"It isn't a game," she insisted, trying to fix her ruined slip with shaking fingers. "I want you so badly it hurts. But I need your core untouched. You have to stay pure for the final ritual in two days. If I take you tonight, the magic won't align properly."
"You're a mess," Kai told her bluntly, running a hand through his messy hair. "You invite me in here, let me push you right to the edge, and then you talk about rituals."
"Two days, Kai," she promised, her crimson eyes burning with a manic obsession. "Win the final trial, and I'll drain every ounce of your strength. You'll be mine forever."
She didn't stay to argue. Grabbing a silk robe from a nearby chair, she practically fled her own bedroom, leaving him alone in the red-lit space.
