Chapter 36 - Scars

"Come with me, now," he growled at her.

Luna froze for a second, but he didn't wait. He immediately spun and marched out of the room, and she was left to hurry after him.

When she caught up to him, she opened her mouth to speak, but before even a sound escaped, her turned his head and gave her a sharp look, instantly silencing her.

All that came out was a small whimper, and she was frozen again.

Once she recovered, she raised a hand to cover her mouth and shut it as she hurried after him.

She had never seen him, or anyone, this furious before. Not even her father. But that may have been because he relaxed as soon as he saw her, so even if his rage had been built to such a peak, her presence could hollow out that peak with just one look.

Her father hadn't loved her, not even a little bit.

But he had certainly loved taking out his stress on her.

Luna knew, or rather, guessed, that Lukas had seen that or something like it when she had connected to him the night before, but she wasn't sure if he had seen the extent of it.

He had seen her naked, but he had always been distracted from the full view.

What if he asked...

"Strip."

The cold word cut through her worry like a knife through her ribs.

This was exactly what she had feared. He may have seen something, but he wanted to see it all.

She looked up at him, whimpering softly as she tried to get some sort of protest to pass her lips. They had stopped a little bit ago, her feet pausing immediately as soon as his did, with no direction from her. They were standing in a small room with a padded circular carpet as the only furniture. In the end, all she could manage was a stuttering, "Lukas..." before a sharp bark tore from his throat.

Luna jerked. She hadn't heard a person make that sound before. It was too animalistic, too primal. She couldn't reason with him anymore. Her choices had been stripped away, and now she could do nothing but obey.

"Strip, now," he repeated, his tone still rough and cold. All of the warmth that he had used to show her was swallowed up in a deep-seated, frozen fury that filled his entire being. She could feel it in her stomach, as though his mind was inside her, shifting like a roiling mass of dark shadow that hated, hated, hated.

"Yes, Master," was the only reply she was left with as she removed the nightrobe. Beneath it, she was still completely naked.

His eyes immediately locked onto her stomach, and a low growl rose in the back of his throat, rumbling through the air and through Luna's body. If she wasn't terrified out of her wits, she would've been incredibly aroused by it.

She had dipped her eyes when she had submitted to his command, but she didn't want to look. She didn't want to, but she had to.

There, over her abdomen, was enough of a mess of scars to make anyone shudder with pity.

Lukas had already been practically frothing at the mouth, but now, if it was possible, he was even more furious.

"Who the hell did this to you?" he growled. That seemed to now be his permanent tone of voice. In fact, instead of getting better, it got worse. More strained and rougher with every moment.

"My father," she said softly. His eyes darted up towards her face. She was afraid to look, again.

But she did.

She kept her eyes carefully submissive, but once she saw the look in his, her heart broke.

There was no question in her mind now about whether he had had experience with love before. She was his first, and his only. And she was damaged. No, not just that, she was completely broken.

Pity welled up in her, enough to put tears in her eyes. His wolf howled mournfully inside her, and although she tried to hold back, she couldn't help it.

Luna rushed forward and wrapped her arms around him, sobbing quietly into his chest. She couldn't bear to look at those eyes anymore.

There was no accusation, but that just made it much worse. He didn't blame her; he blamed himself.
