Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: Completing the Mission, Parting Ways

The next day, afternoon.

Pharos City Airport.

Sunlight streamed through the glass dome of the terminal, casting mottled light and shadows on the ground.

Travelers dragged their suitcases in a hurry, and flight information was constantly broadcast over the speakers.

Leo and Kalluto walked out of the airport. Kalluto was still wearing that dark purple kimono, which was particularly conspicuous in the crowd.

He followed behind Leo with an expressionless face, but his eyes wandered involuntarily—this coastal city was very fresh to him, with scenery everywhere that was completely different from Kukuroo Mountain.

Leo took the little paper doll out of his pocket.

As soon as the paper doll touched the outside air, it shivered violently.

Then, it jumped down from Leo's palm and landed steadily on the ground.

It turned around, as if trying to identify the direction.

A few seconds later, it moved its short little legs and drifted toward the east.

Leo and Kalluto exchanged a glance and stepped forward to follow.

The two of them and the paper doll headed east.

Pharos City was an important city on the eastern coast, with bustling streets and heavy traffic.

The little paper doll wove through the crowd, sometimes drifting high, sometimes lowering, like a nimble butterfly.

Leo followed closely behind, his gaze locked on the tiny figure the entire time.

Kalluto followed at his side, but his eyes glanced at Leo from time to time, as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.

Finally, he couldn't help but speak.

"Leo."

His voice was very soft, carrying a hint of hesitation.

Leo didn't even turn his head, his eyes still fixed on the paper doll in front.

"Yeah, what is it?"

Kalluto was silent for a second, then he looked up and looked at Leo with a serious face.

"Can you... tell me why your speed of becoming stronger is so fast?"

Leo's footsteps paused slightly.

Kalluto continued.

"Among the people I have met, there are those who are no weaker than you."

Several figures flashed through his mind—his father, Sliva, the man who was always sitting cross-legged on a cushion with deep, penetrating eyes.

His grandfather, Zeno, who looked very reticent but didn't blink when killing people.

And his great-grandfather Maha, that existence who lived in seclusion and possessed unfathomable strength.

They were all very strong, extremely strong.

But they all reached their current strength only after decades of training.

And Leo... Kalluto looked at the young man in front of him.

Dressed in white, he looked at most twenty years old.

At twenty, he could wipe out the entire Genei Ryodan.

At twenty, he already possessed an aura that made him feel as suffocated as when facing his grandfather Zeno.

Kalluto was born into the Zoldyck Family and had received the strictest System training since he was a child.

He had endured all kinds of torture and beatings, all kinds of life-and-death tests.

He had always thought he was a Genius, one of the most promising children of his generation in the Family.

But Leo's appearance made him feel frustration for the first time, the frustration of trying hard to catch up but never being able to.

Leo was silent for a moment.

His gaze was still fixed on the paper doll in front, but his thoughts had drifted far away.

"My path of strength improvement cannot be replicated."

His voice was calm.

"This is my Opportunity."

He paused, turned his head, and looked at Kalluto.

In those eyes, there was no arrogance, no showing off, only a kind of... indifference.

"Everyone has their own path."

He said.

"Your strength is not bad either. At your age, I didn't understand or know anything."

Kalluto was stunned for a moment.

Leo continued.

"You still have a lot of room to grow. Do not underestimate your own potential."

He withdrew his gaze and continued to walk forward, following the paper doll.

Kalluto stood there, watching his back. Two seconds later, he hurried to catch up.

"Yeah."

He said, his voice lighter than before.

"I know."

He didn't ask again, but his eyes were shining with unprecedented light.

On the outskirts of the old town, a taxi slowly stopped at the entrance of a breeding farm.

The car door opened, and Ashir stepped out.

He was still wearing that white trench coat, tall and thin, with an ordinary face.

He looked up at the huge sign at the entrance—"Pharos First Breeding Farm".

The large characters gleamed with a metallic luster in the sunlight.

Ashir muttered to himself.

"I hope this place won't disappoint me; don't let me make a wasted trip again."

He stepped inside.

Inside the breeding farm, the boss was a fat man in his fifties, his face oily, looking like an old hand who had been in this business for decades.

He was sitting in the office, worrying about the account book.

Business had not been good in the last few days.

Just as he was thinking, the door was pushed open.

A man in a white trench coat walked in.

"Boss."

Ashir got straight to the point.

"I want to buy a batch of livestock."

The boss's eyes lit up, and he stood up quickly.

"Easy, easy! How many do you want?"

Ashir glanced at the price list hanging on the wall and said indifferently.

"All of them."

The boss was stunned.

"A...all of them?"

Ashir nodded.

"Cows, horses, pigs, sheep—everything that can be slaughtered, I want them all."

The boss's mouth was wide enough to fit an egg.

In this day and age, there's still such a big client?

He swallowed hard and asked cautiously.

"Are... are you sure? We have quite a few here, three or four thousand heads..."

Ashir took out a card from his pocket and placed it on the table.

"Money is not an issue."

He paused.

"Get all the livestock ready; I want them immediately."

The boss looked at the card, his eyes fixed.

"Okay, okay! I'll arrange it right away!"

He turned and ran out, shouting as he ran.

"Don't just stand there! Get to work! Drive all the livestock to the backyard!"

Ashir stood there, the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

'Finally, I don't have to run around anymore.'

