Chapter 69 - Chapter 27: 7:When Greed Meets a Scam Artist Drew Buys Trouble

Drew was dragged away by Lucas's men despite his struggles. They eventually knocked him unconscious.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a large bed.

Panic surged through him.

He jumped up and rushed to the door, grabbing the handle and pulling with all his strength, but it didn't budge.

He ran to the window next, only to discover that it wouldn't open either.

That was when he noticed something strange.

His clothes had been changed.

He was wearing a silk pajama set, and the scent of roses lingered on his skin.

Drew hurried to the mirror. His breath hitched.

Normally, he dressed in a way that screamed wealth and attracted women for one-night stands. But the person staring back at him now looked completely different.

He looked softer.

Cuter.

Almost delicate.

His hair had been styled, and he smelled faintly of roses and milk.

Before he could process it, the door opened.

A woman walked in.

"Hmm," she said, looking him up and down. "It seems I didn't waste my money after all."

Drew glared at her.

"Who are you? Let me go! I'm warning you, if you don't let me out, you'll regret it. I'll call the police. This is kidnapping!"

The woman merely folded her arms.

"When you were borrowing money and flaunting a fake wealthy lifestyle, did you ever stop to think you were digging your own grave?"

Drew's expression stiffened.

"What are you talking about?"

The woman smiled.

"Let me make it simple. From now on, you belong to me."

"What?"

"You'll take my family's surname."

Drew stared at her as if she had lost her mind.

"You should be thanking me," she continued. "I saved you from becoming a gigolo."

"Are you insane?" Drew shouted. "I'm not taking anyone's surname!"

The woman's smile disappeared.

"You don't seem to understand your situation yet."

She stepped closer.

"You have debts you can never repay. The people you owe wanted to sell you off. I was the one who bought your contract."

Drew felt his blood run cold.

"So be grateful, Drew."

The woman looked him directly in the eye.

"Because from today onward, you are mine."

"Over my dead body!" Drew yelled, rushing at her.

The woman simply waved her hand. Two armed men instantly entered the room, and Drew's legs gave out from sheer terror.

The woman walked over to Drew and kicked him squarely in the chest."Lesson one: you get beaten up if you try to attack me," she said, poking his head coldly.

"I have already talked to your family. I gave them enough money to leave the country and live a relaxing life where they won't lack anything. You have no one left but me now. You can visit your family, but only if you behave like a good boy. You will take my family name, and you will never be out of my sight. Everything you do, eat, or wear, I must know. You will follow me like a little tail."

She then looked up at the guards. "Drag him away. He will train with the other guys. The best one gets to stay. The others will be sold to a brothel."

Before Drew could even wrap his head around what was happening, he was dragged away.

Every single day, he regretted his greed so much. Why? Why did he not just stick to his normal life? He hadn't lacked anything back then; he could eat and do whatever he wanted.

Now, he had finally joined the wealthy life he always wanted, but not at all in the way he had envisioned.

Life in the training department was pure hell. It felt like total brainwashing.

He tried escaping and running away, but he was always caught, beaten, and tortured. Yet, in a twisted way, he was lucky to still have the woman's attention.

Whenever he broke the rules, she would change his punishment. Instead of torture, they would sleep together, lasting all day as if she wanted to suck him completely dry.

Eventually, the other men were sold off, while he was left behind as the woman's living husband. Physically, he didn't suffer, but he was completely trapped by a yandere and obsessed freak.

As for Amanda and Rachel, Amanda's flower business had blossomed greatly.

Rachel, meanwhile, found a job at a pet care center—a place where pets could be treated, groomed, or temporarily housed while their owners were away.

One evening, Rachel was working the late shift.

All the other employees had already gone home, and most of the pets had been picked up by their owners.

The store was quiet With her earphones on, Rachel cleaned the floor while dancing along to the music. She swayed her hips and spun the broom around like a microphone, completely lost in the rhythm.

Outside, a car pulled up.

Dylan stepped out with his five-year-old nephew. They had come to pick up the boy's dog.

