Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Odyssey Begins

At night, 5th October, 2125. The clouds were covering the night sky, blocking any light that might reach earth. And of this circumstance there was darkness, and... A horrifying sense of dread. Precipitation followed suit. Each drop of rain hammering the ground at staggering speeds.

WHOOSH!!! WHOOSH!!!!

The gusts of wind blew with such intensity, trees would not survive. It was relentless, no hero could remsin standing.

As far as a man could see, the land remained barren beneath the storm. In the tempest, there was humanoid silhouette spotted in the distance, walking. Having a black coat, and a backpack. We have yet to identify her destination.

"Where is it!!" The figure spoke, the rain muffled her voice, almost being drowned out by it. Her steps heavy, her clothes soaked. She continued walking.

THUNDER!!!

The rain had dropped even heavier reducing vision to nothing but noise. Then a light, faint as it is, refracted through the rain and was caught by the eye,"Is that it?"

Every step she make brings her closer to it. The wind pushed her back but she resisted, she stepped on a puddle of water could not stop her body from slamming into the ground.

"Ouch" she used both her arms and pushed herself back up and continued walking. The rain washed off the mud. She was terribly soaked, but she persevered.

" Almost there," She continued to shield herself from the wrath of the rain. But as she was walking, she began to see the location of the light source. It was a wall, one so expansive that in this current state of weather, cannot be fully revealed.

"Was that what 'he' was talking about," Each of her steps shortened the distance between her and that wall.

Each stride made the structure more and more visible. "This might be it,"

The massive structure, made of pure metal. It's walls seemed to streach for miles and miles without end.

" Why is this wall so massive," She questioned herself not expecting any answer. When she saw the two guards stationed there, she walked slowly towards them.

She stopped in front of them. They blocked the gate that's leads into the massive wall with their weapons, crossing each other.

"State your purpose for being here." One guard said, voice firm.

"Do you know Yamato and Mikamo Atsuki" The mysterious figure asked

"Mr and Mrs Atsuki?.... What is your relationship with them."

"Their my parents"…

The guard retracted his spear and looked at me straight. The other guard did the same and he proceeded to go back to his station.

THUNDER!!!

The sound of the rain, the crackling of lightning in the sky. The only sounds heard were those of the tempest and all others were where drowned in it's sound.

The guard finally spoke,"Follow me."

She followed the guard to the scanning area right after the gate. There was another gate Infront of that one.

The guard dropped to my height,"I have no idea there Mr and Miss Atsuki are at the moment."

"Then I'll keep searching." She turned around without a moments hesitation. And just before she entered the the tempest beyond the gates.

" You could ask the Defense Force's director and the head scientist in the Pharmaceuticals division. They might know a thing or two." The guard suggested. " Let's go then." She replied.

"Hold up," he said gently. " We need to make sure your not infected,"

Another soldier approached with a small handheld scanner. Its faint blue light flickered as it powered on.

She instinctively stiffened.

"Don't worry, it's safe."

She lowered her eyes slightly as the scanner hummed softly as it passed over her arms and shoulders. He had repeated this motion a few more times. "! ERROR! Unable to identify infection status." The machine warned finding it difficult to identify.

" Hey!" He waved at the guard outside. " Did you take scanner for maintainance!"

" I don't know." He looks at the guard standing next to her.

"Ask the ones who where on duty yesterday." The guard outside shrugged it off and walked back to his post.

"I'll just get another scanner." The guard with the machine began walking in the corridors of the walls. He stopped and turned to me" Wait for me, kay." He then proceeded to go find a scanner.

She looked for the nearest place to sit while waiting for him. "This might take longer than I thought" she muttered to herself.

While she was waiting she got what little food she had left from her backpack and ate it. The guard outside looked at me with sympathetic eyes.

"Want food while you wait?" The guard slowly walked in and dried his hands before reaching a rectangular device.

She nodded her head,"uhh ahh"

" What do you want?" He had pressed his finger on the search icon of the device, "Anything really." She replied.

He used the search function to find pizza and pressed his finger on the order button. "Do you eat pizza?"

" I haven't eaten pizza before."

THUNDER!

The precipitation hadn't stopped. The drops of rain could be heard smashing into the metal of the wall and onto the ground.

The guard looked at her, mouth slightly opened, eyes widened. Then he returned to his usual expression. "I'm a bit shocked you haven't eaten pizza before."

"Don't worry though. I'll make sure your first bite of pizza will be one not to forget." He smiled slightly while giving a thumbs up. By the way, names Ren. What's yours."

" Reimori," the rain got heavier and her voice was temporarily muffled.

" Can you repeat. I didn't get you." The guard closed the gate.

"It's Reimori" Reimori repeated herself

"That's a unique name you've got." Ren smiled when he heard the name.

Shortly after that footsteps coulf be heard in the distance, " Pizza for... Ren"

" Finally, the pizza's here." Ren walked to the man holding a large box of pizza. He placed his hand under the box and lifted it. He then walked back to Reimori.

After they finished the last slice of pizza, the area fell silent. The drops of rain got lighter but could still be heard inside the structure.

"That was the best box of pizza I have ever tasted." Ren say down and placed his hand on his tummy and started rubbing it. Then Ren saw a foot moving and asked " Found a scanner."

"Yeah. Luckily the guards in western gate had a spare." He used the scanner again.

"Error. Unable to identify. Error." The screen flashed green despite the error message.