He thought to himself secretly.

The Doctor had repeatedly reminded him not to buy from one place, but to spread it out to avoid attracting attention.

But Ashir was already tired of it.

Running around for several days, going to several cities, every time was a wasted trip.

This time, it was hard to find a place with enough supply, and he really didn't want to go through the trouble again.

'So what if I take it all?'

He comforted himself in his heart.

'Anyway, the Doctor won't know.'

He stood to the side, watching the workers get busy in a good mood.

On the street outside the breeding farm, Leo and Kalluto walked quickly.

The paper doll floated in front of them, reacting more violently than before.

Its short legs were moving very fast. Kalluto stared at the tiny figure and whispered.

"It's nearby."

Leo nodded and quickened his pace.

His gaze went past the paper doll and landed on the building in front.

A huge sign hung at the entrance—"Pharos First Breeding Farm".

The paper doll floated to the gate of the breeding farm, and then—floated inside.

Leo's eyes narrowed slightly.

A breeding farm, there is only one possibility inside.

He grinned.

'Great, this was effortless.'

He stopped and turned to look at Kalluto.

"Wait here."

Kalluto was stunned, Leo didn't explain.

The next second—black, living-like striped patterns instantly spread from his neck!

Those patterns crawled all over his body like vines, winding and moving, finally forming a complex and mysterious pattern!

"Shivering Soul", activated!

"Convert."

The black patterns on his body squirmed slightly, and light flowed.

Agility, strengthened to the maximum!

In Leo's eyes, a cold light flickered.

'This guy's ability is teleportation. Once he senses it, he will definitely run away immediately.'

'Cannot give him any time to react.'

He exerted force under his feet suddenly!

"Bang!" The ground exploded!

His figure instantly disappeared from where he stood!

Kalluto only felt his vision blur, and Leo was already gone.

He blinked, looking at the door that was still shaking slightly, and then looked at the cracked footprint on the ground.

He was silent.

'This guy...'

He thought silently in his heart.

'What kind of monster is he...'

Inside the breeding farm, the paper doll floated in, all the way forward.

Five hundred meters away, Ashir was leisurely watching the workers busy.

He seemed to have sensed something.

That feeling was hard to describe—like something was approaching, an inexplicable sense of crisis rose from the bottom of his heart.

He turned his head, just about to look behind him.

In his field of vision, a little paper doll appeared.

The paper doll was floating towards him, swaying, like a child who had just learned to walk.

Ashir was stunned.

'This is...'

The next instant, a gust of wind blew past.

He didn't even have time to blink before his eyes went black, and his whole body collapsed softly to the ground.

Leo stood behind him, withdrawing his hand knife.

He looked at the unconscious man on the ground, the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

The paper doll turned around, and then—with a soft "whoosh" sound.

It spontaneously ignited, turning into a small pile of ashes, scattered on the ground.

Leo looked down at Ashir.

He didn't kill him; this person was still useful.

The location of the Doctor's base still needed to be asked from his mouth.

Leo grabbed Ashir, like holding a chicken, and turned to walk toward the gate.

A while later.

The breeding farm boss ran out excitedly and shouted.

"Boss, according to your requirements, we have everything ready."

He looked around, wanting to find Ashir. After searching around, he found that the person had disappeared.

"What the hell, money paid, and he doesn't want the stuff?"

The fat boss scratched his head, standing there at a loss.

Outside the breeding farm.

Kalluto was standing at the gate, boredly kicking stones on the ground.

Hearing footsteps, he looked up.

Leo walked out, carrying a person in his hand.

It was a man in a white trench coat, with an ordinary face, his head hanging softly, obviously completely unconscious.

Kalluto's eyes lit up slightly.

"Looks like you found the person you were looking for."

Leo nodded.

"Yeah."

He looked at Kalluto, a sincere smile appearing on his face.

"I've enjoyed working with you these past few days. Your mission is complete."

Kalluto nodded.

"Yeah, since the mission is complete, I'll be leaving."

His voice was still flat, but there was a hint of complex emotion that was hard to detect.

Time passed too quickly.

This mission was the easiest and happiest one he had had in so many years.

No killing, no bloodshed, none of the things he hated.

Just tracking, just traveling, just wandering around in a strange city, he was even a little... reluctant.

Kalluto turned around, ready to leave.

"Kalluto."

Leo's voice came from behind.

Kalluto's footsteps paused.

"It was nice meeting you, let's keep in touch when you have time."

Leo's voice was sincere.

Kalluto stood there with his back to him. Two seconds later.

He turned around, lifted his chin, and said in his unique arrogant tone.

"I don't buy that."

He paused.

"However—"

The corners of his mouth raised slightly, revealing a very faint smile.

"It was still nice meeting you, Leo."

He waved his hand.

"Goodbye!"

After saying that, he turned around and walked away with long strides.

That dark purple kimono fluttered gently in the wind and soon disappeared around the street corner.

Leo stood there, watching his back disappear into the crowd.

Kalluto's ability was very useful. If possible, he wanted to recruit Kalluto into his team.

In the original work, he could join the Phantom Troupe, which meant he didn't reject joining a team, but he couldn't be too anxious right now; take it slow.

Then, he looked down at the still-unconscious Ashir in his hand.

He smiled and walked toward the airport.
