Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 - Three Hours

The room felt colder.

Not physically.

But the kind of cold that creeps into your chest when time suddenly becomes a countdown.

Ethan stared at the tablet.

The aneurysm pulsed on the screen again.

Larger.

Stronger.

Alive in a way it shouldn't be.

The timer on the officer's device continued ticking down.

02:58:11

Liya swallowed slowly.

"…Three hours."

Daniel looked between them.

"Someone please explain what's happening."

No one answered.

Because none of this belonged in a hospital.

This wasn't medicine anymore.

This was time fighting back.

Mira finally spoke.

"The universe just moved the deadline."

Daniel blinked.

"…The universe?"

The officer sighed.

"You don't want the long version."

Ethan handed the tablet back to Daniel.

"Is surgery possible?"

Daniel looked back at the scan.

"…Yes."

"But not immediately."

"How long?"

"We'd need at least six hours to prep."

Liya shook her head.

"We don't have six hours."

Daniel frowned.

"…What do you mean?"

The officer turned her device toward him.

Daniel looked at the screen.

His face slowly drained of color.

"…Two hours fifty-seven minutes?"

"Yes."

"That's when the rupture happens."

Daniel laughed nervously.

"That's impossible."

Mira leaned forward slightly.

"Welcome to the weird part of reality."

Ethan grabbed Liya's hand.

"We need another solution."

Liya nodded.

"There's a procedure."

Everyone looked at her.

"A microcoil embolization."

Daniel nodded quickly.

"Yes."

"That could seal the aneurysm."

"How long?"

"Thirty minutes."

Ethan's eyes lit up.

"That works."

Daniel shook his head.

"No."

"Why not?"

"We still need surgical prep."

"Sterile room."

"Equipment."

"Team."

"At least two hours."

Silence again.

The countdown continued.

02:55:09

Mira crossed her arms.

"There is another option."

Ethan looked at her.

"What?"

"Temporal stabilization."

The officer immediately frowned.

"Absolutely not."

Liya blinked.

"…What does that mean?"

Mira pointed at the scan.

"The aneurysm isn't growing naturally."

"It's being accelerated by timeline pressure."

Ethan nodded slowly.

"So if we stabilize time…"

"…the aneurysm stops growing."

"Exactly."

The officer shook her head.

"That's incredibly dangerous."

"Why?"

"Because stabilizing a human brain with temporal energy…"

"…can create a paradox anchor."

Liya frowned.

"…A what?"

Ethan answered quietly.

"A person tied directly to time."

The officer added,

"And if something goes wrong…"

"…you stop aging."

"…or worse."

Mira shrugged.

"Still better than dying in three hours."

Liya looked at Ethan.

"What do you think?"

He hesitated.

The idea terrified him.

But the timer kept ticking.

02:53:44

"…Do it."

The officer groaned.

"This breaks every rule."

Mira smiled.

"That's kind of our thing."

She pulled a small metallic injector from her jacket.

The officer immediately recognized it.

"…Chronal stabilizer."

"Black market."

"Of course."

Mira stepped closer to Liya.

"Once this goes in…"

"…time slows around the aneurysm."

"Giving us days instead of hours."

Daniel stared at the device.

"…You're injecting time into her brain."

"Basically."

Ethan held Liya's hand tighter.

"…You sure about this?"

She smiled faintly.

"You looped six hundred times for me."

"I can handle one weird injection."

Mira positioned the injector near Liya's neck.

"Alright."

"This might feel strange."

The officer watched the stability meter carefully.

REALITY STABILITY: 78%

Mira pressed the trigger.

A flash of blue light pulsed through the room.

For half a second—

Time bent.

The monitors flickered.

The air vibrated.

Then everything went still again.

Liya blinked.

"…That was it?"

Mira checked the tablet.

The aneurysm scan froze.

No growth.

No movement.

Completely stable.

Daniel stared in disbelief.

"…That's impossible."

The officer checked the countdown timer again.

It stopped.

Then slowly changed.

TIME UNTIL RUPTURE

02:52:10 → 72 HOURS

Ethan let out a long breath.

"…It worked."

Liya smiled weakly.

"So we bought time."

Mira nodded.

"Three days."

"But that's the limit."

The officer's device suddenly beeped again.

A new alert appeared.

TEMPORAL BALANCE SHIFT DETECTED

Ethan frowned.

"…Now what?"

The officer slowly turned the screen toward them.

The tower prediction had updated.

RIVERSIDE TOWER COLLAPSE

NEW TIME: 11:02 AM

Liya's eyes widened.

"…That's in three hours."

Mira sighed.

"The universe traded disasters."

Ethan looked toward the window.

"…It still wants the reset."

The officer nodded grimly.

"If the tower collapses…"

"…the loop restarts."

Liya took a breath.

"Then we stop it."

Ethan smiled slightly.

"Two problems."

"Two solutions."

Mira grabbed her helmet.

"Good."

"I was getting bored."

Outside the hospital—

The skyline looked calm.

Peaceful.

But far in the distance—

Riverside Tower stood tall.

And deep within the structure…

A tiny fracture had just formed in one of its core supports.

The universe was preparing its next move. ⏳
