Felix had never been good with kids. Since he was a single child with no relatives who had children, he had only had a few interactions with them. Which was why he had no idea what to do when meeting the Otherworlder children.
Thankfully, Rimuru was there, and she was extremely good with children. She not only played with them like a child herself and even included Felix in their games, but she could also get stern and scold them easily when they did something naughty.
As a couple of days passed, someone from Eadgar's shop came to the inn Felix was staying at and informed him that the silver was ready.
"Tell me again, why do you need so much silver?" Rimuru asked as she went with him to collect it.
"It's for research purposes," Felix replied with a serious face. Of course, he couldn't tell her that it was just a quest from his system, and if he didn't complete it, the drawback was quite severe.
Being weak to silver to the point that it would act like poison was no small drawback.
"Ohh, are you going to infuse it with magicules like I do with steel to make it into a new magical metal?" Rimuru asked, clearly invested.
"Something like that… I want to infuse it with my Hero's Haki and see what happens," Felix said, coming up with an idea on the spot.
They soon arrived at the shop and found Eadgar waiting for them.
"Ah, good evening, Sir Felix, Lady Rimuru," he greeted them politely as he led them to his office.
"Would you care for some refreshment? This particular drink has been specially imported from the Eastern Empire… I must confess, I have grown rather fond of it," Eadgar said as he poured them both a glass.
The drink appeared to be a slightly golden liquid, and from the scent, Felix could pick up mint. It felt oddly familiar.
Rimuru immediately took a sip and looked quite pleased. Felix tried it as well.
"Is this… sekan juice?" Felix asked, not remembering the exact name of Sekanjabin.
"Ah, you have had it before? I was introduced to it by an eastern merchant. He referred to it as 'Sekanvier'," Eadgar replied, taking a composed sip of his own drink.
It was probably brought to the Eastern Empire by an Otherworlder, Felix thought as he enjoyed it.
"This is certainly interesting… I was wondering, would you be willing to sell the recipe?" Rimuru asked.
"You honor me with the request, Lady Rimuru, but it is merely a simple beverage. I could hardly charge you for such a thing. I shall have the recipe sent to you at once," Eadgar replied.
"I'd much appreciate it." Rimuru understood well that Eadgar wasn't selling it on purpose. Selling it would make it a mere transaction, but offering it as a gift built goodwill and future connections.
After a short conversation while enjoying the Sekanjabin, they headed down into another room.
In front of Felix was a 2x1 meter slab of silver that was barely even 5 centimeters thick.
"Where's the rest of it?" Felix asked.
Eadgar let out a soft chuckle. "I assure you, that is the full ton. It is a rather common moment of surprise when one first encounters the density of silver."
Felix frowned slightly.
Was he getting scammed?
He reached down and tried to lift the slab.
Of course, with his strength, he could lift it easily, though he could tell it wasn't light. Still, him casually picking up a one-ton slab stunned not only the staff, but even Eadgar himself, whose composed expression faltered.
"Well, it certainly does feel like one ton, so I'll accept it," Felix said as he simply walked out of the building holding the slab.
Since he had already paid and didn't need anything else, it was natural for him to leave like that. But for Eadgar, this had become quite an astonishing experience.
Still slightly stunned, he forgot to bid them farewell and simply watched as the two walked away.
"Maybe I wasn't needed at all, huh?" Rimuru asked.
"And what if someone tried to rob me? How am I supposed to defend myself while holding this?"
"Just put it down. It's not like anyone else could casually pick it up like you," Rimuru replied with a smirk.
Which was true. Even for an Enlightened, lifting one ton without Battlewill or enhancements was excessive. But Felix, as Humanity Unchained, represented the absolute peak of what an Enlightened human could be.
Heck, even before reaching the Enlightened stage, he could lift up to 200 kg with just Humanity Unchained. So it wasn't surprising that one ton didn't feel like much to him. For most Enlighteneds, though, such a feat without Battlewill would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Once they reached a more secluded place, Felix handed the slab to Rimuru.
"Should I put it in high-density magicule space?" she asked as she devoured it.
"Yeah, we can also observe its reaction to magicules that way," he replied.
When they got back to Felix's room in the inn, Rimuru scanned the slab before taking it out. Thankfully, the room was on the ground floor.
"It seems that while silver does mutate in high-density magicules, its rate of mutation is extremely slow… almost fifty times slower than steel," Rimuru commented.
"Well, let's try Haki next. Though I'll have to ask you to stay in a specific place, since monsters can be affected by Hero's Haki," Felix explained.
After Rimuru chose a safe spot, Felix cast several layers of sealing magic to prevent the Haki from leaking out or reaching her.
Then he sealed the silver slab so that Haki could enter it, but not escape.
Releasing his Hero's Haki at full intensity and focusing it onto the slab, Felix observed closely.
There was no visible change.
After about fifteen minutes of releasing Haki, he asked, "Do you see any changes?"
"Not really… it does seem saturated with Haki, but I don't see any mutation like with magicules. Maybe it just needs more time. How about we leave the seal in place for a couple of days?" Rimuru suggested.
"Hmm… I need to head to Ulgracia soon. Let's keep it sealed overnight. If nothing changes, we'll consider this experiment a failure for now," Felix said.
"Fair enough. We can always try again later in Tempest," she agreed.
"Also, what are you planning to do with all the Haki trapped in this room? You can't just release it all at once. That might be too much even for normal humans to handle," she added.
"About that… I didn't really think that far ahead," Felix admitted, scratching his head.
So the two of them were stuck in the room for the night.
A man and a woman, stuck in a room for the night.
Of course, nothing happened. One was a 40-year-old virgin girl, and the other an awkward otaku. So they spent the night just talking. Neither of them needed sleep, so it turned into something like a casual sleepover.
During the night, Felix gradually loosened the seals, allowing small amounts of Hero's Haki to leak out. By morning, it was safe to fully open the room and remove all the seals.
"Hmm… even after the whole night, I don't see any real change in the metal. Sure, it can be considered infused with Hero's Haki for now, but that's just a temporary state, not an actual transformation. At best, it's a temporary boost," Rimuru explained.
"Well, I'll just donate it to the church then," Felix said.
"Oh? Why?" Rimuru asked.
"I've heard they fight wild monsters and such. Maybe this temporary boost can help them make enhanced weapons," Felix replied, coming up with a reason on the spot.
"Hmm… makes sense," Rimuru agreed.
After donating the slab, Felix completed his quest and even received a fair amount of praise from the local bishop, though he didn't think much of it. For Rimuru, it wasn't even worth a second thought.
But that slab of silver, filled to the brim with Hero's Haki, was about to go on a journey of its own.
The bishop, finding little use for it himself, decided to send it to Lubelius. Of course, not before speaking highly of the rising Hero Felix and implying that he had guided him toward Luminism.
While it would take some time to reach Lubelius, it would not be enough for the Hero's Haki to fade. At full saturation, it could take years to completely dissipate.
As for how that silver slab, filled with Hero's Haki, would be received as a gift from a Hero to Luminous…
That was something yet to be seen.
A/n: With this the quest being completed, I'm planning on a few rolls, if you're interested in anything or maybe a certain character, do tell me. The only suggestion I've gotten till now that I can use is WIP Tensura CYOA, I'm also planning a short trip to another world, maybe 3-5 chapters, so if you've got any world you wanna see as a short trip do say.