Noticing that the store lights were still on, Dylan pushed the door open. It wasn't locked.

The uncle and nephew entered and immediately froze.

Rachel was dancing.

The little boy blinked in confusion, wondering why the lady was dancing with a broom.

Dylan, however, couldn't help but chuckle.

Neither of them announced their presence.

Instead, they sat down on the waiting room couch and watched the free performance.

Rachel turned around in the middle of a spin.

She froze.

"Aaaaah!"

The sudden sight of strangers in the store nearly gave her a heart attack.

Then she recognized Dylan—the handsome man who had saved her from falling the other day.

"Aaaaah!"

She screamed again.

This time from embarrassment.

Dylan covered his mouth, trying and failing to suppress his laughter.

This girl was becoming more interesting every time he met her.

Rachel quickly pulled out her earphones.

"Why are you here?" she asked, mortified.

"We came to pick up my nephew's dog," Dylan replied, pointing at the little boy beside him.

"Oh."

Rachel cleared her throat and tried to act as if nothing had happened.

"You should have come earlier. The poor puppy was sad being the only one left. All his friends had already gone home."

The little boy immediately looked guilty.

Rachel smiled and set her broom aside before grabbing a key from behind the counter.

"Come on. I'll take you to him."

The three of them headed upstairs.

As they walked, Dylan glanced around.

"So you work here now?"

Rachel nodded.

"My previous workplace shut down, so I started working here. They hired me because I'm studying medicine."

Dylan raised an eyebrow.

"Medicine?"

"Yep." Rachel grinned. "Before treating humans, I'm treating pets. I also help with diet plans and teach owners how to properly care for different animals. It's actually pretty interesting."

They reached a hallway lined with rooms.

Rachel unlocked one of the doors.

"This is the VIP pet section."

To be honest, Rachel was slightly jealous.

The pets staying in these rooms lived better than she did.

The moment the door opened, Dylan's nephew rushed inside.

The puppy was sleeping peacefully on a soft bed.

The boy carefully picked up his dog, hugging it tightly.

Rachel smiled.

"Let's head downstairs. I'll do one final checkup, then you guys can go home."

The boy nodded and hurried downstairs with the puppy in his arms.

Rachel locked the room behind them.

Dylan stood nearby, watching her.

"So you work the late shift and do the cleaning too?" he asked.

Rachel shrugged.

"I finish later because I usually wait for my friend to pick me up. We eat together and hang out before going home."

She jingled the keys in her hand.

"And honestly, if I can clean up dog poop all day, what's so strange about cleaning the floor?"

Dylan laughed.

"You've got a point."

Rachel looked at him suspiciously.

"Why? Do you hate cleaning?"

"Not really."

"Then stop judging me."Rachel said folding her hand.

Dylan shook his head, still smiling.

"I wasn't judging you."

The truth was that he simply found her fascinating.

Most people tried their best to impress him.

Rachel somehow managed to embarrass herself every time they met.

And yet, she never seemed fake.

"I'm just shocked, you know. Someone who can eat at NOX AURELIA Restaurant isn't exactly a nobody," Dylan said.

"Oh, stop it." Rachel waved him off. "Do you think we could actually afford that place? Even the guy who took us there—didn't you see the way he was dre—"

Rachel suddenly froze.

Her eyes widened.

She slapped a hand over her own mouth.

Dylan chuckled, trying not to laugh despite Rachel glaring at him.

He had expected her to come up with a lie about having rich relatives or secretly being wealthy.

Instead, it seemed her mouth always spoke before her brain.

"You two do know there's a child waiting downstairs, right?" Dylan's five-year-old nephew shouted from below. "How many hours does it take to exchange phone numbers?"

Rachel coughed awkwardly.

"Coming!"

The two of them went downstairs. Rachel performed one final checkup on the puppy before handing it over.

Before leaving, Dylan smiled.

"Can I have your number?"

Rachel hesitated for a second before giving it to him.

From that day on, they talked almost every day.

Eventually, they started dating then Theo was introduced to Amanda and they had happy ending
