Silas knew exactly where the emergency exit was. He had learned it the way he learned most things. Quietly, without announcing it. While everyone else was busy doing something else. He had been sitting on that couch while the crew moved around him, and instead of staring at his phone or closing his eyes, he had looked at the room. Memorized the shape of it and through his blueprint, they found the exit.
It had been habit then but it was useful now.
Silas lifted the pot and striked it edge towards the glass. The flimsy glass didn't take many hits before it broke.
"Everybody, come here, don't block the main exit!" Salvar's voice cut through the fog behind them, carrying its usual authority even now, directing the stragglers toward the right path.
They moved through the dark corridor together, the noise and press of the crowd falling away as the passage narrowed, ending at a flimsy spiraling staircase that descended into the floors below.
