struckers. "Since everything's handled, let's get you out of here."
Reed stepped forward, gratitude clear on his face. "Thank you. Really."
He understood what could have happened if Liam hadn't intervened. At best, they would have been imprisoned. At worst… used.
His wife, Caitlin, nodded as well. "We owe you."
Behind them, Lauren and Andrew looked at Liam with a mix of curiosity and awe, clearly trying to process everything that had just happened.
Liam waved it off casually. "Don't worry about it. Let's move."
To him, the important part wasn't the rescue itself.
It was the opportunity.
Reed, after all, wasn't just an ordinary man.
If Liam remembered correctly, Reed carried a dormant mutant gene—one that had been suppressed since childhood by special medication. If that suppression ever broke…
Things could get dangerous very quickly.
That was something Professor X would need to know.
And for Liam—
It meant one more potential ability waiting to be claimed.
