Chapter 65 - Chapter 65 - The Man Who Held Time

The hallway lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then everything stabilized again.

The fracture inside the cube stayed frozen.

The building stopped trembling.

Riverside Tower was safe.

But no one was looking at the tower anymore.

They were looking at Ethan.

His hands were glowing faintly.

A soft blue light pulsed under his skin.

Like time itself was flowing through his veins.

Liya grabbed his arms.

"…Ethan."

"Are you okay?"

He blinked a few times.

Slowly.

"…I think so."

But his voice sounded different.

Echoing slightly.

Like it was coming from two moments at once.

Mira stared at him.

Her expression somewhere between shock and fascination.

"…You just did something impossible."

The chronal officer checked her device.

Her screen was filled with errors.

TEMPORAL SIGNATURE OVERFLOW

ANOMALY LEVEL: EXTREME

She whispered,

"…He's absorbing the fracture."

Liya frowned.

"What does that mean?"

Mira answered quietly.

"It means the reset trigger is now inside him."

Silence fell.

Ethan looked at his glowing hands.

"…That sounds bad."

"Very."

The officer tapped rapidly on her device.

More warnings appeared.

TEMPORAL ENERGY HOST DETECTED

Then the system identified the host.

HOST: ETHAN PARK

Liya's voice shook.

"…Can it be removed?"

Mira shook her head slowly.

"Not easily."

Ethan let out a breath.

"Define 'not easily.'"

Mira looked him directly in the eyes.

"You'd need to tear open time itself."

"…Great."

The officer interrupted.

"Wait."

Her device displayed something new.

The stability meter was climbing.

REALITY STABILITY: 92%

Mira noticed it too.

"…That's strange."

Ethan frowned.

"What?"

"The timeline is stabilizing."

The officer nodded.

"The fracture was the reset trigger."

"Now that Ethan absorbed it…"

"…the tower collapse can't happen."

Liya blinked.

"So we actually stopped it?"

"Yes."

Ethan smiled slightly.

"Well that's one problem solved."

But Mira wasn't smiling.

Because her own device suddenly beeped.

She looked down.

Then cursed quietly.

"…Of course."

Ethan looked at her.

"What now?"

Mira turned the screen toward them.

A projection appeared.

It showed Ethan's body surrounded by temporal energy.

The energy was growing.

Slowly.

But steadily.

Liya whispered,

"…What is that?"

Mira answered softly.

"That's the fracture adapting."

Ethan's stomach tightened.

"…Adapting?"

"Yes."

"It doesn't belong inside a human."

"So it's merging with you."

The officer added,

"And turning you into something else."

Liya's grip tightened on Ethan's arm.

"…Something else?"

Mira nodded slowly.

"Something the universe can't reset."

Ethan laughed nervously.

"That sounds like a villain origin story."

No one laughed.

Because the officer's device showed the next warning.

TEMPORAL ENTITY FORMATION DETECTED

Ethan stared at the screen.

"…Entity?"

Mira crossed her arms.

"Yeah."

"You're not just an anomaly anymore."

"You're becoming a chronal core."

Liya whispered,

"What does that mean?"

The officer answered carefully.

"It means Ethan is becoming the center point of the loop."

"The source."

The hallway suddenly flickered again.

For a moment—

Everyone saw something different.

The same hallway.

But older.

Cracked walls.

Broken ceiling.

Dust everywhere.

A ruined future.

Then reality snapped back.

Liya gasped.

"…Another vision."

Mira nodded.

"That's Ethan's energy leaking."

Ethan looked around slowly.

"…I didn't do that."

The officer shook her head.

"You didn't mean to."

"But it's happening."

Her device recalculated the future again.

The probability meter appeared.

TIMELINE OUTCOME

1️⃣ Loop Continues — 64%2️⃣ Timeline Collapse — 21%3️⃣ Stable Future — 9%

Liya noticed something.

"…Wait."

"That's higher."

Ethan looked at the screen.

"…Stable future went from five to nine percent."

Mira nodded.

"Stopping the tower helped."

"But…"

She pointed to the fourth line.

The one that had appeared before.

UNKNOWN OUTCOME — 6%

Ethan frowned.

"That one's growing too."

The officer's voice dropped.

"…Because Ethan is changing the rules."

Liya looked at him.

"…Changing how?"

Mira answered quietly.

"By becoming something time has never seen before."

The blue glow in Ethan's hands pulsed again.

Stronger this time.

A ripple moved through the hallway.

Clocks on the walls suddenly stopped.

Every second hand frozen.

The officer stared at her device.

"…Time just paused."

For three full seconds.

Then everything resumed.

Mira whispered,

"…Yeah."

"Definitely a chronal core."

Ethan looked at his hands again.

"…So what happens to me now?"

No one answered immediately.

Because Mira already knew the truth.

And when she finally spoke—

Her voice was quieter than before.

"…If this continues…"

"…you won't just break time anymore."

Liya's heart pounded.

"…What will he do?"

Mira looked straight at Ethan.

"You'll become time itself." ⏳
