Adder muttered, "Subclass."
[Subclass: Desolate Jailer

-> Cursed Manifestation (Active): Conditional.

]
Adder read through the subclass description a couple of times. He could not believe how plain everything was.
He scratched his head. There was no mention of other prison cells, nor anything about the origin or purpose of the prison.
There was not even a hint about how he could open other cell doors.
It hit him that if he removed the activation condition and prison description, this looked almost identical to the original four-ace subclasses.
It had the same structure of one active skill and one passive.
Not losing hope, he tapped on the Vile Mark.
[Vile Mark Acquired:
Crimson Vile. ]
'Shit, there was no mention of how to gain more vile marks.'
[Vile Mark: Crimson Vile
Description: An ancient, cursed entity that thrives on blood to sustain itself.
-> Manifestation Condition: Requires a fresh blood drop from a non-caster target to initiate manifestation.
-> Manifestation Effect: Allows the caster to use blood to summon the flesh parasite.
-> Manifestation Time: 30 seconds.
-> Cursed Manifestation Cooldown: 2 minutes.
(Warning: Manifested Crimson Vile requires blood. Failure to meet the requirement will turn the Crimson Vile against the host, triggering backlash.)
]
Once again, reading through the Crimson Vile left him with more questions. Unexpectedly, there was no description of what the flesh parasite did.
Adder took a deep breath. He controlled himself not to smile. From his past life, he knew the more hidden a class, the higher its potential.
These mysteries only excited him. After all, he had spent his entire past life messing with the Dungeon Master class.
He waved off the subclass panel as it was finally his turn.
He glanced at the side door before entering the shop counter.
The young witch glanced at him and was about to throw the knife when Adder asked, "I am here to collect the special reward."
The young witch froze mid-motion. He saw her scanning him up and down as she rushed to the door behind the counter while shouting, "Wait."
After a minute of waiting, she finally came back with a glass box with a skin cover.
Adder glanced at the opened door at the back. A couple of young witches stared at him from there, but none took any action.
The first witch placed a couple of items before him until finally she handed him the book while shaking.
"Here, warrior."
The moment he touched the book, multiple notifications popped up in front of him.
Ding!
[Congratulations, Player Adder, you have finished the witch's special request.]
[Calculating surviving players: 5]
Adder raised his eyebrow. It looked like the devil spawn had killed a couple more players.
[Redistributing the reward.
You have gained 2 silver, 2 rituals for low curses, and 2 rituals for creating guild books.]
[High contribution detected. You have gained a special reward: 'The Rule of Witchcraft.']
The very moment Adder swiped all the items into his inventory, the young witch just stared at the space where the book had been, then back at him.
Adder just smiled at her. "Happy to work with you."
He was about to turn when the young witch shouted, "Warrior, we have more tasks for you."
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have succeeded in triggering Chain Quest 5. Do you want to proceed?]
Adder paused for a bit. It was a good chance to gain more rewards, but then he shook his head. "Sorry, I have to refuse."
The young witch tried to say something else, but he just walked away. It was not that he could not understand her.
After all, 'The Rule of Witchcraft' would allow any of those young witches to progress further in their witchcraft.
He could sell them the book. It's just that the value of gaining a unique class far surpassed any monetary reward.
He looked at the afternoon sky. With all the ups and downs, he had managed to achieve both his objectives.
He got an interesting subclass as well as an item sufficient to bring even the best city guilds to the negotiating table.
Adder took a deep breath.
"It's just the start," he muttered as he walked out of the witch's shop.
He did not even reach the end of the alley when a girl in a blue robe waved at him. "Hello."
Adder paused. It took him a second to recognize her as one of the ten who had taken the special quest.
'So some were really hiding. But why didn't they attack before?' Confused, he still acted ignorant. "What do you want, miss?"
The girl smiled at him. "No need to act. You do know that I also got an interesting notification just a moment ago."
As she said that, a couple of other guys moved out from the queue to surround him.
Adder shrugged his shoulders. It's not like he could do anything about the notification.
And also, with the book in his inventory, he was unbothered. After all, killing a player in a city would not drop any loot.
He dropped his act and bluntly asked, "What's your offer?"
A burly man standing beside him placed his arm around his shoulder. "Offer? Man, do you even know who you are talking to?"
The girl rushed in to defuse the situation. "Ronny, don't."
The guy just stared at him, then at her, before removing his hand.
Adder almost rolled his eyes at the classic bad-guy, good-girl act.
The girl pointed out of the alley. "How about we talk while walking?"
Adder nodded to her, as even he did not want others to gather here.
As the group reached the end of the alley, he noticed a dozen more guys shifting around. While they did not approach him, they were clearly with her.
A clear form of silent intimidation.
The girl suddenly grabbed his arm. "Mister, how about you join my guild?"
