After a whole week of mock exams, the students chatted happily in the hallway; they could finally rest after a week of late-night study and caffeine chugging.
Relief was everywhere.
For the final-year students, however, they were excited for something more than the end of their mock exams.
Their final-year excursion.
It was a long-standing tradition at Ming De High School that after the end of the final-year mock exams, the school would sponsor a fully funded three-day trip to anywhere in the world. They were a school of the elite after all, so they could very much afford the expense. If anything, it was expected.
It was also symbolic. It was considered their last moment of rest, a final breath before the storm.
Because once they returned, there would be no more distractions, only the brutal, all-consuming preparation for the national college entrance exams looming just two months away. It sounded distant, but everyone knew how quickly time flew under pressure.
