Chapter 136 - Chapter 136: Jessica's Initiative

The filming process itself became a catalyst for emotions.

To capture the most authentic emotional interaction, Jake Nava encouraged them to relax and interact and play like a real couple.

Landon was a professional; he could quickly get into character, leading a slightly green but exceptionally committed Jessica.

As for Jessica, during those moments of embracing, closeness, and gazing, her fan filter gradually merged with her character's emotions.

The way she looked at Landon was no longer just about admiring a star; it now held the love, dependence, and happiness that the character should feel.

These genuine reactions were faithfully recorded by the lens.

During a scene where they were laughing and dancing together, Landon deliberately made a few comical missteps to liven up the atmosphere, making Jessica burst into laughter.

Amidst the laughter, her arms naturally circled his neck. The distance between them was mere inches, their breaths mingling.

At that moment, the lights on set, the director's instructions, and the surrounding staff all seemed to blur, leaving only the clear reflections in each other's eyes and something quietly heating up in the air.

By the time Jake Nava finally shouted, "Wrap for today! Excellent job, you two!" the night was already deep.

The set began to clear as equipment was packed away, and the noise level rose.

Jessica didn't go to remove her makeup immediately. She walked over to Landon, who was drinking water to replenish his energy, her face still flushed with the lingering glow and joy of the shoot.

"Today... was truly satisfying." Her voice was softer than usual, carrying a hint of imperceptible nervousness, her eyes still sparkling as she looked at him. "Thank you for helping me get into character, Landon. It felt like I really experienced... something very beautiful." She paused slightly at the word "beautiful."

Landon set down his water bottle, clearly seeing the glimmer in her eyes—a mix of the character's lingering feelings and genuine affection.

A day of intimate filming, with those natural touches and laughter, had indeed closed the distance between them.

"You did a great job, Jessica. Very natural," Landon said with a smile.

Jessica pursed her lips as if making a small resolution, then invited him expectantly, "How about we go for a drink? I know a private lounge nearby that's very quiet."

Landon looked at the spark of anticipation in her eyes, recalling the natural intimacy that had grown during the day's shoot and her consistent, pleasing gaze of admiration.

Without much hesitation, he agreed.

"Sure," he nodded, his tone relaxed. "It's a good time to unwind. Let me just tell my assistant."

He gestured toward Zoe, who was tidying up nearby.

A bright smile immediately bloomed on Jessica's face, as if his agreement were some grand reward.

Landon turned to walk toward Zoe, knowing full well that tonight's drink wouldn't be just a simple relaxation between colleagues.

In the distance, Zoe saw the expression on Landon's face as he walked toward her. Glancing at Jessica Biel, who couldn't hide her happiness, Zoe curled her lip almost imperceptibly and silently pulled out her phone to arrange a car from the hotel. She knew she would be going back alone again.

Landon walked toward his Mercedes with Jessica. Seeing Zoe on the phone in the distance, he could only silently apologize in his heart.

Landon helped open the rear door, then walked over to Bruce to give him the address before circling to the other side of the back seat and getting in.

The bar's lighting was deliberately dimmed, turning the surrounding figures and conversations into a blurred background noise.

A small jazz band in the corner played a lazy blues melody.

Landon and Jessica Biel sat in a relatively secluded booth, a cocktail in front of each of them.

After a day of intimate filming, both had dropped their initial reserve, and their conversation now felt more like friends relaxing.

Somehow, the topic shifted to Landon's early experiences.

Perhaps to explain how he could get so "into character," Landon brought up the TV casting controversy that had changed his trajectory.

"So," Jessica said after listening, leaning forward slightly, her eyes sparkling with wonder like a child who had discovered treasure.

"You were originally going to audition for a minor terrorist role that would be killed off in an episode or two? And just because of the news reports, it turned into a major supporting role in the series?"

She couldn't help but laugh, her laughter bright and crisp, sounding exceptionally vibrant against the soothing background music. "Wow, that sounds even more dramatic than a TV script! Haha!"

Landon shrugged and took a sip of the cold liquid in his glass, a self-deprecating curve touching the corner of his mouth. "I guess it was... a blessing in disguise? Or, pure luck."

Landon spoke nonchalantly, but only he knew the heart-pounding intensity behind that experience.

As he spoke, his gaze couldn't help but fall on Jessica's face.

The flickering candlelight danced over her delicate features, particularly illuminating her expressive eyes.

At this moment, her gaze was clear and focused, filled with undisguised admiration, even adoration.

Landon had seen many complex expressions, but an admiration as direct, fervent, and simple as Jessica's felt exceptionally refreshing and enticing within his complicated social network.

He looked at her, forgetting for a moment to look away.

And Jessica, too, caught Landon's lingering gaze.

It was the gaze of a man attracted by her reaction in a dim, private setting—an undisguised stare filled with appreciation and inquiry.

Her heart rate immediately quickened, and a surge of heat, a mix of shyness and a bolder impulse, rushed to her cheeks and ears.

Alcohol, music, dim lighting, the intimacy accumulated throughout the day, and the silent sparks flying from their meeting eyes... all these factors converged into a powerful push at this moment.

Jessica followed her most direct inner impulse. She rose slightly, leaning her upper body across the small table. Her expressive eyes quickly filled Landon's vision, and then, her red lips pressed directly onto his.

The touch was warm and soft, carrying the faint sweetness of her champagne and the fresh, enticing fragrance unique to a young woman.

After a brief moment of shock, Landon responded almost instinctively.

His hand cupped the back of her neck, his fingertips sinking into her soft hair as he deepened and prolonged this sudden kiss.

The noise from the bar corner, the jazz melody, and even time itself seemed to fade and vanish in this ecstatic kiss.

Only the warmth and breath exchanged between their lips were real.

When they finally pulled apart slightly, foreheads touching and breaths ragged, they both clearly saw the undisguised flames of passion ignited in each other's eyes at such close range.

No further words were needed. Their eyes had exchanged all intentions.

Landon gestured for the waiter to bring the check.

Jessica quickly tidied her slightly messy hair and clothes, her cheeks crimson, but her eyes shining brilliantly.

Leaving the bar, the cool night air of New York did not dissipate the heat in their hearts.

Without discussing a destination, they went straight to the hotel where Jessica was staying.
