Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: The Arrival of Uchiha Mori

Isamu strolled over to the Great Elder's house. Pushing open the door, he saw a man in his thirties sitting at a table in the courtyard, drinking tea while talking to the Great Elder.

"Oh, Isamu, you're here. Come, sit down. I went to look for you during this time but found you weren't home. Where have you been?" Seeing that it was Isamu who pushed open the door, the Great Elder immediately greeted him and invited him to sit.

After sitting down, Isamu finally saw the person talking to the Great Elder clearly. "Isn't this our Clan Head Mori? What brings you here today with so much free time? Isn't the work at the Guard Division busy?" Isamu said to Uchiha Mori, his tone neither cold nor warm.

That's right, this person was the current head of the Uchiha Clan, Uchiha Mori, who was also the son of Uchiha Seiyou.

"Isamu, don't always wear that expression. I'm just here to chat with you both today," Uchiha Mori said with a friendly face.

"Oh, just chatting? Is that how it is, Great Elder?" Isamu looked at the Great Elder beside him.

"Uh... this... this..." The Great Elder sat there, stammering, not knowing how to speak.

"It doesn't look like just a simple chat. To be honest, I don't want to know about your affairs over there, and I don't want to get involved. If you're here for idle chatter, you're welcome, but if it's about anything else, there's no need to say it." Isamu picked up the tea on the table and started to drink it slowly.

"This..." Seeing that Isamu's attitude was so firm, Uchiha Mori cast a pleading look at the Great Elder. He knew that the Great Elder's words still had some influence on Isamu; otherwise, he wouldn't have come to find the Great Elder first.

"Young Clan Head, why don't you listen to what he has to say?" the Great Elder said while pouring tea for Isamu. The Great Elder was old, and he still wanted to help out with Uchiha affairs whenever he could.

"I've already told you not to call me 'Young Clan Head.' Just call me by my name. Besides, I told you a long time ago that whatever they want to do has nothing to do with us."

"What, do you still want to mess around with them, or do you want to move back?" Isamu was furious at what the Great Elder said. I went through so much trouble to draw a line between myself and this bunch of short-lived ghosts, and I even sold them out to Danzo. Now you want me to help them? That's just making me a sucker; this is absolutely out of the question.

"No, no, no, that's not what I meant. I'm saying you can listen to what Mori has to say before making a decision. I don't want to move back." Seeing that Isamu was a bit angry, the Great Elder hurriedly stood up and began to explain.

"Alright, alright, sit down quickly. You're old enough, yet you're still so impulsive. I'll give you some face and listen to what he has to say." Looking at the agitated Great Elder, Isamu decided to humor him.

"Speak then. What is your purpose for coming here today?" Isamu then turned his gaze toward Uchiha Mori. He wanted to see what kind of trick Uchiha Mori was up to.

"Uh, I saw that you were recently placed under house arrest in Konoha. I came here today intending to invite you to return to the Uchiha Clan, but looking at you now, that plan has fallen through." Seeing Isamu ask him, Mori stated his original purpose.

"Heh, it's good that you know. Regardless of who suppresses me, frames me, or places me under house arrest, I can kill everyone who bullies me, but I will never betray the Village. This is my bottom line." Isamu revealed his bottom line directly to Uchiha Mori; he was indeed getting annoyed with some of the Village's decisions.

"So, as long as you don't betray the Village, you could even seize the hokage position?" Seeing Isamu say this, Uchiha Mori suddenly interjected.

"The hokage position is within my grasp. What, are you interested in it?" Isamu drank his tea and looked at Uchiha Mori with a strange expression.

"No, no, no, I'm not interested. I was just saying it casually." Seeing Isamu look at him with a strange expression, he immediately shook his head.

"It's good that you're not interested. If you ever have such thoughts, you won't be far from death." Isamu gave Uchiha Mori an appropriate warning—don't have such thoughts, or else just wait to die.

"Since you have no intention of returning to the Uchiha Clan, can I ask you one more thing?" Seeing Isamu give him another jab, it seemed he still cared a little about the Uchiha Clan, so he took the opportunity to make a request directly.

"You can say it, but I won't necessarily agree." Isamu said casually.

"It's not an excessive request. Can you just think of a way to get the Village to stop sending people to monitor us? We won't rebel." Uchiha Mori pleaded with Isamu. Because Uchiha Seiyou's coup failed, he had been under constant surveillance since taking office, and he was truly fed up. This feeling of being monitored every day was just too uncomfortable.

"Isn't this all your old man's doing? Besides, I can barely protect myself right now, so how can I help you?" Isamu waved his hand, indicating he had no way to help.

"As long as you are willing to help, I believe you have a way." Uchiha Mori looked at Isamu with a serious expression.

"Isamu, just help them. After all, you know the feeling of being monitored every day; it's really not pleasant." The Great Elder also pleaded on behalf of Uchiha Mori.

"Alright, I really can't help you with this matter. However, there will be an opportunity in a few years. As long as you can seize it, not to mention the surveillance ending, there might even be a chance to regain Konoha's trust." Thinking of the Second Great Ninja War, Isamu spoke slowly.

"What opportunity?" Hearing that not only could the surveillance be lifted but they could also regain Konoha's trust, Uchiha Mori became interested immediately.

"In a few years, the Ninja World will slowly start to become unstable. At that time, as long as you can contribute actively, I believe the higher-ups of Konoha will be willing to give you a chance." Isamu explained while drinking tea.

"How do you know that the Ninja World will become unstable in a few years?" Uchiha Mori looked at Isamu with a puzzled expression, and the Great Elder chimed in, "Yes, how do you know?"

"Hmph, isn't that a very normal thing? Without figures capable of suppressing the Ninja World, it's only a matter of time before the Ninja World descends into chaos. You don't even need to think to know these things. You just need to seize the opportunity when the time comes." Facing the doubts of the two, Isamu casually found an excuse and brushed it off.

"That's true, it seems that way. Alright, I'll endure for a few more years then." Uchiha Mori gritted his teeth and decided to endure for a while longer.

Afterward, the group chatted for a while longer, and Uchiha Mori left the Great Elder's house, claiming he still had matters to attend to.

Watching Uchiha Mori leave, the Great Elder spoke up, "Isamu, will the Ninja World really descend into chaos again in a few years?" Thinking about the Ninja World becoming chaotic, he secretly worried for the Clan Members.

"Yes, it will be chaotic. But you don't need to worry. With me here, our Martial Faction Clan Members will be fine. You don't trust my strength?" Isamu gave the Great Elder some reassurance.
