Chapter 78 - 78: I'm Disappointed

"What is this?!"

Muzan's pupils shrank. He immediately activated rapid regeneration, attempting to sever the burning sections.

But he had underestimated the speed of Amaterasu's spread.

The black flames raced along the tendrils, closing in on his main body at terrifying speed.

A searing pain struck directly at the depths of his soul.

"Cut them off!" Muzan shrieked.

Kokushibo, standing to the side, endured the lingering numbness in his arms and swung his flesh-forged blade.

Moon Breathing, Fifth Form: Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy!

Crescent-shaped slashes overlapped in a chaotic web, severing the nine barbed tendrils at their base before the black flames could spread further.

The severed appendages fell to the ground and were quickly reduced to nothing under Amaterasu's relentless flames.

Muzan breathed heavily, his gaze fixed on the patch of black fire still burning the earth. Fear and uncertainty flickered across his face as cold sweat slid down his pale forehead.

If Kokushibo had been even a moment slower, and those flames had reached his main body… he would have died.

This was not a power any human should possess.

Those scarlet eyes and that intricate pattern were even more terrifying than Tsugikuni Yoriichi's Sun Breathing from centuries ago.

"Already scared?"

Rin looked at the shaken Demon King, a cruel smile forming on his lips.

He made no move to summon Susanoo, nor did he unleash a large-scale technique like Kirin.

Against these beings who had tormented humanity for over a thousand years, killing them outright would be too merciful.

He would strip away their pride and hope, piece by piece.

"I haven't even warmed up yet, Muzan."

Rin stepped forward, the Kusanagi sword wrapped in crackling lightning held loosely in his hand.

The night wind stirred his hair, and his scarlet eyes shone like those of a god of death in the darkness.

"Use every Blood Demon Art and every desperate trick you've accumulated over the past thousand years."

"Let me see how long a cockroach calling itself a perfect being can struggle in true despair."

The provocation shattered what remained of Muzan's restraint.

"Kill him! At any cost, kill him!!!"

Muzan's body began to warp. His skin split apart as pale bone spurs erupted from his joints, and a dense cloud of poisonous blood mist spread around him.

Kokushibo drew in a slow breath. The flesh blade in his hand expanded, branching out into countless grotesque extensions.

He unleashed his full power, all six eyes locked onto Rin.

Akaza climbed out of the crater, his battle spirit surging to its peak as the Compass Needle array expanded beneath his feet once more.

Three overwhelming demonic auras, enough to distort the very air, converged over the battlefield.

Rin halted his steps and casually placed a hand behind his neck, cracking it.

"Now this is getting interesting."

"Come on… entertain me as much as you can."

...

The wind over the wilderness came to a sudden halt.

It wasn't a natural calm. The killing intent saturating the air had grown so dense that it physically stifled the flow of wind.

Kibutsuji Muzan stood at the rear, his pale face bulging with veins from sheer rage.

His arms had already transformed into dark red whips, their surfaces lined with sharp barbs and exuding a nauseating scent of blood.

Akaza and Kokushibo flanked him on either side. The two strongest Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki released the murderous aura they had accumulated over centuries without restraint.

"Do it. Don't give him a moment to breathe."

Swoosh!

Akaza moved first.

The snowflake pattern beneath his feet expanded several times in an instant, a pale blue glow illuminating the ground beneath him.

Technique Development: Destructive Death, Annihilation Type!

There was no probing strike. This was a full-force killing blow.

Akaza's right fist condensed all the battle spirit in his body. Before the punch even landed, the ground in a ten-meter fan-shaped area ahead was scraped away by the pressure alone.

The speed of the strike shattered the sound barrier, producing a series of explosive sonic booms as it drove straight toward Rin's heart.

Faced with this punch capable of reducing solid rock to dust, Rin didn't even blink.

Only when the pressure of the blow swept his bangs aside did he casually raise his right hand, spreading his fingers to meet it.

"You are dead!" A cruel gleam flashed in Akaza's eyes.

To receive his Annihilation Type with bare flesh— even the Stone Hashira with the Demon Slayer Mark would have their arm shattered instantly.

Fist met palm.

The moment they made contact, Akaza felt the immense force behind his strike vanish without a trace.

"Your punch is as light as cotton."

Rin's hand closed around Akaza's fist. He didn't even take half a step back.

In the next instant, a surge of azure lightning flickered in his palm.

High-density Lightning Release chakra surged through the point of contact, piercing directly into Akaza's body.

"Arrrrrrgggh!"

Akaza's body convulsed violently as the lightning instantly charred the muscles in his arm.

He tried to pull back, but found himself completely unable to move.

Moon Breathing, Fourteenth Form: Catastrophe, Tenman Crescent Moon

A low, hoarse voice sounded from the side.

Kokushibo had struck.

His flesh-forged blade spun into a seamless wheel of light, unleashing countless massive crescent slashes, each accompanied by smaller, irregular blades, cascading toward Rin like a storm.

The timing was perfect, striking the exact moment Rin had restrained Akaza with one hand.

"Impressive swordsmanship. Unfortunately, too slow."

Rin sneered.

Without releasing Akaza, he used him as leverage and launched himself into the air.

At the same time, his left hand swung the Kusanagi sword in a casual arc.

"Lightning Release: Chidori Blade."

A dark purple arc of lightning slashed outward.

The lightning collided with the crescent blades midair.

The moment they made contact, Kokushibo's attacks shattered like rotten wood against the dense lightning chakra.

The strike tore through everything and continued forward, slashing across Kokushibo's chest.

Puchi!

A deep, bone-cutting wound opened across his torso as blood sprayed outward.

He staggered back, his feet carving trenches into the ground as he retreated dozens of meters before stabilizing himself.

All six of his eyes widened in shock.

This opponent was even more terrifying than Tsugikuni Yoriichi.

"Don't hesitate! He's no ordinary human!"

Muzan's roar came from behind.

Seizing the moment while Rin was still airborne, Muzan attacked.

The flesh on his back split open as nine dark red, barbed tendrils burst forth.

Black Blood Brambles!

The whips shot forward at extreme speed, carrying lethal poison that could destroy cells on contact.

They wove together into a massive net, sealing off every escape route in midair.

"So eager to die?"

The darkness in Rin's eyes receded, replaced by the crimson hexagram of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

Under his heightened vision, Muzan's lightning-fast attacks slowed into clear, traceable movements.

Rin took a deep breath, his chest expanding as fire-attribute chakra condensed within him.

"Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique."

Boom!

Several massive torrents of flame, shaped like roaring dragons, burst from his mouth.

The blazing inferno surged forward, instantly engulfing the nine poisonous whips.

Sizzle~~!

Muzan's Black Blood Brambles emitted a sharp, scorched stench under the extreme heat.

The flames not only incinerated the whips but raced along them toward Muzan's body.

His face drained of color as he immediately severed his connection to the tendrils, retreating in a disheveled state.

After landing, Rin casually dropped the half-dead Akaza at his feet.

Holding the Kusanagi sword in one hand, his gaze swept over Muzan's grim expression, Kokushibo clutching his chest and struggling to breathe, and Akaza attempting to reconstruct his broken body.

"A coward who relies on tricks, a blind fool obsessed with his so-called swordsmanship, and trash who can't even throw a proper punch."

Rin's voice echoed across the wilderness, each word striking like a slap across the faces of these demons who had lived for centuries.

"This is what your thousand years of evolution amounts to?"

"I'm disappointed."

Humiliation.
