Chapter 64 - The Truth They Were Never Meant to Know

The wind didn't stop.

It circled around them like something alive.

Mira was still holding onto him.

Not because she was scared—

But because she needed something real.

Her heartbeat was slowly calming.

But her mind—

Was not.

"I saw everything…" she whispered.

He nodded.

"So did I."

That answer didn't bring comfort.

It made things heavier.

Because now—

There was no doubt.

They hadn't imagined it.

They had lived it.

Before.

Mira slowly stepped back.

Her eyes searching his.

"That wasn't just a memory, was it?" she asked.

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked around the rooftop.

The same place.

But no longer the same.

Then he said quietly—

"It felt like… something we've done more than once."

Mira's chest tightened.

"More than once…"

She looked down at her hands.

Still slightly trembling.

"How many times…" she whispered.

Her voice almost breaking.

"How many times have we met like this?"

The question hung in the air.

Heavy.

Unanswered.

But something inside both of them knew—

This wasn't the first.

And maybe…

Not even the second.

Mira walked slowly toward the bench.

The same place where everything had shifted.

Where they had seen themselves.

Where time had broken.

She touched the edge of it.

Cold.

Real.

But still—

It felt connected to something else.

"Why does this keep happening?" she asked softly.

He walked closer.

Stopping just beside her.

"I think…" he started.

Then paused.

As if he wasn't sure if he should say it.

"Say it," Mira said.

Her voice steadier now.

Because she needed answers.

Even if they scared her.

He took a slow breath.

Then said—

"I think we're stuck in something."

Mira frowned.

"Stuck?"

He nodded.

"A loop."

Her heart skipped.

A loop.

The word felt wrong.

But at the same time—

It explained everything.

"The café…"

"The note…"

"The rooftop…"

"The dreams…"

"All of it keeps repeating," he continued.

Mira shook her head slightly.

"But why us?"

Silence.

Because that was the one question neither of them could answer.

Then suddenly—

The wind stopped.

Completely.

The rooftop fell into a deep, unnatural silence.

Mira's breath caught.

"Did you feel that?" she whispered.

He nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Something had changed.

The air felt… still.

Too still.

As if the world itself was holding its breath.

Mira's eyes moved around the rooftop again.

And then—

She saw it.

A shadow.

Standing near the edge.

Her heart stopped.

"There…" she whispered.

He turned quickly.

His expression shifting instantly.

Because he saw it too.

A figure.

Not clear.

Not fully visible.

But definitely there.

Watching them.

Mira's voice trembled.

"Is that… us again?"

He didn't answer.

Because something felt different.

This wasn't like before.

This didn't feel like a memory.

It felt present.

Alive.

The shadow moved slightly.

And for a moment—

The shape became clearer.

Mira's breath caught.

Because it wasn't them.

Not exactly.

It looked like them.

But… older.

Or maybe—

More aware.

Her heart began racing again.

"Who is that?" she whispered.

The figure didn't move closer.

But its presence grew stronger.

He stepped slightly in front of Mira.

Protective.

Even though he didn't understand what he was protecting her from.

Then—

The figure spoke.

Its voice soft.

But echoing.

"Finally…"

Mira froze.

Because the voice—

It sounded like both of them.

At the same time.

Her hands trembled.

"W-what is this?" she whispered.

The figure took a step forward.

Still not fully visible.

But clearer than before.

"You weren't supposed to remember this soon."

Mira's heart dropped.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

No answer.

Instead—

The figure continued.

"This cycle was meant to continue longer."

Cycle.

Loop.

The words connected instantly.

Mira's chest tightened.

"Cycle of what?" she asked.

The figure paused.

Then said something that made everything stop.

"Of meeting… forgetting… and finding each other again."

Mira's breath caught.

Her eyes filled with disbelief.

Because that meant—

This wasn't random.

This wasn't fate alone.

This was something structured.

Something designed.

Her voice trembled.

"Who are you?"

The figure didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

It looked at both of them.

Then said softly—

"We are what you become… when you finally remember everything."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unreal.

Mira felt like the ground beneath her was disappearing again.

Because that meant—

This wasn't just about the past.

This was about the future too.

Her future.

Their future.

Her voice barely came out.

"Then… what happens now?"

The figure didn't move.

But its presence felt closer.

Stronger.

Then it said—

"This time… the ending might change."

Mira's heart stopped.

Ending?

"What ending?" she whispered.

The figure slowly began to fade.

But before disappearing—

It said one last thing.

"Only one of you remembers at the end."

And then—

It was gone.

The rooftop returned to normal.

The wind came back.

The silence broke.

Mira stood frozen.

Her mind unable to process what she had just heard.

She slowly turned to him.

Her voice shaking.

"Did you hear that?"

He nodded.

His expression serious.

"Yes."

Mira's heart pounded.

"Only one of us remembers…" she whispered.

Her chest tightened painfully.

"Which one?"

He didn't answer.

Because neither of them knew.

And somehow—

That was the most terrifying part.
