Chapter 117 - Fierce Battle

Kibutsuji Muzan's strength needed no questioning. With every punch, buildings were smashed into rubble, forcing Xia Feng to continuously dodge.

Thunderclap and Flash!!

In an instant, Xia Feng appeared beneath the giant and slashed off its foot. Yet amid the spray of blood, the severed limb regenerated almost immediately.

The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception weren't working!

That left Xia Feng somewhat frustrated.

If the Mystic Eyes couldn't take effect, then no matter how many times he cut off Muzan's head, it would be useless.

"Do I really have to expose Kibutsuji Muzan to sunlight?"

Xia Feng frowned at the thought. But that wasn't realistic—restraining Muzan long enough for that was nearly impossible.

"Let's try cutting off the head again."

Xia Feng narrowed his eyes and pushed off the ground.

His body shot into the air at top speed.

The giant responded with a punch straight at him.

Water Wheel!!

Xia Feng's Nichirin Blade carved a massive gash into the giant's fist, and he lightly landed on its arm.

Without stopping, he sprinted along the arm, quickly reaching the shoulder, and slashed again.

Slash!!

The giant's head was severed once more—but this time, Xia Feng noticed something strange.

As a new head rapidly regrew, the giant slapped its own shoulder, forcing Xia Feng back.

Muzan laughed gleefully. "What's wrong, Xia Feng? Have you run out of ways to kill me? Weren't you so confident before?"

Standing on the ground, Xia Feng looked up at the giant, resting his Nichirin Blade on his shoulder.

"From that exchange, I've figured out how you're neutralizing my ability," he said with a smile. "You're preemptively separating parts of your body, aren't you? The moment I strike, you detach the section I'm about to cut from your main body."

"So what I've been cutting all along are already-separated pieces. My ability only works on those discarded parts—so it poses no real threat to you."

Muzan's expression darkened, but soon twisted into a sinister grin. "That's right. But even if you understand it, what can you do about it?"

Xia Feng shrugged. "For now? Nothing."

"Then like I said, the one who dies will still be you. I can regenerate endlessly, and your ability is useless against me."

Muzan looked smug.

Xia Feng shook his head. "You're wrong. It's not that my power doesn't work on you—you've just cleverly found a way to isolate yourself from my blade."

"My blade can still kill you."

Muzan's smile stiffened, but he immediately attacked again.

Words were meaningless now—only battle would decide.

Meanwhile, the vampire bats continued to assault the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters. However, with the Hashira stepping in, the tide began to slow, and the slayers gradually found ways to deal with the creatures.

They started working together, cutting down any bats that approached.

The ground was littered with bat corpses. Some that weren't fully dead writhed on the ground, only to be crushed underfoot.

Muzan knew the situation was still in his favor.

Though Kokushibo was dead and only Akaza remained among the Upper Moons, it was enough.

The Demon Slayer Corps headquarters had already been mostly destroyed. As long as the remaining Hashira were killed, the Corps would cease to exist.

Still, Muzan decided to push things further.

He narrowed his eyes and summoned Akaza.

Akaza descended beside him, gripping the Flame Hashira in one hand and the Stone Hashira in the other, a grin plastered across his face.

Muzan looked down, pleased. "Very good, Akaza. I didn't expect you to be this useful."

Akaza laughed excitedly. "Fighting two Hashira at once… that feeling was incredible. They almost killed me—just a little more, and I'd have died. Too bad they couldn't hold on."

He tossed the Flame and Stone Hashira onto the ground and looked toward Xia Feng. For a moment, he was surprised—then it felt only natural.

"So in the end, our true opponent is still you, Xia Feng. Oh, and I let an interesting little guy escape earlier."

Akaza grinned. "That guy was carrying a demon. I could tell—what he had on his back was definitely a demon."

Xia Feng immediately knew—Akaza was talking about Tanjiro. Only he would be running around with Nezuko on his back.

But that didn't matter right now.

The strongest demon was standing before him. As long as Muzan was defeated, all their current troubles would disappear.

Time was running out.

If Muzan escaped, this battle would end in the Demon Slayer Corps' defeat.

It was already the latter half of the night. Only a few hours remained before sunrise, and Muzan would certainly flee before then.

"Kibutsuji Muzan rarely shows himself. If he escapes, finding him again in a country this large… would take far too much time."

And wasting time on searching was what Xia Feng hated most.

"Akaza, go destroy the wisteria flowers. I want all the demons outside to flood in. I refuse to believe they can withstand tens of thousands of demons!!"

Muzan issued the order.

Akaza smiled. "I'll go right away. Though I'd still love to fight Xia Feng… watching the Demon Slayer Corps be destroyed would be even more satisfying."

He turned and headed out.

Xia Feng didn't seem concerned.

He knew—the Hashira wouldn't let Akaza succeed.

Xia Feng drew a circle with his Nichirin Blade and fixed his gaze on the giant.

"If I can't kill you in one strike… then I'll just cut you down a few more times."

Taking a deep breath, he pushed off the ground once more.
