Owl was now completely submissive.
He didn't want to be locked up again; having witnessed Leo's power, he couldn't harbor even a thought of resistance.
That kind of power, that killing intent, that overwhelming pressure that robbed one of even the courage to flee—he never wanted to face it a second time in his life.
Dean supported Owl as they left the basement.
Owl's steps were unsteady, needing to catch his breath every few paces, but he gritted his teeth and walked out one step at a time.
Leo watched his receding figure, calculating in his mind.
Owl's ability was "Fun Fun Cloth," which allowed him to conjure a wrapping cloth to bundle up and shrink enemies for capture.
This ability was very useful for capture and defense, but for Leo's current needs, it wasn't particularly significant.
Letting him follow Dean to train newcomers and protect the manor was a good way to put his skills to use.
Leo walked up to the third floor and arrived at Vivian's office.
Two bodyguards stood outside the door; seeing it was Leo, they were about to speak.
Leo waved his hand, and the two bodyguards understood instantly, respectfully withdrawing.
He pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Vivian was sitting at her desk, phone in hand, brow slightly furrowed as she spoke.
Seeing Leo enter, she nodded slightly but didn't hang up immediately.
Leo didn't disturb her, walking straight to the sofa area to sit down, leaning back and closing his eyes to rest.
Vivian kept her voice very low and spoke rapidly.
After a long while, she finally hung up the phone.
"Boss, I'm sorry, I didn't notice your arrival."
Vivian stood up, walked quickly to Leo, and bowed her head slightly.
Leo opened his eyes and waved her off.
"It's fine. Sit down."
Vivian sat on the sofa opposite him, her back perfectly straight and her hands on her knees.
"Have those two guys taken their seats among the Ten Dons?"
Leo asked.
Vivian nodded.
"Yes, both Ethan and Remi have successfully secured those positions. Following your instructions, I didn't interfere with the remaining seven seats, letting the other mafias fight over them."
Leo was satisfied.
"Well done. Occupying three seats in the Ten Dons is enough; there's no need to control them all. It's better to keep a low profile."
Vivian continued.
"For the seven empty seats, several mafia families have already successfully claimed them. The three major mafias that originally only existed within the Kakin Empire—the Xi-Yu Family, the Cha-R Family, and the Heil-Ly Family—have also stepped out to seize seats among the Ten Dons."
She paused, her tone becoming a bit more serious.
"Previously, under the suppression of the Ten Dons, these three families could only huddle inside the Kakin Empire. After the Ten Dons were wiped out by you, a power vacuum appeared. They moved very quickly, eliminating many mafia families that refused to submit. Now that they've taken seats among the Ten Dons, I'm afraid it might cause chaos."
Leo leaned back on the sofa, tapping his fingers twice on the armrest.
The Xi-Yu, Cha-R, and Heil-Ly Families.
He knew their backgrounds very well.
They were backed by the Kakin Empire's Royal Family; essentially, they were tools for the royals.
Onior, the leader of the Xi-Yu Family, and Brocco Li, the leader of the Cha-R Family, were both half-brothers of Nasubi, the King of the Kakin Empire.
And Morena, the leader of the Heil-Ly Family, was the King's illegitimate daughter.
However, Morena was someone to watch out for—she was a lunatic who only wanted to destroy the human world.
Nevertheless, these three families would all board the B.W. ship to the Dark Continent. Normally, he wouldn't cross paths with them, so it didn't matter.
"I know about this; don't worry about them."
Leo's tone was calm.
"They are backed by the Kakin Royal Family. When the underground auction for all mafias is held on September 1st, just give them a warning."
Vivian nodded and continued.
"The items for the Yorknew City underground auction have been finalized. There's a pair of Scarlet Eyes; do you want me to intercept them?"
She remembered Leo had brought back three of the Seven Great Beauties from Blake's vault and thought he was interested in such things.
Leo shook his head.
"No need, let it be auctioned normally."
It would serve perfectly to lure Kurapika.
Vivian didn't ask further questions and simply nodded.
"Sophia and the others came back once, right during those days you were at the farm. They are all well."
Leo hummed in acknowledgment.
"Speed up the acquisition of biological creatures. If there's nothing else, you can get back to work."
He stood up and walked toward the door.
Vivian also stood up and gave a slight bow.
Leo walked out of the office, through the corridor, down the stairs, and back to the training room.
The metal pillars were still standing in the training room, covered in dense fist marks.
He walked to the center of the floor, took a deep breath, and began his workout.
His right fist slammed into the metal pillar with a muffled thud.
Since Sophia and the others were all out capturing wanted criminals, there was no need for him to compete with them.
He would stay here to train his body and Nen, harvesting batches of biological creatures every so often to increase his Rank.
There were still a few days left until September 1st.
He planned to go to Yorknew City on that day for some fun.
He wanted to check out the auction; he was quite curious about the Greed Island game created by Ging.
That game was the culmination of the efforts of Ging Freecss and a dozen top Nen Users; the cards inside could manifest all sorts of miraculous effects.
He planned to go in and see for himself; many of the designated cards inside had Heaven-Defying effects.
For example, Archangel's Breath: its effect was to summon an angel phantom that could heal near-death injuries and incurable diseases in one breath, though it only appeared once.
In the original story, Gon's arm was blown off by The Bomber and his throat was damaged so he couldn't speak; after using Archangel's Breath, his arm grew back and his voice was restored.
This proved that the effects of these cards were truly useful.
There was another card called witchs rejuvenation potion.
The effect was that taking one pill would make you one year younger, but the effect was only physical; knowledge and memories would be retained. One had to be careful, as taking more pills than your current age would result in death. There were one hundred pills per bottle.
He wondered what would happen if Chairman Netero took them; could it restore him to his Peak?
There was also a card called Mad Scientist's Muscle Enhancer.
Effect: Drink one bottle a day for a week to increase strength. There were 7 cases in total, with 10 bottles per case.
He wanted to see if this stuff would be effective for him.
He had a different perspective on the Greed Island game and wanted to verify it.
Then there was the tycoon Battera; his girlfriend had a terminal illness with no cure, so he could only find a way to bring something out of Greed Island to save her life.
Perhaps he could try to save the woman's life; earning some extra cash wouldn't be bad either.
The treatment fee would only be a little high; taking two-thirds of his Family fortune would do.
Anyway, that old man had more money than he could spend; rather than letting it rot in the bank, it was better to take it out and do something meaningful.
Thud—Thud—Thud—
The metal pillars continued to dent...
