Chapter 72 - 72 : The Supermarket Sale

"If you're really a powerful hero, then stop me!" Asura Kabuto bellowed, raising his right arm and pointing directly at Sol Mirek.

Sol watched the berserk monster now fully in Asura Mode, a flicker of excitement lighting his eyes. A playful curve lifted his lips. "You finally decided to get serious?"

"Be careful, Senior! His aura has spiked multiple times!" Genos called out, his combat sensor blaring alerts.

Dr. Genus lay on the ground nearby, a wild frenzy shining in his eyes. "Hahahaha! At last, at last, I will witness the limits of human evolution!"

Meanwhile, Saitama stood still, pupils trembling, sweat collecting on his bald head. Asura Kabuto's words had reminded him of something painfully real. If this monstrous state really lasted a week until next Saturday… that meant today was the supermarket sale day.

"Ohhh! Let us fight with everything we have!" Asura Kabuto roared, charging toward Sol with speed even greater than before.

Sol's pupils narrowed. With calm precision, he answered with a sweeping Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist. The two clashed again and again inside the laboratory, sonic booms cracking the air while shockwaves from their impacts etched spiderweb fractures into the walls.

"Die, die, die, die, die…" Kabuto's assault grew crazed and relentless, even forcing Sol into defensive stances for brief moments.

But as the fight continued, Sol's movements only became smoother, easier. The maddened Asura could not even graze his clothing.

That was because Kabuto's fighting style was primitive. Sol had already analyzed every move Kabuto could make, reading his patterns so thoroughly there were no surprises left.

"How is this possible! How is this possible!!!" Dr. Genus slumped forward, the strength draining from his limbs.

Even Asura Mode could not overwhelm him! Though Sol had inflicted limited damage, Kabuto was clearly degrading in strength over time.

Sol eyed the furious monster, growing slightly impatient. He had pushed Asura Kabuto far enough.

Sol deactivated all defensive measures, stood still with his hands in his pockets, and faced the flurry of incoming fist shadows without flinching. His voice was calm.

"The match is over."

"Die, die, die, die, die!" Kabuto screamed, charging once more.

His fist was only millimeters from Sol's face when crimson light erupted from his eyes and veins bulged across his forehead.

Then, Sol spoke in a commanding tone, "Psychokinesis, full power — stop."

An invisible force exploded outward. Asura Kabuto, suspended mid‑air, could not move another inch. It was as though time itself had frozen.

Even though Kabuto's fist was nearly touching Sol's face, under the oppressive force of Sol's psychokinesis that tiny distance felt like an entire galaxy wide.

Sol walked forward calmly, stopped before Kabuto, raised his right hand, and gently tapped the monster's forehead with a fingertip, his voice void of malice but filled with quiet resolve. "Disappear."

At once, Kabuto's massive body trembled violently. Tendons strained, metal armor creaked and cracked. Then —

"Bang!"

From within, Kabuto exploded. Flesh, fluids, and chunks of mechanical core flew in every direction. Sol's psychokinetic barrier blocked and contained all the splatter.

In an instant, the laboratory alarm silenced, and the crimson‑lit arena returned to plain white. Only green fluid slowly spreading across the floor remained as evidence that a being who once claimed perfection had existed here.

"What kind of power was that?" Dr. Genus stared wide‑eyed, unwilling to believe what he had seen.

Genos's mechanical optics glowed with curiosity. "Even though psychokinesis played a role, how could movements that slow unleash such destructive impact?"

Saitama stood nearby, pacing anxiously.

Sol Mirek, why were you showing off again?! If you kept this up, they'd miss the big sale!

"Sol! It looks like we're going to miss today's supermarket sale!" Saitama cried, sweat beading on his head.

"What! I totally miscalculated!" Sol snapped, holding his head in exasperation.

"What on Earth is this young man talking about?" Dr. Genus stared at Sol, baffled that he was upset after defeating Asura Kabuto.

"My teacher and Senior should be more worried about this," Genos said, handing a glossy flyer to Dr. Genus before dashing toward Saitama and Sol.

"Teacher, Senior," Genos said, breathless, "the supermarket closes at 10 PM."

"It's a four‑hour trip one way. If we hurry, we might still make it."

"We still have a chance if we move quickly, right?!" Sol and Saitama blurted together.

"Yes," Genos confirmed without hesitation.

"That's our real mission, Genos! We must get the discount vegetables from the aunties and uncles!" Saitama and Sol punched through the remaining walls of the laboratory and sprinted outside.

"Yes! Teacher! Senior!" Genos pushed his systems to keep pace with them.

Dr. Genus watched them dash off, flyer in hand, curiosity flickering within him. What was it that people like these — who had completed their evolution — cared about? Was this trivial rush for discount food somehow the key to human progress?

He read the flyer with trembling fingers: Saturday‑only Big Sale Extravaganza. Anger flared in him as he crushed the paper into a ball and tossed it aside. Then, inexplicably, relief washed over his expression.

Dr. Genus had always hoped humans would evolve into magnificent, capable beings. These three were unquestionably evolved — and yet they remained themselves, kind‑hearted, and focused on everyday life rather than destruction.

Wasn't this exactly the outcome he had always wished for?

"So that's it..." Dr. Genus murmured, sinking to the ground with a bittersweet smile. "This is what life after evolution looks like."

"What I've been pursuing was right in front of me the entire time."

"I'm the one who needs to change," he whispered as he watched the three figures fade into the distance, their laughter echoing with excitement as they chased after the supermarket sale.
