Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: The Brothers' Little Tricks

"I walked into the control room of the Bifrost Bridge wearing Father's armor. When Heimdall saw me—uh, saw 'Father'—he saluted immediately. I said, 'Heimdall, open the Bifrost Bridge to Midgard. I have urgent business.'"

He paused.

"Then... there was a problem on Loki's end."

Loki immediately retorted, "There was no problem on my end! It was Heimdall who was too alert!"

"How was there no problem on your end? You said you'd approach while invisible and wouldn't be discovered, but what happened?"

"He only discovered me at the very last moment! It was so close!"

"Close means it didn't succeed!"

"That's because—"

Marvica raised her hand.

The two of them immediately shut up.

Loki took a deep breath and collected his thoughts.

"The plan was like this: Thor would distract Heimdall in the front, and I would use invisibility magic to sneak up and steal his sword—that sword is the key to opening the Bifrost Bridge. As long as I got the sword, I could force the Bifrost Bridge to start, and we could leave."

Marvica nodded, signaling him to continue.

"At first, it went very smoothly. Thor turned into Father's appearance, and Heimdall was distracted by him, completely unaware of me. I quietly circled behind the console, getting closer to the sword step by step..."

His tone became somewhat annoyed.

"Just when I reached out and was about to touch the hilt, Heimdall suddenly turned around and punched at me."

Marvica was not surprised at all.

Loki still couldn't figure it out: "He clearly shouldn't have been able to see me, but he... seemed to sense it, and then he threw a punch."

Marvica could imagine the scene; no matter how advanced Loki's invisibility magic was, it couldn't escape his intuition.

"And then?"

"Then..." Thor took over.

"I saw Heimdall punch at empty air and knew he had discovered Loki. I couldn't care about the disguise anymore, so I revealed my true form and raised mjolnir to smash it at him."

He paused.

"I thought I could force him to retreat and give Loki a chance to get the sword, but Heimdall was too fast; he dodged my hammer strike."

Loki added, "While he was dodging Thor's hammer, I took a punch from him head-on and grabbed the hilt."

Marvica looked at him.

"Took a punch head-on?"

Loki nodded slightly, his mouth pulling into a somewhat forced smile.

"Heimdall's punch is not light," he said, his tone carrying a trace of self-deprecation: "My ribs still hurt now."

Marvica was silent for two seconds.

Then she reached out and gently pressed on Loki's chest.

Golden light surged from her palm, seeping into Loki's body.

Loki was stunned for a moment, then felt a warm current surge into his body, and the places that had been aching instantly felt relieved.

"...Thank you, Eldest Sister," he said in a low voice.

Marvica withdrew her hand and continued to ask, "And then? How did you get out?"

Thor's expression became somewhat subtle.

"Then..." he said, his tone becoming hesitant.

"My hammer strike didn't hit Heimdall, and I couldn't hold back the force, so it smashed directly onto... the Bifrost Bridge."

Marvica's hand stopped in mid-air.

"...What did you say?"

Thor lowered his head.

"I smashed it onto the Bifrost Bridge," he repeated in a low voice.

Marvica was silent.

It was a very dangerous silence.

Thor lowered his head even further.

Loki quietly moved half a step to the side, trying to put some distance between himself and Thor.

"Do you know..." Marvica said slowly, her voice terrifyingly calm.

"what the Bifrost Bridge means?"

Thor and Loki didn't dare to speak.

"The Bifrost Bridge connects Asgard and the Nine Realms," Marvica continued.

"Its energy is one of the foundations of Asgard's existence. If the Bifrost Bridge is damaged, the entire Asgard will shake. If the Bifrost Bridge breaks—"

She paused.

"Asgard will lose its connection to the Nine Realms."

Thor's face flushed red.

"I know, Eldest Sister!" he said, his tone full of regret and guilt.

"I didn't think that much at the time, I just wanted to help Loki... By the time I smashed onto it, I knew I had caused trouble. The entire Bifrost Bridge was shaking, the passage became unstable, and seven-colored light was darting everywhere..."

He raised his head and looked at Marvica.

"I heard Father's voice."

"He must have discovered it," he said in a low tone.

"With such a big commotion, it's impossible for him not to know. He was calling our names, and in his voice... he was very angry."

Loki added quietly from the side, "Very angry."

Marvica rubbed her forehead.

She could imagine the scene.

Odin was sitting on the throne of Asgard, suddenly feeling the violent shaking of the Bifrost Bridge, perceiving that his two sons were up to some mischief there.

He used the Eternal Spear to investigate and found that Thor and Loki were trying to force open the Bifrost Bridge—

And they also smashed the Bifrost Bridge.

The Old man's mood, one could imagine.

"And then?" Marvica asked.

"We jumped in," Thor said: "There was no time to apologize, and no time to explain, we just jumped straight in."

Loki added: "Father wanted to catch us, but we had already entered the passage of the Bifrost Bridge, so he could only..."

He paused.

"He could only cast a spell from afar."

Marvica looked at him.

"What spell?"

Loki's gaze fell on mjolnir, which was stuck in the ground in the distance.

"He sealed the power of mjolnir."

Marvica followed his gaze.

The hammer stood quietly in the moonlight, looking no different from usual.

But she knew it was already different.

"Father said..." Thor said in a low voice, his voice trembling slightly: "I am not worthy of using it. Only when I am worthy of it will it recognize me again."

He paused.

"I was in the Bifrost Bridge at the time, hearing this, wanting to refute something, but the Bifrost Bridge had already opened. Loki and I were being tossed around in the passage, hitting things, and we couldn't care about anything else."

Loki nodded from the side.

"It was indeed quite a hard hit," he said, his tone carrying a trace of lingering fear.

"Without the flight ability of mjolnir, Thor was like a stone in the passage, unable to control himself at all. I even tried to use magic to stabilize him, but ended up being tossed away three times myself."

Thor glared at him.

"You were tossed away three times? I was almost tossed out!"

"That's because you're too heavy!"

"I'm heavy? This is muscle! What do you know, you skinny stick!"

"Muscle? You call that muscle? I think it's fat—"

Marvica coughed lightly.

The two of them immediately shut up.

Marvica looked at Thor, then at Loki.

Under the moonlight, these two younger brothers stood before her, covered in dust and grass clippings, with a few blades of dead grass from who knows where stuck in their hair.

Thor's armor had several scratches, and the hem of Loki's robe was torn.

They looked extremely disheveled.

Just like two little boys who snuck out to play, ended up causing big trouble, and were now caught by My Lord.
