Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 - The Child of a New Second

The café didn't feel normal anymore.

Same people.

Same conversations.

Same quiet background noise.

But now—

Everything felt fragile.

Like reality was pretending to be stable.

Ethan stood across from Aria.

"…You said you're the second I created."

Aria nodded.

"Yes."

Liya frowned.

"That doesn't explain anything."

Mira leaned back.

"Yeah, kid."

"Break it down in human language."

Aria sighed softly.

"Okay."

She pointed at the clock on the wall.

"Time used to move in a straight line."

"Past → Present → Future."

The chronal officer nodded.

"Standard temporal flow."

Aria continued.

"But when Ethan rewrote the timeline…"

"…he didn't just fix events."

"He changed how time works."

Ethan felt that same quiet ticking in his head again.

"…Go on."

Aria stepped closer.

"Before, every second was connected."

"Locked into one continuous chain."

"But now…"

She smiled slightly.

"Each second can exist on its own."

Silence.

Mira blinked.

"…That sounds illegal."

The officer whispered,

"…Decoupled temporal units."

Liya looked confused.

"…Meaning?"

Ethan answered slowly.

"…Time isn't one line anymore."

"It's… pieces."

Aria nodded.

"Yes."

"Independent moments."

"That can change without breaking everything else."

Mira whistled.

"Okay."

"That's actually kind of genius."

The officer, however, looked worried.

"…And extremely dangerous."

Ethan frowned.

"Why?"

"Because if seconds aren't connected…"

"…then cause and effect can break."

Liya's eyes widened.

"…Things could happen without a reason."

Aria nodded.

"Exactly."

The café lights flickered again.

This time longer.

A few customers looked up.

Confused.

Then everything returned to normal.

Mira sighed.

"Yeah."

"We're definitely not done here."

Ethan looked at Aria.

"So what are you exactly?"

She thought for a moment.

"…I'm a free second."

"A moment that exists outside the normal flow of time."

The officer's device beeped again.

She looked down.

A new classification appeared.

ENTITY TYPE: TEMPORAL SINGULARITY (MICRO)

Her voice dropped.

"…She's a living time fragment."

Liya whispered,

"…A person made of a second."

Aria smiled.

"Yes."

"And there are more."

Silence.

Mira sat up straight.

"…How many more?"

Aria looked out the café window.

"…I don't know."

"But they're starting to appear."

Ethan felt a chill run through him.

"…Because of me."

Aria nodded.

"You didn't just save the world."

"You changed the rules of existence."

The chronal officer paced slightly.

"This is destabilizing."

"Independent temporal entities could interfere with reality."

Mira crossed her arms.

"Translation — things are about to get messy."

Liya looked at Aria again.

"…Why did you come to us?"

Aria's expression changed slightly.

More serious now.

"Because something is hunting us."

Ethan's eyes narrowed.

"…The Guardian?"

"No."

Everyone froze.

Mira whispered,

"…Then what?"

Aria's voice dropped.

"The Guardian protects the timeline."

"But there are things older than it."

The officer stopped pacing.

Her face went pale.

"…That's not possible."

Aria looked at her.

"They don't belong to this version of time."

"They existed before the rules changed."

Ethan felt the ticking in his head grow louder.

"…And now they're back."

Aria nodded.

"Yes."

The café door suddenly chimed again.

But this time—

No one had touched it.

It slowly opened on its own.

A cold breeze moved through the room.

Every clock in the café stopped.

Not just paused.

Dead still.

The officer's device shut off completely.

Mira whispered,

"…Okay."

"That's new-level creepy."

Ethan turned toward the door.

"…Something's here."

Aria stepped back slightly.

"…It found us."

A shadow stretched across the café floor.

But there was no one standing outside.

No figure.

No shape.

Just darkness.

Moving.

Slowly.

Against the light.

Liya grabbed Ethan's hand.

"…What is that?"

Aria answered quietly.

"…A time eater."

Silence.

Mira blinked.

"…A what now?"

Aria didn't look away from the shadow.

"It consumes unstable time."

"Broken seconds."

"Things like me."

Ethan stepped forward slightly.

"…And me."

The shadow moved closer.

The air around it distorted.

Like reality itself was being erased piece by piece.

The officer whispered,

"…I've only read about these."

"They're not supposed to exist."

Mira cracked her knuckles.

"Cool."

"So we're fighting cosmic horror now."

The shadow reached the edge of the table.

The temperature dropped instantly.

Frost forming on the glass.

Aria grabbed Ethan's sleeve.

"…You have to stop it."

He looked at her.

"How?"

Her answer was simple.

"You created new time."

"…Now you have to protect it."

The shadow rose slightly—

Forming into something almost human.

But not quite.

Its voice echoed like broken seconds overlapping.

"Temporal irregularity detected."

Ethan stepped forward.

The faint blue glow returned to his hands.

"…Guess I'm back on the job."

Mira smirked.

"Told you retirement wouldn't last."

Liya stood beside him.

"Not alone."

The shadow moved again.

Closer.

Hungry.

And for the first time in this new timeline—

A new kind of threat had arrived.

Not to reset time.

Not to control it.

But to consume it. ⏳
