My mind shut down the moment I heard those words, of everything i expected, I really was not expecting that, my mind just went blank all of a sudden, but if you have ever been in the same situation as me, I think you would get what I mean.
I sat there blankly staring at her face. She looked back at me without blinking, then slightly tilted her head. Currently, I was telling myself that this was all a joke, and she would suddenly smile and tell me she was joking, and she did that just to see my reaction, but all of that never happened. She kept a serious face without a trace of a smile on her face, and right ten i knew she was dead serious about her words.
I started to panic. This girlfriend of mine was suddenly calling it quits out of the blue for no apparent reason. It was like the weather forecast announced that tomorrow was going to be sunny and warm, but the next thing you find when you wake up is clouds and rain.
Starting, I barely managed to voice out with a shaky voice, "At least could you tell me why?" Hearing my question, she did not look surprised at all, and judging by her reaction, she seemed like she expected it even. But instead of a response, all I got was her silence, but in that silence, her eyes had briefly moved to another table that was not too far from us, but what she did not expect was for me to catch her eye movement.
I slowly looked in the direction she looked just a moment ago, and seeing me look in another direction, she was quite surprised as she did not expect me to catch the brief second she looked over.
When my eyes settled on the table she looked at, there sat a handsome man wearing all white, apparently looking like a saint as she slowly sipped his milkshake, clearly he looked like he was waiting for someone, and right then I instantly knew what was happening.
I went quiet for a few seconds, at the moment she expected me to completely lose it and make a huge scene, but then I went against her expectations, I was calmly, frieteningly calm to the point where even she was getting wary
I slowly said my piece, "to be honest i already knew", hearing that her expression chaged to one of pure shock, i gigled in a low tone thatonly she could hear, with a soft smile i continued, "yes, since the begining i already knew but i just played along for the sake of it, i only continued this relationship for the fun of it, and reaching this point i think it was all worth it", i gently lifted my right hand, extended my pinkie finger and slowly started to clean my ear, as i genlty continued, "honestly i was also getting bored and if you didnt end it i would have, but thanks for saving me the trouble of the mellodrama, and since we reached this point i think its time i leave", and all this time i ha an indifrent expression like nothing could have phased me.
I did not look back even once, I quietly walked out, got into my car, and drove to god knows where.
Back at the coffee shop, Evelyn had a stunned expression on her face that did not dissapear even after i left, she could not process the inormation that i knew she had cheated but was indifrent to it and even let it continue, she was left speachless by my actions, and she suddenly did not now what to do.
Meanwhile, I, on the other hand, during my drive on the highway decided to head back home, but to my suprise when i tried to turn the wheel it did not move an ich, it looked like it was suddenly glued into place, but what shocked me more was the fact that it turned on its own aas if the car had self conciousness.
I let go of the wheel, but surprisingly I was not panicking, and this left me not knowing how to feel about it. It was something that was controlling my emotions, and clearly, there was.
Upon reaching the destination, the car stopped and automatically opened the door. I got out and looked at the scenery before me. Apparently, I was on a beach, and the sun was about to set. I instinctively turned my head right, and there I saw a woman who clearly did not belong to this world.
Out of my control, my eyes turned red, and on their own, my mouth uttered "mom," and despite the distance, the lady clearly heard me and turned to face me. She smiled and replied, "I'm back".
