-Chapter 6-
-10 days later-
-POV Calvin Jasper-
'Die, damn it,' I thought as I slammed my metal baseball bat into the skull of a zombie.
[+1 Health Point]
"Finally," I sighed as I heard the notification from the Evolution Prism.
It was the last zombie I needed for my Strength stat to reach 100 units.
I had a bit of trouble understanding what that might represent, but after some questioning, I estimated that 100 Strength units equaled 500 kilos of lifting force.
Eager to finally enjoy such colossal power, I quickly added the last point I needed to reach that goal.

In 10 days, I had taken the time to go on a few small outings outside to continue the preparations I'd started for the coming days, or even months.
Although some of these trips had been downright scary, I hadn't felt the need to give up.
I was perfectly aware of the risks.
I knew full well that if I didn't quickly adapt to this new world, its rules, and its way of life, I wouldn't last long and would likely end up six feet under before I knew it.
So, I hardened my heart and toughened up.
I tried to farm as much as possible so I'd never remain passive, just waiting for trouble to hit us.
In 4 trips outside the safety perimeter the soldiers had established upon arrival, I managed to kill nearly 200 zombies.
Considering I earned one health point for each zombie killed, it might sound like a lot, but I only killed those moving in groups of fewer than 5 at first, before moving on to groups of fewer than 10.
In L.A., hordes were never in short supply, not to mention all the abandoned homes with people trapped inside, or idiots who'd locked themselves in with people who had been bitten—forcing me to choose my targets carefully: the young, the old, the disabled… anything that was the least resistant.
Thanks to this hunt, I managed to accomplish three things that made my task much easier afterward.
First, I unlocked the ATTRIBUTE function in the Evolution Prism interface by spending about a hundred points.
Then, I unlocked and raised the Strength attribute to 100, which I estimated to be a human limit.
'Even if I was fit before, I didn't have any real strength. But after all these trips, I've become a real wild beast,' I thought as I looked at my body, which was slowly changing, gradually adapting to my new power.
I didn't know exactly what was happening inside my body, but every time I assigned a new point to Strength, all my muscles, tendons, joints, and even bones would start to heat up slightly.
It wasn't painful, not even unpleasant—it was just strange.
I exhaled in relief, feeling that sensation once again, before storing my baseball bat in the basic inventory the system had given me—an inventory I could expand with attribute points, the cost being 10 health points for one cubic meter.
'Alright, time to head back,' I thought as I started on my way back to Nick's house.
