Supporting the unconscious Jingliu, Cecilia stood in place for a moment and thought.
A place to stay? She had only just arrived on the Luofu today. Where was she supposed to have found a residence already?
Still, that problem was easy enough to solve. She remembered Fu Xuan telling her that once she arrived on the Luofu, she could go straight to the Divination Commission to find her.
That had been the original plan.
But now that she had successfully picked up Jingliu, Cecilia had a new idea.
Lowering her head, she looked at the woman leaning against her shoulder.
Even in sleep, Jingliu's brows were tightly furrowed, her cool, elegant face still carrying a suppressed kind of pain.
"Forget it. I'll find somewhere to settle down first."
With that, Cecilia supported Jingliu and headed toward a nearby inn.
Finding an inn on the Luofu was no challenge. Especially with Cecilia's gentle, noble bearing—once she stepped up to the counter, the proprietor immediately hurried over with eager hospitality.
"Miss, looking for a room? We have excellent guest chambers here—quiet, elegant, guaranteed to satisfy—"
He stopped halfway through his pitch, his gaze landing on the unconscious Jingliu in Cecilia's arms. At once, his expression turned understanding.
"Oh my, is this guest unwell? Would you like me to fetch a doctor?"
"No need." Cecilia smiled faintly. "I am the doctor."
The innkeeper froze for a second, then nodded repeatedly. "Of course, of course. Right this way—I'll arrange our best room for you at once."
And so, after paying in credit points, Cecilia helped Jingliu into the room and gently laid her down on the bed.
Then Cecilia stood beside the bed, quietly studying the woman she had "picked up."
Jingliu.
The name was not unfamiliar to Cecilia.
Former Sword Champion of the Luofu. A legendary swordmaster. Jing Yuan's teacher. And at the same time, a woman who had fallen into mara.
Cecilia reached out and lightly brushed aside the loose strands of hair at Jingliu's forehead.
Even in unconsciousness, Jingliu's face still possessed a sharp, arresting beauty.
But at the moment, what showed there most clearly was pain.
The mara was worsening.
Cecilia could clearly sense it: the power of Abundance within Jingliu was spiraling out of control.
So Baiheng really did carry enormous weight in Jingliu's heart. Even Bailu, Baiheng's reincarnation, was enough to break through her defenses.
Fortunately for Jingliu, though, she had run into Cecilia—a truly helpful person.
Cecilia extended a hand and rested it on Jingliu's forehead.
A soft white glow overflowed from her palm and slowly seeped into Jingliu's body.
It was the power of creation from Black Abyss White Flower, and also Cecilia's own authority as an Emanator of Abundance.
Unlike Yaoshi's indiscriminate blessings, Cecilia's power was gentler, and far more controlled.
And under her guidance, the violent Abundance energy within Jingliu gradually began to calm.
As expected, Jingliu's brow slowly relaxed, and some of the pain faded from her face.
Cecilia withdrew her hand and nodded in satisfaction.
At her current level, suppressing mara really was no difficult task.
Of course, truly curing it would require a more complicated method, but for now this was more than enough.
And naturally, Cecilia had not chosen to help Jingliu for free.
In Cecilia's memory, Jingliu had returned to the Luofu because she had a very bold plan of her own.
If the Astral Express had never come to the Luofu, Jingliu would have borrowed the power of Propagation to rise into something comparable to an Emanator of Abundance, then used the body of Destruction to smash—
If the Astral Express had come to the Luofu, then her plan was only to drag the Xianzhou Alliance into the game, which somehow felt a lot less grand.
Still, judging by the current situation, this was clearly the Astral Express-arrives-at-the-Luofu timeline...
Cecilia shook her head lightly and tossed those thoughts aside.
Whatever Jingliu had originally intended no longer mattered.
The point was, Cecilia had already picked her up.
Which meant that, as medical fees, every bargaining chip Jingliu carried ought to belong to Cecilia now.
"...Baiheng!"
Suddenly, the Jingliu lying on the bed cried out.
Cecilia looked over. Jingliu's brows had drawn together again, and a fine sheen of sweat was starting to bead on her forehead.
A nightmare?
That made Cecilia think of one of her passive abilities.
Schariac Holy Blood.
By ingesting her blood orally, one could receive a blessing of Abundance—healing wounds, slowing aging, even granting ordinary mortals a degree of vastly extended lifespan.
Cecilia did not hesitate for long.
She raised a hand and lightly bit the tip of her finger.
A crimson bead of blood welled up, stark and vivid against her pale skin.
That single drop contained a gentle yet vast life force—so extraordinary that even an ordinary person would be able to sense something unusual in it.
Cecilia brought her finger lightly to Jingliu's lips.
As though sensing something, the sleeping Jingliu's lips moved faintly, instinctively seeking after it.
...Well.
Jingliu sucked Cecilia's finger into her mouth like a child.
Fortunately, the effect was excellent.
Jingliu's mental state visibly improved almost at once.
"Baiheng!"
For some reason, though, she was still murmuring the name of her white moonlight.
Cecilia let out a helpless sigh. "Honestly, child, how are you still calling for someone else even in your dreams?"
She spoke softly, making no move to withdraw her finger. Instead, she let Jingliu keep it in her mouth while her other hand gently smoothed over the woman's furrowed brow.
"Don't be afraid. It's all right now."
"You're just too tired. You haven't rested in far too long."
Jingliu's lips trembled slightly, and an indistinct murmur escaped them. "Baiheng... I'm sorry..."
Then, all at once, the eyes on the bed snapped open.
She released Cecilia's finger, sat upright, and fixed that crimson gaze on Cecilia's face.
Every trace of killing intent, brutality, and madness—
froze in an instant.
"...Baiheng?"
Cecilia blinked.
It looked like Jingliu had mistaken her for Baiheng.
But wasn't Baiheng purple-haired? Cecilia was white-haired. How could Jingliu still get that wrong? What kind of new substitute-lover melodrama was this?
"I'm sorry, but you seem to have mistaken me for someone else," Cecilia said softly.
Jingliu gave no reply.
In the next second, Cecilia was yanked bodily into an embrace.
Cecilia instantly went stiff.
Being mistaken for someone's lost white moonlight was already absurdly melodramatic enough, wasn't it?
So, in the face of Jingliu's clearly unstable emotions, Cecilia finally chose to respond.
She took Jingliu's clothes—
and used them to wipe off the saliva Jingliu had left on her finger.
