Chapter 167 - Chapter 166 Aegon: I think Dragon's Nest is more comfortable than King's Landing*

Conquest Era 134 passed with the grim news of Regent Daemon's death, but this year was not entirely bleak. Towards the end of the year, the snowstorms in the North gradually subsided. Lord Cregan Stark sent ravens to King's Landing and Dragon Nest City, informing the lords that winter was about to end. Temperatures in the Reach, Borderlands, and Dorne were also slowly rising, though both the Council in King's Landing and the New Citadel in Silver Crown City remained cautious.

Scholar Evans, who had become a full-fledged Scholar and was working towards becoming a Dr. while overseeing the New Citadel's teaching, and Archmaester Munkun of King's Landing, both believed that winter would last for at least another year. They wrote to Lord Cregan Stark, advising him to conserve grain in preparation for spring plowing.

The situation in the Vale improved significantly after the ambitious were punished. Artys Royce defeated the allied forces of the Mountain Clans, but encountered an ugly wild dragon foraging while pursuing the retreating Wildlings, and was forced to let that Wildling tribe go.

So from that day on, the wild dragon Sheepstealer, who stole sheep in the Vale, had a Wildling tribe named 'Scorching Tribe' under its name, even though this wild dragon, who stole sheep and burned people before flying back to Dragonstone without a word, knew nothing of this.

But it didn't matter, as the gods didn't force their followers to believe in them anyway, oh, except for those religions.

Also in this year, Dragonzel dispatched Tigaro, and this "Shadow Finger" arrived in King's Landing by ship. Ground was broken at the estate where Rhaenyra once prepared to hide from the King's Landing riots, to build a temporary residence in King's Landing for the Varezes family. As Aegon's King's Hand, Dragonzel would fly to King's Landing with his family to take charge after Aegon returned to King's Landing at the age of sixteen, until Aegon could skillfully master the governance of the Realm.

Tigaro had to complete this massive temporary residence within two years, but he could rest assured that dragons also participated in its construction. Dragonzel and Rhaegor personally rode Vermithor and Star Song to the construction site, and spewed a massive deep pit into the mountain where the estate was located. They also fired a large amount of black stone for the construction of this massive palace named 'Vaerezys Black Palace'.

That would become the temporary residence for dragons staying in King's Landing. Vermithor naturally became the King of this Dragon's Lair. Of course, when it was absent, the King of the Dragon's Lair would automatically transfer to a dragon with an advantage in size and strength. For example, if Vermithor went to King's Landing, the Dragonpit in Dragon Nest City would be managed by Silverwing, and conversely, if Vermithor returned to Dragon Nest City, the King of the 'Dragonpit' in King's Landing would also transfer to the dragon second only to Vermithor in size.

Dragonzel hated the Dragonpit in King's Landing. Even though Daemon reformed the Dragonpit's system, he still disliked that Dragonpit in King's Landing.

Conquest Era 135 was a peaceful year, so peaceful that later history books didn't know what to write, only hastily recording which noble children were born and which noble families had weddings that year.

Oh, although it may not seem historically important, there are some noteworthy and slightly eerie pieces of news. First, four of Dragonzel's five fingers left their single status, with the exception of Hofa.

Tigaro Dagareon married Damira Velaryon, a branch family girl of House Velaryon, through the matchmaking of Joffrey Velaryon and Dragonzel. This smiling silver-haired maiden gave birth to Tigaro's first child, a silver-haired boy with azure eyes, at the end of the same year. Tigaro named him Hagen.

Sebastian Blaze married the daughter of a prominent merchant from Summerhall. This merchant was also the Varezes family's exclusive merchant, having followed Dragonzel from Volantis all the way to Westeros. Along the way, this merchant almost lost everything, but ultimately regained even greater wealth than before. To prevent disputes, Dragonzel bestowed noble titles upon the merchant and his daughter, and personally presided over Sebastian's and Tigaro's weddings.

At the end of this year, Aslan Rondell also married Celia Saetherlys, a female commander of the Silver Blood Army. This silver-haired female knight came from a fallen noble family within the Black Wall, and Ancient Valyria blood flowed within her — though, of course, no Dragon King's blood. Her family had long since fallen and could only seek refuge with the Varezes family, with whom they had previously intermarried. In the Dorne conquest and the Dance of the Dragons, she achieved great military feats. Eventually, when she married Aslan, she already possessed the right to go directly to the Silver Blood Tower to meet Dragonzel.

Almost at the same time, Ago's child was born. This child, whom he named 'Asule', was given a sacred mission by his father from birth: 'You will eventually become Dragon Sand Great Kao, or the blood sworn of Rhaegor Kalaka, his eldest son who rides Winged Steeds. Do not bring shame upon your father and the entire Khalasar.' And it was as this year was drawing to a close that Prince Albin Dayne of Storm River accidentally fell from his horse while hunting, dying from his severe injuries. He left no children, so Count Quinlan Dayne of High Hermitage City inherited the 'title' of Prince of Storm River, while Obara Dayne served as Quinlan's Regent, helping him govern the Dayne family's territory.

Time finally moved to Conquest Era 136. In this year, Aegon turned sixteen. After celebrating his sixteenth nameday, the young king officially held his wedding with Samantha Varezes. Of course, the consummation would have to wait until Samantha's first moon blood.

Dragon Nest City, Twin Towers.

Aegon looked at this room, where he had lived for nearly ten years, and couldn't help but be filled with emotion. He would soon move out of here and return to King's Landing to sit on that Iron Throne.

To be honest, Aegon wasn't looking forward to it at all. He had returned to King's Landing several times in recent years, and had even flown back to King's Landing a few days before his nameday. Even though King's Landing, after being governed, was no longer as foul-smelling and chaotically laid out as it once was, Aegon, who had grown accustomed to living in Dragon Nest City, still felt very uncomfortable.

He felt that compared to Dragon Nest City and Summerhall, King's Landing was simply a cesspit.

This was true from every perspective.

"Aegon." Viserys, who had grown quite a bit, walked to his older brother's side. "Are all your things packed? We're returning to King's Landing tomorrow."

"To be honest, I really don't want to go back." Aegon covered his face. "Compared to Dragon Nest City and Summerhall, King's Landing is a huge cesspit."

"Aegon, I don't believe you don't understand this." Viserys sighed. He also hated to leave the comfortable Dragon Nest City, but they had to return to King's Landing.

"We are Targaryen, not Varezes."

Viserys said solemnly, "King's Landing belongs to us."
