Liam looked at her for a long moment.
Then he took her hand.
"You need to rest," he said. "And sober up."
Rebecca looked down at his hand on hers with the expression of someone registering a kindness they hadn't expected and weren't sure what to do with.
"My driver brought me," she said. "You don't have to arrange anything."
"Okay." He kept his voice even. "Come on."
He led her out of the office.
The corridor received them with the ordinary mid-morning activity of a floor full of people doing their work—heads down, screens lit, the particular productive hum that Ashford Technologies maintained regardless of what was happening in the corner office. No one looked up with anything more than a passing glance.
