Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Lady of the Dawn

Chapter 29: Lady of the Dawn

The negotiations went smoothly. The soldiers Dragonzel brought didn't have any effect either.

At least four Dragons took off, and no one said anything.

Climbing down the rope ladder hanging from Vermithor's saddle, Dragonzel turned his head and saw Valarr looking confused.

"Brother, what exactly was the result of the negotiations?"

Dragonzel took the light wine Sebastian Jieyan handed him, rinsed his mouth, and then answered his brother's question. "An identity, a proof, and a few hostages." Dragonzel placed the wine glass back in Sebastian's hand and continued to explain to his brother. "The bloodline left by Mother confirms our Royal Family status, which allows us to naturally integrate into Westeros's noble system and makes our established fact of possessing Dragons even more well-deserved." He paused, looking up at the Dragons in the sky. "After all, it was the Targaryen Dragonlords who ruled here for over a hundred years."

Vermithor and Silverwing circled leisurely above the fleet.

Dragonzel withdrew his gaze from the Dragons and continued, "The Dornish Marches are a very special place in Westeros. According to the information brought by Dr. Visari and Evans, this land is located in the Red Mountains and includes two areas: the eastern Marches of the Stormlands and the western Marches of the Reach. The Lords of these two areas respectively swear allegiance to House Baratheon of Storm's End and House Tyrell of Highgarden, but the nominal overlord of the Marches is House Tyrell of Highgarden." He summarized the situation of the territory. "The title of Lord of the Marches means we have the legal right to integrate the entire Marches after we establish a foothold."

Looking at his brother's confused eyes, Dragonzel continued to explain, "We have accepted the gods' reward. Establishing a foothold in Westeros and promoting the writing of that song of ice and fire is already a foregone conclusion. Therefore, we must consider how to maximize our interests and thus better participate in the gods' chessboard."

"Also, the right to conquer Dorne." Dragonzel mentioned the point he was relatively more interested in. "King Aegon I Targaryen once attempted to conquer Dorne, but his brutal conquest method instead united the Dornish people, ultimately leading to a regrettable failure. Although Dorne's area and population are at the bottom, it is rich in gold and copper, and its people are brave and skilled fighters, making it an excellent source of soldiers and a strong rear."

"So we are going to conquer that place called Dorne?" Valarr suddenly became excited.

"No rush." Dragonzel patted his brother's shoulder. "The top priority is to settle everyone in the Family."

"And also, and also." Valarr raised another question. "What is a squire?"

"Everywhere in Westeros except the North follows the Andal Faith of the Seven and inherits Andal culture. Knight culture originated from this. Knights who swear to fight for the gods and Lords not only need armor and warhorses but also the service of squires. Knights of humble origin either have no squires or their squires are commoners, but the squires of noble knights are often nobles themselves. Boys from noble backgrounds consider being a squire an important step on the path to knighthood." Dragonzel thought of the intelligence mentioned earlier. "Although Princess Rhaenyra's son's bloodline is questionable, he certainly has some courage, willingly coming here as a hostage, heh heh."

"Then what about us..." Valarr was still a bit confused.

"Just treat them like younger brothers," Dragonzel said. "After all, according to the current order of succession, Prince Daemon has sent over the future Crown Prince and the future Lord of Driftmark. And his eldest son, well, quite generous, Valarr, gather everyone, let's discuss the next plan."

Dragonstone.

Prince Jacaerys Velaryon stood alone outside his Mother's bedroom, seeming to have just had a fight with his Mother.

It wasn't 'seeming'. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen was furious because Jacaerys had willingly thrown himself out as a bargaining chip. If she weren't pregnant, she might have even wanted to hit Jacaerys.

Although she quickly sorted out the pros and cons and understood her son's actions, there was still an unnamed fire suppressed in her heart, like a Mother discovering her son was disobedient.

"Come in," Princess Rhaenyra finally adjusted her mood and called back the son she had just kicked out.

Only then did Jacaerys cautiously push open the door. Princess Rhaenyra, with a large belly on the bed, gave Jacaerys a glare.

"Next time something like this happens, remember to discuss it with me," Princess Rhaenyra said with a not-so-pleasant tone.

However, Prince Jacaerys smiled. After all, his Mother saying something like this meant she had forgiven his self-important actions.

Seeing her son's face suddenly brighten, Princess Rhaenyra couldn't help but smile as well.

After all, a Mother always worries about her child, and if the child is very outstanding, the Mother will also feel proud of the child, even if the child may not be so obedient.

Unlike the brief warmth on Dragonstone, a ship on the Narrow Sea was filled with tension.

A tall Maiden in copper scale armor held a greatsword as pale as milky white glass, glaring fiercely at the captain who had collapsed on the ground opposite her.

The Maiden was not old, with long, light golden hair simply draped behind her head. Her bright violet eyes seemed to glow under the sunlight. Behind her was a Maiden in tight clothing and a young boy holding a wooden stick. There were still ligature marks on the boy's body.

"Lady, let's talk properly, let's talk properly." The captain looked in horror at the two bloody heads that had rolled beside him.

"Why did you increase the agreed-upon fare midway? Why did you kidnap Alan at night and sneak into Diana's and my room?"

The female Warrior stepped on the captain's crotch, startling him.

"Lady, let's talk properly. This was just an accident. I am willing to compensate you and these two for the fare. See if it's possible..."

"Shut up, I only want one reason."

Diana Tarly, behind the female Warrior, sighed deeply in her heart. What a jest of the gods, that House Tarly of Horn Hill and House Dayne of Starfall were standing on the same side. One should know that historically, the neighboring House Tarly and House Dayne had a relationship where they fought each other like dogs.

However, House Dayne was different from those truly shameless Dornish Lords in the eastern Marches. Although they often clashed in many historical wars, fighting for their respective Lords, the conflicts basically remained on the battlefield. In times of peace, the two houses had also had experiences of hunting and jousting together.

However, being protected by a woman from House Dayne like this was truly unheard of.

"Enough nonsense, give me the money, and you stay. You are not allowed to leave our sight until we reach Pentos."

"Okay, okay, okay." The captain was about to cry. "Lady, can you please take the sword and your foot off?"

"Shut up!"

"Captain, something's wrong." A sailor rushed into the cabin in a panic, then stumbled and almost fell, frightened by the scene inside the cabin.

"Speak quickly if you have something to say!" the female Warrior glared at the sailor.

"Yes, yes..." Before the sailor could finish speaking, the cabin door was pushed open by soldiers wearing light leather armor and holding spears.

"Varezes Fleet. We suspect you are a Triarchy pirate ship." The soldier scanned the cabin with a blank expression. "We need to verify your identities."

"Lady Obara Dayne." The female Warrior loudly stated her name.

"I am the true bearer of Dawn."
