He walked toward her.
Not fast — he didn't move fast, that wasn't how Liam moved. But with the specific purposefulness of someone who had made a decision and was executing it without second-guessing. His expression was serious in a way she hadn't seen before— measured professional composure she'd catalogued over months of watching him. Something underneath all of that. "We need to talk," he said.
Aurora looked at him. At the restaurant behind her. At the empty space where Ray's car had been thirty seconds ago.
"What's there to talk about?" she said. "I told you this was going to happen."
"Aurora—"
"I told you my plan. You had concerns. I heard them. I made my decision." She kept her voice level. "There's nothing left to—"