" Why doesn't this surprise me." He narrowed his eyes and relaxed his face muscles when he say the results.

He then faced Reimori "Anyway. Let's go. I'm not looking for another scanner again."

Reimori slowly followed behind him, not showing any signs of emotion. Ren placed his hand on his shoulder , "Callus, better not skip guard duty. Kay?" Ren smiled slightly while waiting for his response

"I won't" Callus smiled slightly before turning to the other gate. When the gate opened a seemingly empty hallway tood before them it was wide enough to allow vehicles to pass. But where it led, unknown.

The foot steps of the 2 individuals in the corridors could be heard, with each footstep making a clanking sound as it collided with the ground.

THUNDER!

The rain drops, even muffled could still be heard in this hallway. "Where are we?" Reimori looked around the hallway. Then her had came in contact with the walls. The walls average kinetic energy, temperature, was low. Even through his armour, the cold breached through.

" This is a hallway to the ADF. And before you ask, it means Aegis Defense Force." Callus s. " That's reminds me. You didn't tell me your name."

" It's Reimori." She replied in a low voice.

" Never heard it before. Do you know it's means." He looked back at me, maintaining his velocity forward.

" Unfortunately... No" Reimori replied

" Figures,"He turns around and continues walking. Callus' body shakes slightly then the intensity slowly minimized, "Aren't you cold."

"Not really," she touched her hand then let it go.

"How long have you been walking in the rain." Callus' eye brows lower slightly, and his eyes narrowed slightly.

" Please stop asking me such questions." Reimori replied

While they where walking they saw the end of the corridor and there there was another gate. " Don't worry, it won't take long." Callus' hand made contact with some sort of control panel on the left side of the gate.

" Individual identified, Callus, leader of Aegis Oradyn Combat Division team 1" The gate began opening slowly revealing a big space with a variety of vehicles parked there. The room was well lit, with the reflections of the other vehicles appearing on the metal.

" Let's go." Callus extends his hand. "Okay" Reimori grabbed his hand and the proceeded to the elevator door.

Callus pushed a button, that I couldn't clearly see and the display on top of the elevator was changing every few seconds. Eventually the elevator reached the bottom and the door opened. They took a step inside. The automatic self closing door of the closed behind them.

Callus the pushed the button with the text '1' written on it. When the elevator stopped we entered the room then walked to a counter with a sign on top reading 'Reception'.

The woman stationed there, was on her phone " Do you want something, Callus," she popped a bubble of gum.

Callus turns slightly to the left, scratching he head with one arm "Well I need to see the director and..." Before he could finish that receptionist interrupted him,"He's busy now get out,"

"it's important. it's about Mr. Atsuki's daughter" the receptionist eyes widen slightly for a fraction of a second.

"You must be joking right," she laughs jokingly.

"Mei. Why would I joke about something that important." Callus' eyes glared into her's.

" I'll call him." Mei replies.

RING SOUNDS!!

CALL CUTS!.

" Answer the phone already." She seems annoyed. She calls again and this time someone answered.

"'Hello,"' the director speaks through the phone

"Be quicker. What if this was important. Anyway. A child who seems to have connections to Mr. Atsuki has asked if he could see... "

"'Bring him over,"'

"Sir, it's a girl"

"'Bring her over,'"

" To have permission. Now leave." Mei points to the elevator we came from

They walked to the elevator. Callus pressed the button with a down arrow. " I hope you find them." He smiled.

The precipitation hadn't stopped. The drops of rain hit the windows, producing sound. There was was lightning. The beams of light it had produced bounced all over the room. And for a moment the entire area was illuminated by it's light.

The elevator door slowly opened, only to reveal a person in there whose body was covered in a blood red liquid. He had a katana attached to the side of his waist. The man slowly exited the elevator, he faced towards Reimori lthen Callus.

" Never expected you to be here. And who's that girl with you." His voice was hollow. The eyes attached to his body were no exception.

" Aren't you supposed to be doing something. " Callus body tensed up. His eyes met his.

His empty laugh echoed through the room, " I see you still don't like me after what I did to 'her'."

Callus hand formed a fist, "Reimori..." Callus faced Reimori," Let's go." They stepped into the elevator and gave the man one last glare. Before the autovl closing doors shut. Callus pressed the button on the panel labled '28'.

"Who is he? And why is he covered in blood." Reimori looked at Callus.

The humming sound made with occasional numb had filled the room. And for a moment nothing was happening. Reimori touched the elevator wall. The thermal energy in the walls is low. She looks around, waitingbforntge door to open.

Callus on the other hand, had been standing there, not moving for the past few seconds.

Then a slowing motion could be felt in the elevator. And when the elevator completely stopped the doors opened. They took their first step outside the elevator. The air was sterile. The corridor was claustrophobic, having little space to move.

He begun walkin through the hallway and Reimori followed closely behind. As they where walking the lights slowly flicker on and off as they passed through. Each step they made reverbarated evenly through the corridor. Their velocity was low and the end of the corridor could not be seen. Th flickering light gave a feeling of dread.

After a while the end of the corridor was in sight and at the end there was a door, labeled ' DIRECTOR. They moved slowly to the end of the corridor before stopping at his door.

"I cannot walk any further than this. Youneed to ask him yourself." Callus stood there, his expression unreadable.

"I will." Reimori

SILENCE...

time harder. "Come in" a voice inside the room could be heard she opened the door. And slowly walked into the room.
