Elias beat Chase to the answer. "The Mercer's."
Many sighs of relief went around. Phones went back into pockets and comms were put on silent mode again.
"Oh thank the fox god it's not anyone I know." Grace-lyn said softly. "Nothing is worse than poverty. Having no money is the worst." Her eyes widened with a realization. In a sound that could not be described other than calling it dismay, she turned to Lord Chase. "Papa, you lost money, which means I lost money!"
Chase rubbed the tip of his nose. "The thirty million is not even 2% of my wealth or that of my ancestors. It's not the money I have a problem with, its the stupidity. Business decisions should not be based on what happens in bedrooms. I should have known better than to invest when the person in charge of their finances was changed to a former stripper."
Elias shook his head. "They will probably be reaching out to me to bail them out. Bankruptcy among nobles is a stain worse than divorce in the royal family."
